The cable car Ratschings-Jaufen takes you from Bichl/Colle to the mountain station. From there you can hike along the Ratschinger Almenweg to the mountain pasture Wasserfalleralm and further on to the mountain hut Saxnerhütte.
This hike starts at the hamlet “Gasse” just before Ridnaun/Ridanna. Follow the signpost “Mareiter Stein” southwards along the asphalted road. Go past the group of farmhouses Entholz/Masi di Ento. Crossing meadows you soon reach the edge of the forest. Turn right across a stream ditch. The path leads over a forest trail with the marking no. 4A steeply up to the first mowing meadows. There is a street which leads over wavy alpine pastures to the mountain pasture Joggelealm.
Alternative: also reachable via the path no. 26 towards the mountain pasture Valtiglalm, whereby you have to turn left on path no. 24b after about half way. Also suitable as a mountain bike tour.
Starting point: Obertal/Val di Sopra, Jaufental/Val Giovo (1.298m)
Go left to the hamlet Ontratt and on the alpine road or on the old footpath into the valley. Behind a steep step with a beautiful waterfall (with a short detour reachable) you suddenly come to the elongated pasture and reach, always on path no. 12A, the mountain pasture Bergalm.
Short, sweet, crunchy. With quick turns to the slalom pleasure.
Starting at the inn Jaufensteg, the Pfeifer-Huisile-Path leads along the valley path to Bichl/Colle and on to Vallettina, where the ruins of the birthplace of the sorcerer can be seen. The "Pfeifer Huisele", which was above all distinguished by his humour, is without doubt one of the most famous Tyrolean mythical figures. In the manner of Till Eulenspiegel, a well-known folklore character from northern Germany, he roamed through valleys and mountains on his little donkey. His ideas were so whimsical that you can still laugh about them today. Along the way, several information signs in text and pictures inform about the life of the Pfeifer Huisile. To get back to the starting point, you can either walk back the same way or take the public bus from Larchhof.
The path starts at the base of the castle hill opposite the parish church of Mareit/Mareta, leads north facing to untouched forest territories near the creek of Mareit and ends west of the castle at its pond. On this path have been set up different natural “stations”, where the visitors – especially interesting for children – can get in touch with nature. From the brookside to bar, forest and meadows, water and mossy soils, from the ant hill to small ponds, the forest telephone and a pavilion made of different wood types – various adventure-worlds are available. Get in contact with nature on soft mossy soil! Experience nature up close, with all your senses!
The route starts at the Ratschings mountain station and runs briefly uphill towards the Rinneralm, then slightly downhill and flat past the Kalcheralm to the Jaufenpass road. Here the trail descends briefly and continues to the right on the forest road to the Platschjoch, where you return in a loop to the chapel at the 8th bend of the pass road. From there, the trail descends slightly back to the Rinneralm and continues to the Wasserfalleralm. This is followed by the final section to the mountain station.
Starting point: park area Stein/Sasso (1.350m) or park area "Hölle/All'inferno" (1.450m)
Version 1: starting from Stein/Sasso in Pflersch/Fleres walking towards the valley on the sunny side over the easily accessible pasture path in direction to the mountain pasture Furtalm. Version 2: over the forest path, underneath the Steinhöfe turn left and continue until you reach the mountain pasture Furtalm/Malga Furt. Version 3: from the gate following the signpost “Pflerscher Hölle” on your right and from there you reach the destination over a pasture path after approx. 45 minutes. Tip: special location at the valley basin, hiking tour for families, handmade products.
The starting point of this beautiful hike is the parking lot in Stein, Innerpflersch at 1,350 m. You can choose from three different routes:
The Furtalm is located in a quaint basin, offering a perfect spot for a break. Enjoy homemade products, and it's an excellent family-friendly hike. For an even more immersive nature experience, combine the hike with a visit to the "Hölle" Waterfall and its new viewing platform.

The cable car Ratschings-Jaufen takes you from Bichl/Colle to the mountain station. From there you hike along the Ratschinger Almenweg to the mountain pasture Rinneralm. Alternative: visit the Mountain Adventure World Racines
Starting point is the Hotel Larchhof in the valley Innerratschings. From there, you hike along flowery meadows towards Flading, a small hamlet at the end of the valley Ratschings. On the right side you can hear the sound of the creek Ratschinger Bach, then you cross a small forest and the destination of the walk is quickly reached.
Starting point: Ridnaun/Val Ridanna – Maiern/Masseria (1.370m)
From the park area at the village center of Maiern walk along the transit road to the Hotel Schneeberg, along the asphalted road to a fork, where you turn left and follow the signpost Martalm. Then continue on relatively flatter ground along the asphalted road, past the heating system of the Hotel Schneeberg, through an underpass and uphill in serpentines to the farm Staudnerhof. Pass the farmhouse and continue to walk on a gravel path in the Staudenberg valley. Along the river Staudenberg towards the valley to the first left bend and along a forest path following the signposts “Martalm”. After a short flat section you reach the mountain pasture.
Alternative: starting from Bergl (1.560m) the walk time is about 30 minutes
Starting from the Jaufenpass/Passo Giovo (either by car to the pass or from Ratschings/Racines by using the cable car towards the Rinneralm and then by foot to the pass). In the second case there is an additional walking time of about 40-60 minutes. Path no. 12 over the Fleckernspitze, the Saxner, the Glaitnerjoch, the Schlotterjoch to the Kleine Kreuzspitze. From this down to Flading in the Ratschingstal Valley. In case you have parked your car at the Jaufenpass: to the Schlotterjoch, then on path no. 10 to the Innere Wumblsalm, from there on path no. 15 and then take path no. 13A back to the Jaufenpass. Surefootedness necessary!
