is the title of the latest musical work for voice and ensemble written and directed by Russian composer Alexander Manotskov. This site-specific composition – written specifically for the evocative upward journey to Vigiljoch / Monte San Vigilio – is based in sound and space on the idea of pilgrimage and ascent. This is an ascent is not only metaphorical, but also literal: the audience will be invited to gradually make their way up the mountain together with the musicians through a series of musical and visual experiences. Some traditional songs will emerge in this contemporary work, such as the famous song Adiyukh, which is linked to the Caucasus epic and performed by Circassian singer and actress Svetlana Mamresheva. Ascension is not only site-specific, but also ensemble-specific, as it was composed especially for Kymatic, the contemporary music ensemble led by multi-instrumentalist Alina Petrova and dedicated to the newest musical experiments. There will be two runs of this performance, from 12:30 to 13:30 (tickets) and from 15:30 to 17:00 (tickets). The event includes a ride on the cable car to the Vigiljoch (6 minutes) and the subsequent ride on the chairlift (20 minutes). The last descent with the chairlift is at 18:00. The descent is also possible on foot (walking time 40 minutes). The last cable car descent is at 19.00 hrs. All-inclusive ticket: An all-inclusive ticket (concert + cable car + chairlift, plus return journey) can be purchased on the day of the event at the cable car station (17€).

Mundane celebration of the Putzer Kreuz and alpin festival

On September 14th, 2024, the traditional "Brunschta Almabtrieb" returns to Olang! The event starts at 11:00 AM at the old football field in Oberolang. From there, the decorated cows and herders will proceed down Bödenstraße towards the village center. The final destination is the Aparthotel Winklwiese. Musical entertainment will be provided by the bands "Sigima Blech" and "Südtiroler Hoderlumpn". Of course, food and drinks will be plentiful. Join us for this special event and celebrate with us!

The traditional cattle drive from the Upi Alm alpine pasture will take place again on 14 September 2024. In the period from the beginning of September to the end of September, before it gets colder in the higher altitudes, the cattle drives take place in South Tyrol. The best dairy cows are lavishly and beautifully decorated with flowers in recognition of their performance. In the valley, the village community celebrates the arrival of the cattle and dairymen with a small feast of food and drink. Up to 2,200 sheep and 300 goats set off from the Niedertal Alm Mountain hut in Vent valley (A) in the early morning, moving upwards through high-Alpine terrain (not dangerous) to Giogo Basso/Niederjoch (3,019 m) or the Refuge Similaun, the first group in the herd arriving at about 9:00 a.m. The most dangerous part of the return journey begins here, particularly if there is snow on the ground or the trail or parts of it are icy. Below the hut, the procession winds downhill on quite a narrow trail through steep and rocky terrain (down to about 2,600 m). The ground then becomes more level and less dangerous. After a short respite in the centre of Tisental valley, the herd continues down the mountain towards Vernago/Vernagt, arriving just before 2:00 p.m. From far away (1/2 hour before it arrives) you can already see the never-ending line of sheep. Accommodation and refreshments available at the Mountain hut Martin Busch and the Refuge Similaun.

A long tradition, specially in Mühlen: the fair day festival! A local club organizes a typical feast with roast chicken, delicious sausages, pretzels, beer and wine and local music. The highlight is the “Kirchtagmichl” (puppet) attached to a tree trunk drawn in a vertical position. It takes several hours! During the night, the Kirchtagmichl must be guarded. The legendary Schupfenfest in San Genesio is a rustic gastronomic festival that enthuses locals and tourists alike. The festival offers the opportunity to combine the pleasure of a beautiful hike in the alpine pastures with the enjoyment of traditional South Tyrolean specialities in mountain huts. The itinerary allows visitors to stop along the way at various 'Schupfe', or huts in South Tyrolean dialect, between San Genesio and Meltina, sampling various typical specialities, from the inevitable farmer's snack to dumplings, Strauben and other sweet pancakes. Of course, there is no shortage of good music or company. So, off to the Schupfenfest in Jenesien, possibly in traditional costumes: lederhosen and dirndl!

At the celebration the statue of Mary descends from the altar and is solemnly carried in procession through the village, accompanied by the music band of Silandro and the group “Schützen” with saluting guns. Afterwards, the garden festival of the band of Schlanders will take place at the Matscher Au. History: 1799 Silandro was threatened by Napoleon's troops, and in this misery the “Schützen” sought their refuge in the grace picture Mary in the parish church. The "Schützen" praised to celebrate this Sunday for all time as a thank you and to bring the statue of Mary in procession through the city. In fact, the enemy withdrew.

The march starts for both cathegories at the valley station of the Haideralm and goes over the Fischgader to the Bruggeralm, where the 2 categories will be separated. The first category goes directly to the Haideralm (total 11,5km) The second categories goes up to the Schäferhütte and from there over the Grünsee to the Haideralm (total 17km). There everyone will have the opportunity to finish the day at the alp festival with live music. The starting fee will be given to the children of the family Folie.

For many years, the event has been organised with great success by the volunteer fire brigade of Glurns. After the Holy Mass and the procession, people meet at the new festival area ‘Glurns Festival’ to celebrate the harvest of the Pala pear.
