During the plum weeks guided plum excursions also take place in Barbian: On 3th and 10th September 2024 you will learn all kinds of interesting facts about Barbian's delicacy on the plum trail and enjoy great plum dishes at a stop. Pawigl Bread Time. Experience the old tradition of baking bread on the farm. Where could this happen more authentically than in the Lananer mountain fraction Pawigl, on the southern slope of the Vigiljoch, where the mountain farmers still bake bread on their farms today, from 11.00 am. Already the event will take place 1. September 2024, focusing on "Pawigl Bread Time". The programme will be online shortly!

On Sunday 03.09.2023, the parish cordially invites everyone to the parish festival on the church square. 10 a.m. Mass for the patronal feast of the parish church of St. Zeno. Following the service, a small but cozy parish festival will be held on the church square. Musical accompaniment with the music band of naturno.

Many legends and tales are entwined around the world underground: there are reports of treacherous Antrians, wise and good-natured Saligen and bulls gone berserk. The underground world invites you to dream and listen to fairy tales and stories. We tell these legends to all adventurous children and their parents on Sunday, August 27th, at the Prettau and Ridnaun locations and dive into the mystical world of the South Tyrolean mines and surrounding valleys with them. In the handicraft corner, the sagas are given a new look and the creative works for the stories are published in our children's gallery. Be part of the fourth day of legends at the State Museum of Mining and let yourself be enchanted by the legendary mining world.

The local hiking guide will lead you on this easy circular hike to the show distillery. It goes past high moors, watercourses and alpine meadows. Guided family hike acrtoss the Seiser Alm, in the nature park Schlern-Rosengarten. On the way Michaela will tell you stories about our nature park, the geology and the legends around this place. Suitable for 6 years old children and older. Children must be accompained by an adult.

During the colourful autumn, families interested in nature learn in a playful way about the forest and its inhabitants together with a biologist on a walk around St. Magdalena: Which trees grow in Villnöss valley? Which animals can we observe in the forest? You will learn lots of exciting things about the forest through games, searching for clues and interesting materials. Target group: Families with children aged 6 to 12 years. On September 5, 2024, the Teis/Tiso music band invites you to an evening concert at the town square in Selva Val Gardena. Join us for enchanting performances of traditional South Tyrolean folk music and immerse yourself in an evening of musical delight.

Enjoy an evening filled with the wonderful melodies of the Unknown Brass quintet, accompanied by the virtuosity of Ermes Costa, the 2018 world champion of the accordion. Admission is free. During the event photos or video footage may be taken for the purpose of documentation and promotion of the event and the region. The footage may be used and published on websites, on social networks and on media in compliance with the data protection regulations.

On Saturday, 07 September: On this day, about 1000 sheep return from the mountain meadows to the valley. The successful return of the animals is celebrated by farmers and guests. Tasty, typical dishes such as "Schöpsernes" are served. Sunday, 08 September: The goats return from the mountain pastures to the valley on this day and their arrival is celebrated with delicacies such as "Kitzbratl" as well as lots of good humour at the festival site.

For centuries, each June shepherds have been driving their sheep from the Schnalstal Valley across the still snow-mantled saddles to graze in the pasturelands belonging to the farmers in Venter Valley in Austria. They return in mid September. About 1,500 sheep leave from the “Rofenberg-Alm“ in the early morning, reaching Hochjoch near the Bella Vista lodge (2845m) at about 11:30 a. m. The sheep arrive in Maso Corto between 3:00 p. m. The Bella Vista hut (2845 m) can be reached in about 1 hour on foot from the top station of the Roter Kofel chairlift (2543 m), follow the signs and trail number 3.

On September 10, 2023, the traditional Barbian Plum Festival will take place in Saubach from 10:00 a.m.. • 10:00 a.m. holy mass in the church in Saubach • 12:00 pm snowing of the plum strudel • Good entertainment with music is well provided. The Barbian farmers' wives and young farmers take care of your physical well-being with traditional plum dishes. We look forward to your coming!

The Lechtl Mountain Farm ATTENTION: currently, the tour is only offered in German. Lechtl – A Mountain Farm Steeped in History on the Sonnenberg in the Venosta Valley  During this guided tour, we learn how living and working on the mountain farms has changed over the years, and how the great events of world history have impacted even the most remote corners of the Alps. Led by a member of the Theiner family from the local Lechtlhof farm, we embark on a journey into the past - while also learning about the present-day challenges faced by this mountain farming community. Visit the old stube, an age-old wine cellar, the small farm museum, a blacksmith and the Lechtl farm chapel.  Duration: aproxx. 2.5 hours Price: € 12,00 per person, € 6,00 children under 14 years
