Up to 2,200 sheep and 300 goats set off from the Niedertal Alm Mountain hut in Vent valley (A) in the early morning, moving upwards through high-Alpine terrain (not dangerous) to Giogo Basso/Niederjoch (3,019 m) or the Refuge Similaun, the first group in the herd arriving at about 9:00 a.m. The most dangerous part of the return journey begins here, particularly if there is snow on the ground or the trail or parts of it are icy. Below the hut, the procession winds downhill on quite a narrow trail through steep and rocky terrain (down to about 2,600 m). The ground then becomes more level and less dangerous. After a short respite in the centre of Tisental valley, the herd continues down the mountain towards Vernago/Vernagt, arriving just before 2:00 p.m. From far away (1/2 hour before it arrives) you can already see the never-ending line of sheep. Accommodation and refreshments available at the Mountain hut Martin Busch and the Refuge Similaun.

Wine Festival at the festival ground of Tramin organized by the soccer club. You are invited to taste many typical dishes, served up with good live music and excellent wines from the local wineries.

is the title of the latest musical work for voice and ensemble written and directed by Russian composer Alexander Manotskov. This site-specific composition – written specifically for the evocative upward journey to Vigiljoch / Monte San Vigilio – is based in sound and space on the idea of pilgrimage and ascent. This is an ascent is not only metaphorical, but also literal: the audience will be invited to gradually make their way up the mountain together with the musicians through a series of musical and visual experiences. Some traditional songs will emerge in this contemporary work, such as the famous song Adiyukh, which is linked to the Caucasus epic and performed by Circassian singer and actress Svetlana Mamresheva. Ascension is not only site-specific, but also ensemble-specific, as it was composed especially for Kymatic, the contemporary music ensemble led by multi-instrumentalist Alina Petrova and dedicated to the newest musical experiments. There will be two runs of this performance, from 12:30 to 13:30 (tickets) and from 15:30 to 17:00 (tickets). The event includes a ride on the cable car to the Vigiljoch (6 minutes) and the subsequent ride on the chairlift (20 minutes). The last descent with the chairlift is at 18:00. The descent is also possible on foot (walking time 40 minutes). The last cable car descent is at 19.00 hrs. All-inclusive ticket: An all-inclusive ticket (concert + cable car + chairlift, plus return journey) can be purchased on the day of the event at the cable car station (17€).

The Way of the Cross starts at 8 a.m. from the Lengmoos Parish Church to Maria Saal where Holy Mass is held at 9 a.m. in German. Followed by a feast with musical entertainment and typical specialties at Maria Saal

On September 14th, 2024, the traditional "Brunschta Almabtrieb" returns to Olang! The event starts at 11:00 AM at the old football field in Oberolang. From there, the decorated cows and herders will proceed down Bödenstraße towards the village center. The final destination is the Aparthotel Winklwiese. Musical entertainment will be provided by the bands "Sigima Blech" and "Südtiroler Hoderlumpn". Of course, food and drinks will be plentiful. Join us for this special event and celebrate with us!

Only with traditional music, in good company, and South Tyrolean specialities is the Alpine transhumance complete. Enjoyment and fun are well taken care of!

Mundane celebration of the Putzer Kreuz and alpin festival

On September 14th, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the inauguration of the new thematic trail "Valtoi – Kingdom of the Senses" will take place at the entrance to the Vallunga (Valtoi). The traditional cattle drive from the Upi Alm alpine pasture will take place again on 14 September 2024. In the period from the beginning of September to the end of September, before it gets colder in the higher altitudes, the cattle drives take place in South Tyrol. The best dairy cows are lavishly and beautifully decorated with flowers in recognition of their performance. In the valley, the village community celebrates the arrival of the cattle and dairymen with a small feast of food and drink. Traditional autumn festival: parade of the Schützen corps (shooters) with costumes and music in Schenna. The mood is festive at the autumn Schützen fair! Traditional costumes are accompanied by lively music and culinary specialities. During the festive procession, holidaymakers and locals can admire the autumnally decorated floats, traditional folk groups and music bands as they parade through the streets of the village.

