ARTIFICES: THE CREATORS OF ART The exhibition “Artifices: The Creators of Art” is the third chapter of the long-term project “Stories of Art with the Great Museums”, promoted by the Department of Italian Culture of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano–South Tyrol in collaboration with major Italian museums. Created with the National Roman Museum, the exhibition explores the evolution of Roman artistic production from the Republican period to the late Empire. Through sculptures, inscriptions, and everyday artefacts, it reveals the world of artisans and workshops that shaped Rome’s material and cultural identity. Highlights include a group of fine sculptures from a late Republican villa, displayed in a setting that evokes an elegant Roman residence, and a replica of the Discobolus (Lancellotti type) from the Omero Tactile Museum in Ancona, in dialogue with the celebrated original at Palazzo Massimo.

Experience three days of daily meditations, breathwork, and somatic, naturopathic rituals based on the SilberQuarzit® method, guided by Kornelia Schwitzer, the founder of this holistic approach. No heatwave holidays – facts and solutions for South Tyrol

You are witnessing the birth of an offline club: a place for real socialising aimed at those who want to discuss contemporary issues. What is happening in the present and how it affects us is difficult to discuss and often a source of misunderstanding and division.

What we want to develop is a dialogue group based on mutual listening, providing space for constructive discussion to share different ideas and skills in a judgement-free environment, a sort of emancipation from current modes of communication.

Second meeting – Systemic emergencies
“Social reality is not an objective fact, but a social construction that develops through human interaction and the sharing of meanings and beliefs within a community” (Berger–Luckmann).
Can the logic of emergency and the resulting paradigm shift suddenly undermine and change all this?

Women (L)ife On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, a scenic, artistic and musical reading will take place, focusing on women, violence, and life thereafter. Created and performed by theatre educators from PlatThea, Platform for Theatre Education. Organized by the Educational Committee of Kastelruth. The event will be held in German.

Together we will create a special book, a collection of stories, fairy tales, desires, dreams and imagination: a project that springs from the imagination and takes shape in our hands. To begin with, we will briefly explore the anatomy of the book: we will understand how it is made, what it is composed of and what the fundamental elements of its structure are. We will then move on to the practical part, creating a classic French thread binding, and finally constructing a soft cover, rich in details and little surprises.

Was the Seceda “fish lizard” a dinosaur, a fish, or a marine reptile? And how is it possible that it was found at an altitude of 2,500 meters? These and other questions are answered by Claudia Urthaler and Sara Welponer in a children’s book that will be presented on November 29 at the South Tyrol Museum of Nature.

In 1968, Johann Comploj and Mainhard Strobl discovered the partial skeleton of an ancient marine creature on the Seceda in Val Gardena: a fish-like reptile, between six and ten meters long, with a mouth full of sharp teeth. After detailed scientific examination, researchers identified it as an ichthyosaur—a marine reptile that lived about 241 million years ago in the ancient Tethys Ocean, where it thrived for more than 100 million years. Today, the fossil is on display at the Gherdëina Museum in Ortisei.

Sara Welponer and Claudia Urthaler wrote a book about this remarkable find. The trilingual publication—in Ladin, German, and Italian—is titled “L’itiosaur de Secëda. Der Fischsaurier der Seceda. L’ittiosauro del Seceda” and will be presented on Saturday, November 29 at 3 p.m. at the South Tyrol Museum of Nature. Admission is free, but registration is required on the museum’s website at:

Since 2025, Mag to Mag has also become a print magazine focused on niche and periodical culture.
