The train experts Martin Broy & Klaus Demar tell interesting facts about the history of the Rittner Bahn and guide you through the remise of Klobenstein & Oberbozen, afterwards special ride with historical train. Program: 10 a.m.: Meeting point at Klobenstein station with a short guided tour of the Remise, ride from Klobenstein to Oberbozen & guided tour of the remise at Oberbozen. "The machinist turns the crank, the wagon spins and purrs, a little jerk, then it starts moving..." This is a quote from 1907 when the people from Bozen took the railway Renon (Rittner Bahn) to their summer retreat on the high plateau. Even today, after 113 years, our railway still runs between Maria Himmelfahrt, Oberbozen and Klobenstein as the only narrow-gauge railway in South Tyrol.

We start at the Rappenhöfe farms in Kalmtal and hike steeply uphill through the forest, later across alpine meadows to the rustic Faglsalm. Here we stop for refreshments and then hike uphill again to the beautifully situated Faglssee lake, surrounded by alpine pastures and mountains. We have reached the highest point here and now hike along the high trail towards the inner valley. At the end of the valley, we then descend slightly to the Valser Alm. We return comfortably to the starting point via a beautiful forest path. Elevation gain: approx. 800 m Walking time: approx. 5 hours Difficulty: moderately difficult

Unforgettable hike on the bright side of Barbian. We guide you through the colorfulness of fall past vineyards, fruit trees and chestnut trees. An afternoon dedicated to apples in the company of the ‘sommelier of apples'. In the orchard he tells how this fruit is cultivated and what characteristics differentiate the different varieties. The special exhibition "Grass and Teeth" at the Natural History Museum presents the cultural history of alpine pastoralism, the wild animals before human settlement, and the changes in the landscape caused by grazing animals and today’s shepherds. Guided tours and an easy-to-understand exhibition brochure are now available. What connects a bronze stag, a porphyry marmot, and an alpine pasture full of sheep? The special exhibition "Grass and Teeth - al pascolo - may safely graze" at the South Tyrol Natural History Museum tells the story of life on the alpine pasture through pictures and objects – from grazing and wild animals in the Alps, from old and new shepherds, to cheese and herbs, everyday knowledge, and tradition. Now the exhibition is also available in easy language: In cooperation with the OKAY Office for Easy Language of Lebenshilfe, the museum offers guided tours designed for people with learning difficulties, families, and anyone who wants clear, simple, and illustrative explanations. The guided tours last about 45 minutes, take place in German or Italian, and are suitable for children aged nine and up and adults. Participation costs five euros per person (including museum entry). Scheduled dates are September 26 and October 17, at 4:00 pm in German and 5:00 pm in Italian. Additional dates are available upon request. We reach ‘Hofmahd’ in Val d'Ultimo, just before the village of Proves, where we begin our walk. We pass the Castrin alpine hut and along slopes dotted with orchids and alpine roses we reach the ‘Laugenjöchl’ yoke. Here we take the well-known Bonacossa path, cross the slopes below the summit of the Great Luco and along trail no. 10 we reach the Luco alpine pasture. From here a forest path leads to the Passo Palade, from where the bus takes us back to Lana. Altitude difference: approx. 300 m Walking time: approx. 5-5.5 hours Difficulty level: easy

Afterwards, you can roast chestnuts directly at the farmer's and enjoy a good glass of wine while learning a few more things first-hand.
