From Laion, we hike along the “Walther von der Vogelweide” Trail descending towards Albions, continuing to Novale and Villnod. From Villnod, we hike along trail no. 2 towards Castel Forte. Once arrived at Castel Forte, we tour the former home of minstrel Oswald von Wolkenstein, one of the most imposing castles in South Tyrol. At the end of the tour, we descend towards Ponte Gardeba and take the public bus back to Laion. Height difference in ascent: 110 m Height difference in descent: 730 m Distance: 7,6 km

The journey begins, by taking the public bus to Ortisei. Our tour begins with a funicular ride up to the Resciesa (2,200m). From the mountain station, we follow trail no. 35 to the Brogles Hut (2,054m). Behind the hut, the trail merges into the Adolf-Munkel-Trail. At the foot of the Sas Rigais, we continue until we reach the Odle Mountain Hut (1,996m). After a well-deserved and leisurely break, we descend comfortably to Ranui (1,350m). 40 YEARS OF THE MERANO HIGH MOUNTAIN TRAIL This impressive hike along the historic Merano High Mountain Trail is a journey through time on one of the oldest high-altitude trails in the Alps. Upon arrival at the Texelbahn cable car mountain station, breathtaking panoramic views of the entire Merano basin unfold. The historic trail, once an important connection between mountain farms, leads past original alpine farms and lush mountain meadows. Particularly captivating are the expansive views of the Ziel Valley and the surrounding peaks of the Texel Group Nature Park. A hike full of history, amusing anecdotes, and fascinating background information, accompanied by hiking and cultural guide Claudia Gilli. The journey takes place by bus via Chiusa to the Alpe di Villandro. Our hike starts at the Gasserhut and leads over the Alp “Mair in Plun” to the saddle “Gasteiger Sattel”. From there, we follow the broad ridge until we reach the mountain hut at the summit of the Corno del Renon. Once at the top, we enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Dolomites. After a leisurely break, the trail leads us to the “Huberkreuz” cross in Barbiano, where the taxi is already waiting for us. During the treasure hunt in the great outdoors, we learn all kinds of interesting facts about the different breeds of cows in South Tyrol, why a cow produces milk and how butter used to be made. As we continue our walk to the Kneipp area, we go in hunt of dairy products and finally get to shake and taste butter ourselves. Who can solve the exciting quizzes and follow the trail of the treasure hunt? We then visit the animals on the farm and finish with a delicious yogurt ice cream.

Our journey takes place by taxi, which brings us to the Huberkreuz parking in Barbiano. From there, we start our hike, which takes us with a gentle ascent through the picturesque landscape to the mountain pine oil distillery. Upon arrival, we are greeted with a guided tour where we learn about the traditional production techniques and gain fascinating insights into the world of mountain pine. The guided e-bike tour starts at the Rent and Go bike rental at the Ratschings valley station. We start with a group game and playfully learn the most important riding safety tips. Afterwards we drive together along the Pfeifer Huisele path to Flading to the barefoot path with Kneipp facility. There we have a little refreshment at the witches' fountain. Fun balancing exercises await us before we head back to the starting point. The tour is fun for adults and children from 6 years (only with driving experience). On request, a child seat for children up to 20 kg or a bicycle trailer for max. 2 children up to 5 years can be reserved. The e-bike tour is accompanied by a trained South Tyrolean bike guide.

Shopping on hot summer eventings - June to August is the time of the "long shopping evenings" in the centre of Lana. These evenings are a meeting point for locals and guests to stroll and browse through the shops. Shopping until late in the evening - this is what is on offer in Lana on the balmy summer evenings from 29 June to 17 August 2023: In the pedestrian zone Lana am Gries, visitors can look forward to eight "long shopping evenings" with shops open until 9 pm. In the pedestrian zone, shopping becomes a very special experience: stroll through the pedestrian zone, discover a wide range of offers in the numerous shops, enjoy the evening... For a break in between, the cosy cafés and restaurants invite you to linger.

Starting from Laion, the taxi takes us through the Val Gardena to the Sella Pass (2,180m). The hike begins with a steady climb up to the Toni Demetz mountain hut (2,681m). Adventurous people can also take the gondola to the hut (ticket not included). At the top, we enjoy the splendid view of the surrounding mountains before descending to the Rifugio Vicenza hut (2,253m). Every year on the second Sunday after Corpus Christi, the traditional Sacred Heart mountain fires light up all over South Tyrol. Symbolizing a deep connection to the homeland, this tradition dates back to the Sacred Heart Vow of 1796, when the Tyroleans entrusted their land to the Sacred Heart of Jesus to seek divine assistance. In Val Casies Valley, the impressive fires – Christian symbols in the form of crosses, hearts, inscriptions, and beacons along the mountain ridges – can be beautifully admired from the valley. Particularly stunning is also the illumination of houses in the valley, with lovingly crafted window images and glowing signs on historic farms – a unique experience that brings tradition and faith to life.

On June 29, 2025 the cable car Kronplatz 2000 is open for a very special night - the "Sacred Heart Night" at the summit of Kronplatz.
Be there and experience a beautiful view of the adjacent mountain world during a picturesque sunset over the main ridge of the Alps and the Dolomites. Once the sun has set, a spectacular spectacle awaits you: fires of the Sacred Heart are lit on the surrounding peaks, illuminating the sky over the whole South Tyrol and giving it a magical atmosphere.
Lighting fires around the summer solstice has its origins in ancient times. The custom of solstice and St. John's fires has been documented since the 12th century. In the 18th century, however, the custom was reinterpreted: in 1796, the Tyrolean estates vowed to entrust the land to the "Sacred Heart of Jesus" to counter the imminent danger posed by Napoleon's invasion. Since then, this promise has been commemorated every year by lighting fires.
But this is not all: those interested in culture have the opportunity to visit the two museums at Kronplatz. Both the MMM Corones and the LUMEN Museum open their doors on this evening.
In short, the "Sacred Heart Night" at Kronplatz is an unforgettable experience for everyone who wants to experience South Tyrolean tradition up close. We are looking forward to your visit!

When walking in nature with your eyes open, you will find lots of materials that can be used to create surprising things. In the small workshop in the centre of Ortisei, pebbles, moss, seeds, wood, leaves, pinecones, and other natural materials are used to build small works of art together with the children. Thanks to this workshop the creations can be taken home and remind even after the holidays what great things can be made with such simple materials and a little imagination.
