The trail leads from the pitoresque Prati village through the forest upwards to the Gschließegg panoramic point and further to Sprechenstein castle, where you will find a nice overview on the Vipiteno valley bottom.

Starting by the Rosskopf mountain station on the right side along mark 19 to the biotope.
On a well secured climb walk starting from Mareit behind the Hofmannsteg firstly near the brook of the Fernerbach into the gorge. Then climb in serpentines up to a hill, where the old path begins. From there you can enjoy fantastic views down to the roaring brook. Over the new “Katzenleiter” you reach a path section, which is surrounded of ancient drywalls of the time of the ore extraction. There the path winds upwards and you can look over to the other side of the valley with silent farms. A beautiful old forest path finally leads up to a forest road, which leads to the scattered settlement “Gasse”.
Start in the Tulfer hamlet along trail 5, upwards through the forest to the Fluigenalm mountain hut (1886m, no service) and furtheron on the serpentines up to the crest. Alwas on trail 5 along the crest on the rigts side, until you will arrive to the Hööenkragen summit (2392m). Lunch possibility: Pretzhof.
Starting point: Prati (948m). From the castle Moos (Trautson street) follow the signpost no. 24 and walk towards Flains. Before reaching the hamlet turn right across the marked forest path no. 25A uphill to the “Klauserhof”. Across another forest path you reach a road, which leads to the snack station Braunhof. Alternative: different possibilities, f.e. the marked trail no. 25 or 3
Tip: “Blattler mit Kraut”, children’s playground, accessibly by car.
The hiking tour starts after the Flanes di Sotto hamlet and follows the Senges creek upwards. The path separates from the creek by the timberline and goes along the green alpine meadows up to the Simile Mahd Alm hut (2011m), in the midst of Pfunderer mountains. Lunch possibilities: Simile Mahd Alm mountain hut.
The trails starts by the Ladurns mountain station and goes to the Edelweisshütte alpine hut. Right on to the "Teisljöchl" and here turn right on mark 35. After a few minutes you will arrive to the Dolomieu trail. Follow the trail passing the Toffring Meadows until the Allriss mountain hut. Further on descend on trail 27 to the valley bottom to S. Antonio/St .Anton. Return to the valley station with pubblic bus (313).
From Maria Trens sul sentiero 2A to the Valgenäun hamlet, passing by the St. Valentines Church and further on trail 2A to the Niederflans hamlets. Turn right here in trail 3 and straight to the bunker with a beautiful panoramic view on the valley. Descent to the Mauls village on trail 3. Return to Maria Trens with the public bus (310). Lunch possibilities: Gasthaus Jägerheim, Restaurant Romantik Hotel Stafler, Gasthof Post, Restaurant Bircher.
From the parking area of the mine museum in Maiern/Masseria the designated path no. 9 leads up to the two huts. First, quite steeply to a road which leads to the plateau Senner-and Aglsboden. If you have passed the Aglsboden, the path ascends to the next section of the valley and soon reaches the hut Grohmannhütte. The rest of the hike, approximately another 300 meters of altitude on a steep trail, leads into a high alpine surrounding to the hut Teplitzer Hütte. Surefootedness required!
Descend from Rosskopf / Monte Cavallo at Sterzing / Vipiteno to Gossensass / Colle Isarco. By the Rosskopf mountain station on the right followin the trail no. 19 and 19A in direction Vallming Almen mountain huts. By the Vallming alpine village the forest road on the right side along and after a while on the left on trail no. 19A to the valley bottom. Here on the promenade to Gossensass (return to Sterzing with public bus on weekdays).
Follow the trail 14B along the crest by the Penserjoch pass. Passing the Astenberg and along trail 14A to the junction to the Tatschspitze. Take the trail 13A in direction Tagewaldhorn. Passing down the summit on trail 13 and follow the trail to the Flagger lake and the Flaggerscharte mountain hut (2482m, also called Marburger Hütte). Lunch possibility: Marburger Hütte, Penserjoch Alm, Gasthof Alpenrosenhof
From Maria Trens at Freienfeld / Campo di Trens follow trail 5 upwards to the farms in Partinges, further on trail 5 passing by the Plitschalm hut and the Trenser-Joch mountain hut (1995, both not serviced) and over the Jagerjöchl joke to the green crest to the Höllenkragen summit (2392m). It's possible to drive by car to Partinges (the walking time is less 1,5 h in this case). Lunch possibilities: Gasthof Post, Restaurant Bircher.
