Following basic guidelines on the piste is crucial, just as it is in any other context. To make these guidelines clearer, the ski instructors of the Corvara Ski School together with the various organisations will provide you with a list of behaviours to follow. In addition, you will be able to attend a piste rescue simulation to learn how to deal with emergency situations effectively. You will be able to watch an avalanche rescue simulation and search dog rescue. Your safety is our priority. The ski school instructors will add a touch of magic to the evening by parading down the slope in an atmospheric torchlight procession. During the event photos or video footage may be taken for the purpose of documentation and promotion of the event and the region. The footage may be used and published on websites, on social networks and on media in compliance with the data protection regulations.

‘There is war.’ This statement, which may sound so trivial in the face of almost constant warlike violence that it could be considered a tautology, or at least a platitude - isn't there always war? - perhaps it does offer a few insights: it could also be read to mean that war dominates our imagination to such an extent that we are barely able to imagine alternatives to it. War does indeed prevail and yet - or precisely because of this - it is important to explore what could be done and thought differently, and what is already happening.

Wars rarely end unequivocally - be it through surrender, a change of government, an armistice or a peace treaty. This seminar uses selected historical examples from the last five centuries to illuminate how wars were ended and which factors played a role. Various patterns will be analysed, from the importance of international diplomacy to the political, social and military dynamics that influence peace. Using events such as the Peace of Westphalia, the world wars and conflicts of the 20th century, it becomes clear that the path to peace is often just as complex as the war itself. The perception of the actors, the involvement of third parties and the after-effects on society play a decisive role. from the series: understanding peace. War is raging in Ukraine and the Middle East, but armed conflicts have also increased worldwide since 2011. As part of this series of events, we are looking at peace and conflict in historical, philosophical and educational contexts. In various lectures and workshops, key questions relating to conflict and peace theory will be raised and discussed together: How do wars start - and how do they end? At what point can we speak of peace? And how can peace education contribute to a non-violent future? Registration required.
