KLANGfeste: Musical Diversity in the Castle Courtyard From Viennese soul to oriental and French sounds, from Nordic folk to Mediterranean musical traditions, from vocal jazz and classical arrangements to Alpine-inspired world music. The 26th edition of the KLANGfeste summer concert series at Runkelstein Castle once again promises musical diversity with outstanding musicians. Every year, the South Tyrolean Cultural Institute curates a vibrant, varied, and high-quality music program in the picturesque courtyard of Runkelstein Castle. The concert series is made possible thanks to the excellent collaboration with the Bolzano Castles Foundation and the Castelbell Castle Board, as well as the strong financial support of the Raiffeisen Bank of Bolzano (main sponsor since the very beginning), numerous concert patrons and benefactors, and the Department of German Culture of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. The Latvian musician Ella Zirina was 17 when she decided to switch instruments, moving from piano to guitar. She studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Reinier Baas, with whom she has already performed at the Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige some years ago. Zirina’s rapid rise in the Dutch jazz scene has quickly established her as a prominent figure. With her trio, she combines virtuosic, melodic improvisations with a unique sonic universe. The Band of Schenna and the Tourist Association warmly invite you to an open-air concert in celebration of the Sacred Heart Sunday. Enjoy the festive atmosphere and the sounds of traditional brass music – a special experience for guests and locals alike.

This Sunday, Seis am Schlern celebrates the Sacred-Heart-Sunday with a procession. In the evening there will be a concert with the local band of Seis.

Every third Sunday after Pentecost, Sacred Heart bonfires light up from the hills throughout South Tyrol in the evening. These custom dates back to 1796 where the Tyrolean troops, worried about a possible invasion by French troops under Napoleon, decided to ask God for help and to entrust the Tyrol to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. After the surprising victory of the Tyrolean troops, fires were lit on the tops of the mountains and hills. The Sacred Heart Feast is introduced with saluting bangs and bell ringing. The saluting bangs are loud acoustic signals that are fired in Tyrol to announce high occasions. The festival is celebrated with a holy mass at 9:00 a.m. in the parish church of Ortisei. To celebrate the church consecration in a fitting manner, a procession with Val Gardena’s costumes and the music band of Ortisei will take place after the mass.

On Sacred Heart Sunday, the solemn tradition begins with the mass at the Parish Church of Saint Martin, followed by the Sacred Heart procession. After the procession, the Sacred Heart Festival is officially opened with the ceremonial Music village band "Pater Haspinger Musikkapelle" to the festival hut "Interessentschaftshütte Ribisen". Visitors can look forward to a festive concert, delicious grilled specialties, and an entertaining children's program. Sacred Heart mountain illumination in the evening.

A rich supporting programme around the strawberry awaits you: “Frühschoppen” morning pint with entertainment music followed by light music in the afternoon and strawberry variety tasting. Games and fun for the little guests are garanteed at the open day at the minigolf coureses and in the climbing hall. Celebrate the strawberry during this slightly different festival in Val Martello. HIGHLIGHT: Coronation of the South Tyrolean Strawberry Queen followed by the cutting of the large strawberry cake.
