Easy ski tour for beginners on the Rosskopf leisure mountain at Sterzing / Vipiteno. Start by the Rosskopf mountain station to the Sterzingerhaus mountain hut and on to the biotope Kastellacke. Turn on left here and beneath the crest upwards to the Rosskopf summit.

The Allriss toboggan run is located at the end of the beautiful Pflerschtal valley and stretches over 3.1 km from the hut Allriss Alm down to the parking lot above St. Anton. With its gentle slope, it is especially suitable for families with children, as it is not very challenging. You will need to bring your own toboggan, but a stop at the cozy hut Allriss Alm invites you to take a break after the one-hour climb and enjoy local and traditional delicacies. Perfect for a fun day in the heart of nature!
The via ferrata climbs over the rocky slopes and exposed grassy hills of Lampskopf and Gogelberg to the base of the Pflerscher Tribulaun. It is perfect for climbers who appreciate a combination of nature enjoyment and easy climbing. However, the ascent is physically demanding. Due to the southern exposure, the tour is very sweaty (bring drinks). On the other hand, after rainy days, it is advisable to wait—there is a high risk of slipping!
Start: Parking lot at the bridge after Hinterstein (1380m). From the easternmost farmhouse (signpost for via ferrata), the trail winds uphill to the start of the steel cable (45min). The climb to Lampskopf (1995m; 1.5 hours; approx. 400m elevation) is varied. The ascent continues "via ferrata-free" over steep meadows to Gogelberg (2276m), where another steel cable awaits in the summit area. Shortly after the summit, you will join trail no. 7/32A, which leads you to the Tribulaunhütte (2368m, 1.5 hours from Lampskopf). Descent via the hut approach, trail no. 8 in approx. 2 hours.
Difficulty: A to B; short sections C;
Length: Total ascent 1000m, of which 400m + 100m via ferrata
Time: 3.5 - 4 hours.
From the hamlet Gasse in the valley Ridnauntal past the farm group Entholz. Go up on path no. 24 through meadows and woods to the pasture Joggelealm. Passing the pasture Joggelealm, the path continues to the lake Fuchssee, from there following the markings to the small summit plateau with a new summit cross. The return follows the same route as the ascent.
Variant: From the valley Ridnauntal follow path no. 26 through the valley of Valtigl until shortly before the pass. Then follow a wellmarked path without numbering alongside the pastures to the rewarding panoramic mountain Einachspitz. From there follow the red-white marking, past the small lake Fuchsee, through the mountain pasture Joggelealm and the new forest road to the starting point.
This contemplative walk starts in Silbergasse and takes you gently up to the Mooshöfe farms. There, the path climbs steeply to the right and then heads south through the forest towards the railway line. Past the ‘Jagglkapelle’ chapel, the trail continues to the ‘Ploserkreuz’ cross, where you pass through a narrow railway subway. This takes you towards the Pflersch river. The path crosses the road from Pflersch and finally leads to the Maria-Hilf chapel in Außerpflersch. You can return to Gossensass along the riverside promenade. Or you can continue right along the cycle path to the church path to Ladurns.
The perfect walk for a relaxing afternoon.

From the Edelweiss hut in Ladurns, follow the narrow path no. 34 A to a flat area. Crossing this, you reach an ascent that gradually becomes steeper and climbs over a scree slope to the Lotterscharte (2139 m). From here, the trail descends moderately steeply to the alpine village of Vallming, where everything has been preserved in its original state. Take a sharp left and cross an overgrown slope on trail no. 19A. After a steep hairpin bend, you reach the small lake "Kastellacke". Turn right and descend slightly on path no. 19 to the Sterzingerhütte on the Rosskopf. Descent option to Sterzing (descent 970 metres) or back via the outward route.
From the parking area at the Mining World Museum in Maiern/Masseria follow path no. 9 to the dam before Aglsboden. Don´t cross it, instead follow to the red and white marking to the left up to the summit Horn (2164m). Now follow on a narrow path the long and fairly exposed ridge to the summit of the mountain Krapfenkarspitze. Climb along smaller rocks up to the summit cross (1 ½-2 hours). Cross the summit plateau following the precise markings. Through a rocky area follow the red white markings downward until the lake Trüben See. From there following path no. 33 you reach path no. 9 below the mountain hut Grohmannhütte. From there descent to the departure point. Surefootedness, a good physical condition and no fear of heights necessary!
From the Jaufenpass/Passo Giovo (2094m), sign no. 17 leads in a southeasterly direction up the less steep western slopes, from the south to the rocky summit. On some dangerous parts cable fuses are mounted to defuse all the more delicate points in a pleasant way. A sure foot and no fear of heights is required! Hike along this path back to the starting point.
