What cultural and historical role do mushrooms play? How can the properties of mushrooms illuminate new paths in pharmacological science? What responsible and sustainable methods can be adopted in mushroom foraging? At least once, we've all 'gone' mushroom picking. But there's a difference between going and truly seeing. In the company of Andrea, an enthusiastic mycologist, it's possible to view the forest from the mushroom's perspective. This shift in viewpoint is exhilarating, fascinating, and unique: suddenly, the mushroom is not just a fruit of the earth but a connector that binds every form of life within the forest ecosystem. We are in the forests of Corvara, areas that transform with the seasons, home to a variety of mushrooms that includes more than just the familiar porcini and chanterelles. With Andrea, the journey becomes a sensory and cognitive adventure where each encountered mushroom serves as a pretext for stories of ecology, biology, and chemistry. Thus, learning transforms into an art: the art of identifying, collecting, and respecting mushrooms and of discovering the wonders of the fungal kingdom, thanks to their extraordinary medicinal properties that often have anticipated new frontiers in pharmaceutical research. This experience is part of ATIRA: a series of weekly meetings and excursions designed to raise awareness about crucial issues for maintaining sustainable territorial development. With ATIRA, you become a guardian of the Dolomites: you will not only learn fascinating facts about the mountains but also how to actively contribute to the protection of our territory. It's an opportunity to connect with the Dolomite nature, which is everyone's heritage and thus requires everyone's respect. In the mood for nature? This summer we invite all science and nature enthusiasts between the ages of 7 and 11 to the Museum! For nature-loving children who are eager to spend their holiday among research, discoveries and experiments, while also visiting the Planetarium. Every day from 8 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., children will be accompanied on their adventures by two guides from the Natural Science Museum. There will be activities both at the Natural Science Museum and excursions, including a morning at the South Tyrol Planetarium in San Valentino in Campo (Gummer). The night sky has fascinated humans since ancient times. With an expert eye you can discover many things about stars, planets and constellations. Julian, an astronomy enthusiast, takes us with him during this night observation taking advantage of the total darkness to admire the beauty of the universe.

Under the professional guidance of a state-certified mountain guide you learn the abc of climbing at the Marchegg climbing garden. Equipment is provided free of charge. You only need to bring trekking shoes or runners and comfortable clothing. Food and drinks are available in the Marchegghof tavern nearby. The farmer’s wife herself provides the tasty, traditional fare in this extremely cosy tavern. Climbing courses: 10:00 a. m. to 12:00 p. m.; 12:00 p. m. to 2:00 p. m.; 2:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m. AcitvCamp for kids The day begins with the drop-off at the Rosskopf valley station between 7:30 and 8:30 AM. Then the children head up the mountain for a fun-filled morning full of games, movement and nature adventures. After plenty of fresh air, the children will enjoy a warm lunch followed by a shared camp wrap-up to end the morning. Pick-up is between 1:00 and 1:30 PM at the Rosskopf valley station. Important! Please let us know if your child has any allergies, intolerances, or other special needs. Since our AktivCamp includes physical activities, we also require a basic level of physical fitness. By shuttle or cablecar to Pawigl, then along a beautiful forest path to St. Vigil church with magnificent panoramic views of the Dolomites. On short but steeper passages we ride up to 2000 metres to the Rauher Bühel before descending to the Naturnser Alm. We ride along easy trails to the ‘Gampl’ family mountain hut, where we have lunch. Finally, we return to our bus via beautiful forest paths past a lake, the ‘Schwarze Lacke’.

The original South Tyrolean apple strudel is baked together with the farmer's wife of the 737-year-old Schildhof farm - with shortcrust pastry and without pine nuts. The ingredients, tricks and tips will be explained. A nut strudel made from yeast dough is also made together. While the strudels bake in the oven, we enjoy a vegetable strudel together, accompanied by fresh tomato salad from the garden. Finally, the dessert is served warm from the oven. The event will be in German.

On a visit to a farm garden with an experienced herbalist, you'll pick various medicinal herbs, learn about their curative properties and then process them into ointments and other natural remedies.
