Eppan an der Weinstaße/Appiano sulla Strada del Vino, The South Tyrolean Wine Road

The bike trail goes trough the wine villages Eppan, Kaltern, Tramin and Kurtatsch up to the country frontier at Salurn on traffic-calmed streets. The tour is appropriate for all kinds of bycicles, but is the most fun to ride on e-bikes or racing bikes.

The route starts at Eppan and leads on the cycle path and the lake loop road to the Kalterer lake and onwards to Tramin. Towards the village you’ll find a rise. Take it and follow the Weinstraße until you reach Margreid and Kurtinig. In all of those villages you’ll find plenty of possibilities to stop for a bite to eat.

Arriving at Salurn, change the downhill side and follow the hillslope until you come to Laag. From there you can take the cycle path along the Etsch in a northward direction up until the spot where the rivers Etsch and Eisack are meeting. There you turn left and follow the old railway track of the Überetscher railway until the initial point in Eppan.

    Giro Adventure Tour
Olang/Valdaora, Dolomites Region Kronplatz/Plan de Corones

The reminiscence of the Giro d'Italia. Walk in the footsteps of the racing bike stars and Giro legends and cover 769 m of altitude. The (sports) history-laden adventure tour does not yet take you to the Stallersattel, but "only" to the Antholz Lake. That should be enough to warm you up. The ride along the valley cycle path through Olang and the Anthiolz Valley offers a great first overview - but the last climb to the biathlon centre gives you a real Giro feeling. Don't forget your pink jersey!

Road bike tour to the passo delle Erbe/Würzjoch
    Badia, Dolomites Region Alta Badia

The passo delle Erbe is one of the most beautiful scenery of the Dolomites. The green meadows on the northern edge of the Puez – Odle Nature Park and the imposing Dolomite peaks accompany the cyclists during the tour which is not between the most famous itineraries in the area but for sure it is among the most impressive ones.

Starting the tour from Alta Badia you cycle on relatively low-traffic roads with some spectacular panoramic view and at times technically challenging. On the way to the Passo delle Erbe there are a few sharp hairpin turn and some steep climbs with gradients of up to 16%.

The pass road runs continuously along the mountain, rising higher and higher up to the pass with no bends. In this upper stage there are only two noteworthy changes of direction to be negotiated.

Kaltern Bike Racing bike tour Mendelpass-Gampenpass
Kaltern an der Weinstraße/Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino, The South Tyrolean Wine Road

You start in Kaltern / Caldaro. The tour will then take you over bicycle paths and forest trails between vineyards and fruit orchards until you come to the village of Lana, near Meran / Merano. You'll need a lot of stamina to master the 19-km-long ascent to the Gampen / Palade Pass (1,515 meters above sea-level). The road features almost now turns and curves as you proceed to the Gampen / Palade Pass, but you'll be treated to a wonderful panoramic view of the Etsch / Adige Valley. Once you've arrived at the top, you can take a rest-break before continuing on to Fondo and then taking the short ascent to the Mendel Pass. The Mendel is Kaltern's trademark mountain; its highest point is 1,363 meters above sea-level. You have now almost completed the 80-km-long tour. The last segment takes you along the pass road down to Kaltern. And what better way to conclude the day than by paying a visit to one of the many great restaurants here for a cool glass of Lake Caldaro wine.

    Stelvio Tour
Prad am Stilfser Joch/Prato allo Stelvio, Vinschgau/Val Venosta

The cycle from Prato to Passo dello Stelvio is known as a classic one in the cycling scene. It is not only the 25 km and the roughly 1800 meters of difference in altitude that are particularly appealing. It is as well the total of 48 hairpin turns that, starting from Prato via Gomagoi, Trafoi and Franzenshöhe, raise to the second highest tarmaced mountain pass of Europe. Near Trafoi, the cyclist will be offered an unrestricted view of the glacier and rock formations of the Ortles range that will be present until the pass is reached. For the descent, the route via the Umbrail pass and Switzerland to Prato is recommended.

Racing Bike Tour to the Timmelsjoch Mountain Pass
St.Leonhard in Passeier/San Leonardo in Passiria, Meran/Merano and environs

The first stage of this racing bike tour is relatively flat, with little elevation gain. However, a rapid gain in elevation must be achieved after leaving St. Leonhard/S. Leonardo. A few tunnels and switchbacks bring you to the Schönau restaurant at km 18. After a brief stop to catch your breath, head uphill via the steepest section of the tour on seemingly endless switchbacks beginning at the Timmelsbach bridge.
If you can make it up the last 10 challenging kilometres, 1km through the last and unlit tunnel must be completed before reaching the pass. From the Timmelsjoch, the route either continues to Austria or back into the Passeiertal valley on the route you came up by.
The Timmelsjoch is amongst the toughest passes in the Alpine region – the 30 kilometres feel long and an uncomfortably large portion is uphill.
The road surface, however, is fantastic and the reward for your pain is a magnificent view.

Racing Bike Tour to the Jaufenpass Mountain Pass
St.Leonhard in Passeier/San Leonardo in Passiria, Meran/Merano and environs

The Jaufen Pass mountain pass connects the Passeiertal Valley with the Eisacktal Valley, and is one of the shortest connections between Meran/Merano and Sterzing/Vipiteno by the Brenner Pass mountain pass.
The starting point for this racing bike tour is St. Leonhard/S. Leonardo. With many switchbacks you climb the mountain with a gradient of approx. 12%. At Walten/Valtina the road bends towards the pass, providing a wonderful view from many sides, rewarding your strenuous pedaling. Descend either towards Gasteig/Casateia or back into the Passeiertal Valley the way you came up.

    Sellaronda road bike tour
    Corvara, Dolomites Region Alta Badia

The Sellaronda circuit round the Sella massif has long been a winter favourite.

However, in recent years the Sellaronda circuit has also become a popular challenge for cyclists.

The twisty Alpine roads at the foot of the Dolomite peaks are like a dream come true for racing cyclists. The gradients on the circuit are mostly between 8 and 10 %, it is classed as moderately difficult. The asphalt roads are mostly in good condition, although there are small potholes on some sections.

    Resia Lake Round
Graun im Vinschgau/Curon Venosta, Vinschgau/Val Venosta

This route is suitable for a leisurely excursion, for families, and for mountain bike or e-bike tours for warm-up. The Resia lake can be cycled in both directions. Almost exclusively on asphalt, start along the cycle and gravel path from the famous church tower in Graun northwards to Reschen - past the sailing boats waiting for wind. Don't cycle straight forward to the Austrian state border. Instead, follow the cycle path in Reschen towards the western lakeside, past the Schöneben valley station, and calmly tackle the incline along the lake. The route is leisurely - until the southern lakeside with the dam wall and there is a fantastic view over the Malser Haide and King Ortler (3,905 m). At the dam, turn north and enjoy the panorama with the lake and the approaching mountains back to Graun. If the wind is strong, kiters and sailors can be spotted on Lake Reschen. There are cozy stops along the lake at the Sciuri at the Schöneben valley station, at the taverns Greinhof and Giernhof, at the new kitestation or at the businesses in Reschen and Graun.