The trail leads from the Maria Trens sanctuary along the hamlets of Campo di Trens. To discover next to the picturesque Maria Trens village and the sanctuary is the St. Valentines church in Valgenauna.
The trail leads from the Sterzinger valley bottom to Schmuders hamlet and up to the typical Prantneralm mountain hut, which invites with a great view on the surrounding mountains. The hike descends from the pasture to the Novale hamlet and passes the Strassberg ruin, where centuries ago the local counts had their habitation.
Start by the Penserjoch pass and follow first trail 14B along the crest and then trail 14A. By the junction along trail 13A upwards to the Traminner Scharte jag (2381m) and further on trail 15A on the northwestern ridge of the summit and on stony terrain up to the Tagewaldhorn peak (2706m). Lunch possiblity: Penserjoch Alm, Gasthof Alpenrosenhof
From Fuldres followin the forestal road into the Egg valley, passing by old military street constructions and after a short walk at the left starts the trail 16. In steep terrain upwards to the Onser mountain hut (no service) and further to the Puntleider See Alm shelter. On trail 14 you will arrive to the Puntleider See lake (1850m). Lunch possibility: Puntleidersee Alm.
A narrow rocky gorge, thundering water, and a breathtaking view – the “Hölle” - the hell waterfall is an impressive natural spectacle you definitely shouldn’t miss. The water plunges about 46 metres down a steep rock face, creating a scene that is both powerful and mesmerizing.
The waterfall is also known as a weather oracle: in good weather, fine spray rises and glistens in the sunlight, resembling smoke – that's when “Hell smokes.” On cloudy or rainy days, the effect disappears, giving the waterfall its reputation as a natural weather indicator.
Your short hike to the “Hölle” begins conveniently at the parking area in Stein/Innerpflersch. First, you follow a paved road that soon becomes a well-maintained forest path. This peaceful walk through nature already makes the approach a special experience. After a while, you’ll reach a viewing platform offering an impressive first look at the waterfall.
But your journey doesn’t end there: a narrow trail leads you to a stunning viewpoint, where you can enjoy not only the full beauty of the waterfall but also sweeping views of parts of the Pflersch Valley. On sunny days especially, it’s worth pausing here to soak in the serenity and raw power of this unique spot.
The mountain pastures tour starts at the fire station of Obertelfes/Telves di Sopra. From there follow the path no. 5 for about 1,5h upwards to the mountain pasture Freundalm.
Alternative: reachable also by using the cable car Rosskopf/Monte Cavallo
The trail leads from the Afens hamlet at the entrance of Val di Vizze valley to the Pfammes meadows and on to Val di Vizze barrier lake. Enjoy the scenique of the traditional, unspoilt mountain valley.
The riverside promenade along the river of Pflersch is a particularly popular walking path, valued for its pleasant, shady location by both hikers and families. The scenic route begins at the sports field in Gossensass and leads to the Maria-Hilf Chapel in Außerpflersch. This section is also ideal for strollers, allowing families with young children to enjoy nature’s beauty with ease. You can leisurely return on the same path. Along the way, you'll find several play stations from the "On the Trail of Water" educational trail and a Kneipp pool.
An alternative route takes you across the bridge over the river of Pflersch, then right onto the riverside promenade. Early on, a path branches left, leading to Redwitzplatz, the iron spring, and the barefoot path. From here, there are several options to continue your hike: you can follow the Gottschalkweg, head to Vallming Hut, or simply return to the original promenade. Each of these paths offers different views and experiences, making your walk varied and exciting.
From Rosskopf / Monte Cavallo at Sterzing / Vipiteno to the Telfes mountain huts. Starting by the Rosskopf mountain station in direction Ochsenalm mountain hut, following the Ridnauner Höhenweg trail. By the mountain hut Ochsenalm turn left and descend to the next mountain hut Freundalm. Afterwards following the trail to Obertelfes, passing by the Witwenbrünnl spring (from here bus connection to Sterzing on weekdays.