Varied ski slope by the Stocklift cable car at Rosskopf / Monte Cavallo at Sterzing / Vipiteno.
On a well secured climb walk starting from Mareit behind the Hofmannsteg firstly near the brook of the Fernerbach into the gorge. Then climb in serpentines up to a hill, where the old path begins. From there you can enjoy fantastic views down to the roaring brook. Over the new “Katzenleiter” you reach a path section, which is surrounded of ancient drywalls of the time of the ore extraction. There the path winds upwards and you can look over to the other side of the valley with silent farms. A beautiful old forest path finally leads up to a forest road, which leads to the scattered settlement “Gasse”.
The cable car Ratschings-Jaufen takes you from Bichl to the mountain station. From there you can hike along the Ratschinger Almenweg to the mountain pasture Wasserfalleralm.
This trail starts at the tourist info Ratschings in Gasteig. After an easy loop to warm up, through the Handwerkerzone Ost, you come to the old Jaufentalerweg trail at the foot of the Jaufenpass road. Follow this for the first section to the fork at km 1.8 approx. where you continue to walk uphill to the right. Past the Gringgerhof farm, a narrow path leads to the upper panorama path. After about 3.3 km you have already covered most of the altitude difference. The trail continues moderately uphill along a forest path into the valley until you cross the stream at about km 6.9 and start the way back out of the valley on the orographic right side. This leads via a loop in the direction of Ontrattberg and then in the direction of Sennerberg. Finally, from the village, the route follows the main road to St. Anton and from there, via the old Jaufentalerweg trail, back to the foot of the Jaufenpass road. In Gasteig, a loop through the Handwerkerzone West is a good way to finish, where you return to the starting point.
The mountain pasture Klammalm can be reached via Flading/Vallettina. You can either drive to the valley by car or walk across the Ratschinger Almenweg to the end of the valley. Walking time Bichl/Colle-Flading: approx. 1,5 hrs. from Flading you reach the Klammalm, following the marked trail no. 12 to the mountain pasture.
Alternative: reachable also across the Ratschinger Almenweg
From Mittertal/Val di mezzo in Jaufental/Val Giovo walk on the Waldeben-sledge run-path towards Seiterberg, left towards Wiesl to Gospeneid/Caspineto. There firstly over a footpath, then along a narrow-asphalted street past an old farmyard to Rust. Down the road, past the crossing and then on a narrow street upwards to Sterzing/Vipiteno. At the next crossing fork left – and then after the bridge go left along a gravel path. Over this path you reach Gasteig/Casateia – near the bar “Platzl”. Continue along the main street for a few 100 meters to the Hotel A.nett. Opposite the hotel at the left side of the street starts the “Panoramaweg” into the Jaufental. Hike along this path back to the starting point.
This hike starts at the hamlet “Gasse” just before Ridnaun/Ridanna. Follow the signpost “Mareiter Stein” southwards along the asphalted road. Go past the group of farmhouses Entholz/Masi di Ento. From Entholz/Ento you go into the forest, turn right at a small stream and follow path no. 24 to a fork, where following the path no. 25B you reach the mountain pasture Kerschbaumeralm.
Alternative: reachable also starting from Pratone along the asphalted road and the gravel path.
We start in the village of Gasteig/Casateia, cross the main road and go along the Mühlbachlweg trail as far as the signposts. We then follow the trail up the valley towards Stange/Stanghe. At first, a well-marked but narrow trail takes us through an interesting forest with a number of inviting benches to rest on. Soon the trail becomes wider and the scenery more varied: a river biotope, a newly-planted forest, low-growing mixed woodland and meadows. At Stange we go over a bridge and walk along the tarmac cycle path to Mareit/Mareta. If you wish, you can walk to the square by the church where an interesting nature trail begins. Exploring the themes of woodland and water, it takes you past the castle (open for visitors). The return is along the same route. You can also start the hike in Stanghe, which shortens it by about an hour. Quality of the trail: for a short distance, narrow, then wider and tarmac to Stanghe. All types of buggy. Things to see on the way: South Tyrol’s rock garden, museum at Wolfsthurn Castle (Schloss Wolfsthurn), Woodland & Water hiking/nature trail.
From the valley head in Ridnaun/Ridanna hike along the path no. 9 through a forest towards the entrance of the Burkhardklamm gorge and continue either along the gorge or on the forest path at your left side to the water barrier of the Aglsboden. From there you can reach the mountain pasture Aglsbodenalm after a walk of 10 minutes on path no. 9.
Alternative: reachable also starting from Maiern/Masseria and following the forest path (1,5h)
The hiking tour starts in Gasse in Ridnaun/Ridanna. You can also take the car and drive on for about 15 minutes. Turn left towards “Entholz” and at the sign to the Valtiglalm drive on about 2 kilometers until you reach a wooden bridge, where you can park your car. Then follow the path no. 26 upwards to the mountain pasture Valtiglalm.
Experience close up the roaring cascade on the natural new created path! A pleasant hiking tour for the whole family. From the Obertal in Jaufental walk on the pasture road respectively the new created hiking trail towards the mountain pasture Bergalm. Along the path cross the Gurgl cascade, which rushes imposingly over rocky territories and pulverizes the water-molecule. Reached the Ontratt valley, the smooth mountain stream induces to a natural Kneipp adventure.
