Families feel particularly at home in the Pflerschtal valley ski area between the Brenner/Brennero border and the medieval town of Sterzing/Vipiteno. Kids from age 2 can have a blast at 'Fichti's Kinderwelt, a 5,000 m² children's winter park. At the ski school, which has received several gold awards, the ski instructors know exactly how beginners best learn to take their first turns. Experienced skiers can carve over the slopes of the forest valley ski run or enjoy the panoramic trail with a view of the Tribulaun and the Weißwandspitze peaks. The nearly 7-km toboggan run from the Ladurner Alm Alpine pasture is fun for young and old. Alternatively, the idyllic landscape in the Ridnauntal, Pfitschtal and Pflerschtal valleys boasts countless winter hiking routes and an exquisite network of cross-country skiing trails. Experienced ski tourers can climb up to the Stubai Glacier or the Zillertal Alps.

Starting point: Via Passo Giovo, park area Kalcheralm (1.790m) For those who prefer shorter hikes. First take the car to the Via Giovo – the starting point. From the large park area – signage Kalcheralm – you have to walk about 45 minutes to finally reach the mountain pasture Kalcheralm. From there you can also begin the Ratschinger Almenweg. Alternative: reachable also from the mountain station Ratschings-Jaufen in about 30 minutes. Tip: dishes of wild game, on the weekend Krapfen and the traditional dish “Blattler mit Kraut”, accessible by car, children’s playground, South Tyrolean beer from the brewery Antonius

In the Ratschings ski area, not far from Sterzing/Vipiteno, advanced skiers carve across 28 kilometers of perfectly groomed slopes, while little ones can practice skiing and playing in the snow at the “Kinderland”. Freestylers are drawn to the “Fun-slope”, featuring steep turns, tunnels, and small jumps. Skiers particularly love the north-facing slopes, offering firm snow conditions well into spring, as well as the forest descent. Above the mountain station, the forest opens up to feature a wide plain that invites you to winter hikes. The toboggan run is the perfect way for the whole family to descend into the valley together. Cross-country skiers will find a challenge on the "Platschjoch High-Altitude Trail," which runs diagonally through the gentle winter landscape on the main chain of the Alps and through spruce forests.

Our kitchen team led by our Executive Chef Alexander Wild is with great enthusiasm in the matter and will spoil you with traditional South Tyrolean dishes and light Mediterranean cuisine to international delicacies, as well as gluten-free and lactose-free diet, the fresh food grown naturally from the surroundings. From the valley head Ridanna follow path no. 9 through the forest and along the Fernerbach moderately steep up to the Aglsboden, then stronger ascending to the refuge Grohmannhütte (2.254m) and steep up to the refuge Teplitzer Hütte.

(Coming from Vipiteno) Once in Vipiteno continue in the direction of Brennero along the state road (SS12). After about 4 km you reach Colle Isarco. Stay and continue along the state road (SS12) towards Brennero for about 3Km (4min). After 3km you come across a hairpin bend to the right and another to the left. When you reach the hairpin turn to the left, you will see the motorway exit on the right. Next to the exit, take a small paved road and follow it for about 800m. Once you reach the parking lot, continue on foot along the unpaved forest road.

Starting point: Mittertal, Val Giovo (1.150m) From Mittertal you start on trail no. 13 in the direction of the Sennerberg valley and continue along the trail to the mountain pasture Bärnfiechtalm. Tip: grey cheese and alpine butter

Few cities are so close to the slopes: From the picturesque shopping streets of the former Fugger town of Sterzing/Vipiteno, it’s just a five minutes to the valley station of the Rosskopf cable car, which quickly transports guests up to 1,860 m above sea level. On Sterzing's local mountain, also known as the 'Sterzing sun terrace,' the panorama over the entire Wipptal valley is quite impressive and the Dolomites of the southern Odle mountains reach for the sky. The quickest way back into the valley is via the spacious slopes. Alternatively, discover the idyllic winter landscape of the family-friendly skiing area by snowshoes. The toboggan run is winter fun for young and old at its most popular. With a distance of 10 km, it’s the longest track with artificial snow cover in Italy.

The Grohmann hut (Italian Rifugio Vedretta Piana) is located in South Tyrol in the upper Ridnauntal near the Austrian border.

The Hochfeilerhütte was built between 1984 and 1986 by the Sterzing section of the AVS just above the former Wiener Hütte. It serves as an ideal base for ascents of the Hochfeiler and its neighboring peaks, as well as for high-alpine crossings into the surrounding valleys.