Start by the Penserjoch joke and take the trail 14B along the crest. After the Astenberg summits follow the trail 14A to the junction Tatschspitze and Tagewaldhorn. Take the trail 13A first and pass down the Traminner Scharte and the Tagewaldhorn on trail 13. You will arrive to the Flagger lake (2473m) and the Marburger mountain hut. Here starts the ascent to the summit (2.739m) on trail 13B on steepy terrain and scree underground. One steep climb is secured with a steel rope. Lunch possibility: Marburger Hütte, Penserjoch Alm, Gasthof Alpenrosenhof
This hike starts at the hamlet “Gasse” just before Ridnaun/Ridanna. Follow the signpost “Mareiter Stein” southwards along the asphalted road. Go past the group of farmhouses Entholz/Masi di Ento. From Entholz/Ento you go into the forest, turn right at a small stream and follow path no. 24 to a fork, where following the path no. 25B you reach the mountain pasture Kerschbaumeralm.
Alternative: reachable also starting from Pratone along the asphalted road and the gravel path.
From Niederflans at Freienfeld along the forestal road in direction Simile Mahd Alm mountain hut. Before arriving to the hut turn right on the mountain trail 2. Follow the trail on scee through the small valley and ascent to the Sengesjoch joke (2618m). Descent to the Wilder See lake (2533m) over the trail. Lunch possibility: Simile Mahd Alm hut.
After parking on the forestal road after Niederflans following the trail upwards in direction Simile Mahd mountain hut. Before arriving to the hut take the trail 2 on the right and follow the Pfunderer Höhenweg over the forest limit, through the valley and on the Sengesjöchl (2618m). Continue on trail 2 along the stoney hillside to the Karjöchl joke (2919m) above the Wilder See lake. You will arrive to the Wilde Kreuzspitze summit (3133m) along the crest. Lunch possibility: Simile Mahd Alm.
Follow the street in Mauls upwards passing by the small sports field and further on over the bridge and for just 1 km on the street, than take the trail 10 on the left side up to the Ritzail farms, passing the street sometimes. By Ritzail further on for about an hour to the Valler Jöchl (1933m) and on trail 9 to the mountain station Jochtal (2007m). Lunch possibility: Kaspererhof, Bergrestaurant Jochtal.
From Platz in direction North on the forrestal road near the stream and furterhon on the steep trail 3A upwards to the timberline. On the leftside of the crest upwards along the serpentines to the Europahütte mountain hut (2693m). Lunch possibility: Europahütte, Gasthof Pfitscherhof
The circular hike to the Grubberg mountain hut runs through the picturesque Val di Vizze mountain world. The trail goes through the woods up to the mountain hut (no service), which is beautifully situated below the Wolfendorn summit. You can enjoy a very beautiful panorama over the Val di Vizze mountains.
This hike starts at the hamlet “Gasse” just before Ridnaun/Ridanna. Follow the signpost “Mareiter Stein” southwards along the asphalted road. Go past the group of farmhouses Entholz/Masi di Ento. Crossing meadows you soon reach the edge of the forest. Turn right across a stream ditch. The path leads over a forest trail with the marking no. 4A steeply up to the first mowing meadows. There is a street which leads over wavy alpine pastures to the mountain pasture Joggelealm.
Alternative: also reachable via the path no. 26 towards the mountain pasture Valtiglalm, whereby you have to turn left on path no. 24b after about half way. Also suitable as a mountain bike tour.
The Rosskopf cable car (valley station near the north park in Vipiteno) takes you to the mountain Rosskopf Monte Cavallo. Leave the mountain station on your right and follow the marked trail “Vallminger Almen”.
Alternative: by foot to the Rosskopf Monte Cavallo: starting from the valley station of the Rosskopf Monte Cavallo cable car and follow the paths no. 19 or no. 23 through a shady forest over serpentines. Then continue to the mountain station and finally follow the marked trail “Vallminger Almen”.
Tip: alpine butter and cheese