Alternative: rout no. 12 leads from the Jaufental valley (Schluppes) to the Jaufenpass. Total duration: 1,5-2 hours.
On trail 6 behind the Braunhof snack point upwards through the forest. At the junction at the right always on trail 6 to the Saun summit (2062m). Return on trail 6A over the Prantneralm mountain hut and afterwards on trail 3 to the starting point. Lunch possibility: Braunhof, Prantneralm.
Follow trail 12A by the Penserjoch pass, passing by the Penserjoch lake and the Steinwand lake. Cross the hillside below the summit and afterwards upwards at the right side along the short fixed rope route.
Lunch possibility: Gasthof Alpenrosenhof, Penserjoch Alm
By the Rosskpof mountain station following on the right trail no. 19 until the weather cross. Following the signs to the road and along the road to the little chapel. Take here the trail on the right and follow the serpentines to Vipiteno.
The Ladurns Loop starts at the Ladurns mountain station (with dining options). The approximately 2-hour hike takes you past the Hirsch-Lacken, a biotope with two small lakes. You continue on the Dolomieu Trail until the junction to Teissljöchl/Edelweiß Hut. A short climb leads to Wastenegg, where you can enjoy a stunning panorama of the rugged Tribulaun peaks. Continuing with a gentle descent, you reach Teissljöchl and then turn left to the Edelweiß Hut, where you can rest and refuel. From here, you have two options to descend: either along the forest road marked with number 34 or along trail number 8 (starting behind the water reservoir of Ladurns), both leading back to the starting point.
From the mountain pasture Riedberg (Parking place) the trail nr. 3 to the Weißspitz/Cima Bianca. Back on the same way.
The winter hiking trail in Ladurns offers a romantic tour through the stunning mountain landscape of the Pflerschtal Valley in South Tyrol, within the Stubai Alps. Along the way, there are breathtaking views of the mighty Tribulaun on the opposite side of the valley. The starting point is the middle station of the Ladurns cable car. From there, the path gently ascends to the mountain station of the gondola. At the mountain station, there are two places to stop for refreshment (Ladurnerhütte and Pfeiferhuisilehütte).
The winter circular hike to the Flaner Jöchl at Rosskopf / Monte Cavallo ridge is an easy panoramic hike for all the family on Sterzing’s / Vipiteno local mountain. The well-prepared trail leads through the snowy mountain and woodland landscape across the valley basin and offers wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. From the nearby Sarntal Alps where the hike begins, to the view of the mountains of the Pfitschtal valley in the foreground and the peaks of the Dolomites on the horizon, through to the view into the Pflerschtal valley: a range of winter worlds present themselves to hikers as they walk along. Snowshoes are not necessary for the circular trail!
The hike to the Enzianhütte starts about 1.5 km south of Brennerbad (1310 m) on the Brennerstreet, where a signposted access road (sign "Enzianhütte") branches off. After passing under the highway, the path first goes left and then through the forest, leading you up to the meadows of Kreithof (1391 m). From there, continue on foot in gentle switchbacks through the forest to the hut "Ziroger Alm" (1762 m). The path continues through open slopes and finally reaches the hut Enzianhütte (1894 m), a private and managed mountain hut. The descent can be done either on foot (approx. 1.5 hours) or by sleigh.
During the winter season 2024/25, the hut Enzianhütte will be closed, and there will be no opportunity for refreshments.
From the end of the valley called Ratschingstal/Val Racines hike to the mountain pasture Klammalm. From there the path no. 12 leads past the lake Butsee (2362m) through mountain meadows rising up to the rocky and exposed summit area of the mountain Hohe Kreuzspitze. A magnificent view of the surrounding glaciers rewards you for your efforts! Surefootedness and no fear of heights necessary! The return follows the same route as the ascent.
The Rosskopf sledging track at Sterzing / Vipiteno is the longest floodlit and artificial snow covered tobbogan sledging track in Italy. The toboggan run leads through an impressive forest landscape, covering over 900 meters in elevation. It starts right by the Rosskopf cable car mountain station and runs for nearly 10 km round many twists and turns down to the valley station in Vipiteno/Sterzing.
Sleds can be rented directly and easily at the Outdoor Center - no reservation is necessary.
Please note: Helmets are mandatory for children! In addition, sturdy footwear is essential for a safe sledding experience!
Why not join a night-time sledging party on Friday evenings for a special experience on Sterzings local mountain. On these evenings the sledging trail is floodlit until midnight (cable car runs until 10 pm).
Snow shoe hiking trail with a splendid panoramic view on the Sterzing basin. The Kuhalm mountain hut is not opened in winter.