A long tradition, specially in Mühlen: the fair day festival! A local club organizes a typical feast with roast chicken, delicious sausages, pretzels, beer and wine and local music. The highlight is the “Kirchtagmichl” (puppet) attached to a tree trunk drawn in a vertical position. It takes several hours! During the night, the Kirchtagmichl must be guarded. Because the boys of the neighboring village are keen to steal it ...

At the celebration the statue of Mary descends from the altar and is solemnly carried in procession through the village, accompanied by the music band of Silandro and the group “Schützen” with saluting guns. Afterwards, the garden festival of the band of Schlanders will take place at the Matscher Au. History: 1799 Silandro was threatened by Napoleon's troops, and in this misery the “Schützen” sought their refuge in the grace picture Mary in the parish church. The "Schützen" praised to celebrate this Sunday for all time as a thank you and to bring the statue of Mary in procession through the city. In fact, the enemy withdrew.

1 March! 2 valleys! 3 alpine pastures! 4 lakes! The march starts for both cathegories at the valley station of the Haideralm and goes over the Fischgader to the Bruggeralm, where the 2 categories will be separated. The first category goes directly to the Haideralm (total 11,5km) The second categories goes up to the Schäferhütte and from there over the Grünsee to the Haideralm (total 17km). There everyone will have the opportunity to finish the day at the alp festival with live music. The starting fee will be given to the children of the family Folie.

When the cattle returns from mountain pastures, people celebrate it with a colourful event in September. For this event, called “Almabtrieb”, the cows are decorated with alpine flowers, mirrors and bells. From 10.00 am there is a festival on the meadow in Ranui. Traditional dishes are offered. Of course there is also traditional music. The cows are expected to return at Ranui at around 12.00 noon. The mountain hut Dusleralm remains closed on this day.

Every year in September, the traditional Gsieser Almhüttenfest (Val Casies Mountain Pasture Festival) takes place in the Val Casies Valley, a highlight that attracts many hiking enthusiasts every year. The festival takes place alternately in the villages of Colle, S. Martino or S. Maddalena to give the many visitors the opportunity to get to know the numerous alpine pastures and the mountain world of the Val Casies Valley. This year the associations of Colle organise the traditional 37° Val Casies Mountain Pasture Festival on the Gallfallalm in San Martino. Starting point: S. Martino/village centre. The festival begins at 10.30 am. with a Holy Mass. In the characteristic alpine huts, various local dishes are served. Stausee (Reservoir): Volunteer fire brigade with spear ribs with potato salad and "Apfelstrudel" with vanilla sauce. Schäferalm: Sports club with Alpenburger and "Kaiserschmarrn". Leachalm: Farmers‘ youth and farmers with barley soup and Tirtlan, sweats and coffee. Schenker Hütte: Schützenkapelle with homemade Schlutzkrapfen and Strauben and coffee. Blasla Hütte: Club "Gsieser Natur- und Kulturverein" with "Hittnpfandl" and "Linzer" with cream. Jogler Hütte: Church choir with "Erdepflblattlan" with cabbage and typical sweets. Rustic folk music & children programme. Performance of the "Gaslkrocha" of Tesido. A unique and unforgettable celebration to end the summer in Val Casies Valley.

The day begins with a solemn mass in the church, followed by the traditional homecoming of the cattle from the mountain pastures at 3.00 p.m. Of course, there are also culinary specialities and musical entertainment. The legendary Schupfenfest in San Genesio is a rustic gastronomic festival that enthuses locals and tourists alike. The festival offers the opportunity to combine the pleasure of a beautiful hike in the alpine pastures with the enjoyment of traditional South Tyrolean specialities in mountain huts. The itinerary allows visitors to stop along the way at various 'Schupfe', or huts in South Tyrolean dialect, between San Genesio and Meltina, sampling various typical specialities, from the inevitable farmer's snack to dumplings, Strauben and other sweet pancakes. Of course, there is no shortage of good music or company. So, off to the Schupfenfest in Jenesien, possibly in traditional costumes: lederhosen and dirndl!
