The tour begins in the grain store of Steinhaus, the former warehouse of the mining industry. Afterwards, our guides will lead you through the historic centre of Steinhaus, a unique sight in South Tyrol that was created thanks to the mining industry. The striking red houses, such as the factor house, the Gassegg residence and the church Maria Loreto, as well as the smelting hut are explained. A walk through the centuries old history of the "Ahrner Handel".

The Villanders mine in the Eisack Valley, with a wide view of the Dolomites, was one of the most important mining areas in Tyrol in the Middle Ages. At that time, silver, galena, copper and much more were mined. The Villanders Culture and Museum Association has carefully restored the mine in recent years. It is now one of the few mines in South Tyrol that is open to visitors. Guided tours only from April to October on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 and 14:30, Sundays at 10:30 (duration approx. 1.5 h) In July & August additionally on Wednesdays at 10:30 (duration approx. 2 h). Our apple farmer accompanies you through the apple meadows and tells you interesting facts about the diverse fruit. Afterwards, farmers Gitti and Sepp will make, bake and, of course, taste Apfelkiachl (apple fritters). ONLY IN GERMAN! As the old Torggl (wine press) in the entrance suggests, the Torgglerhof has a rich history of fruit and wine-growing. Discover just how far it dates back to and which stimulating spirits are produced with passion and savoir-faire in Schenna’s first farm distillery during a tour of the historical cellar rooms, led by winegrower Matthias. Don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of time to sample some in the generous tasting session that follows!

South Tyrol is considered the eldorado for cyclists and mountain bikers. In spring, the tour starts from the village square in Laion and takes us through the Funes Valley to the majestic Odle Peaks. The route leads us through traditional villages and beautiful landscapes, offering a varied ride. Upon reaching Santa Maddalena, traditional inns with South Tyrolean specialties invite us to linger.

Guided tour of the Niederlana parish church with the Schnatterpeck altar. A first church was built on this site in the early Middle Ages on Roman foundations. A very special pleasure hike for you! From the Schafflerhof farm above Saltaus/Saltusio, you'll take the scenic Merano High Mountain Trail to the Schupferhof farm cheese dairy. During a guided tour, you will learn everything about the production and origin of the farm's own cheeses. After the tour, you can put your senses to the test and taste the different types of cheese. Experience regional delicacies on a joint hike! We start in Riffian/Rifiano and make our way to Kuens/Caines to the Gasserhof farm. An exciting tour of the farm awaits us there, where you will learn how fruit spreads, syrups, juices, chutneys, pickled vegetables and much more are made by hand. During a tasting session, you can sample the full-flavoured delicacies and taste the quality. After this enjoyable stop, you return to Kuens/Caines. With our hiking guide Helmuth we start at the village square in Laion and hike over the Walther from the Vogelweide trail towards Novale. We visit some stations about its history and make a short detour to the birthplace of the famous Minnesinger. Arriving at the Castle Forte, we visit the former home of Oswald von Wolkenstein, one of the most impressive castle complexes in South Tyrol. At the end of the tour we walk down towards Ponte Gardena until Laion/Ried for a stop at the Törggelehof and from there take the public bus to Laion. The spring hike on the sunny slope of Barbian leads past fields of flowers, streams, chestnut trees and historic buildings to "Dreikirchen". Meeting place at 10am at the Information Office Barbian. Hiking time: 3,5 hours, return at around 4pm, easy hike, good footwear, rain shelter. For members of the Tourist Association Klausen, Barbian, Feldthurns and Villanders the hiking is free, for non-members it costs 8,00€ each. Bees are irreplaceable in our ecosystem and agriculture. Simply put: they are necessary for the survival of us humans. As the third most important "farm" animal (after cattle and pigs), bees pollinate 80% of our crops. Curious visitors can learn this and other interesting facts during a guided tour by an experienced beekeeper, including honey tasting, at the Birkenbrunn hotel. Costs: €07.00

What is the difference between wild bees and breeding bees, how is a bee colony composed and how is honey actually produced? Beekeeper Walter answers all these questions and gives the participants further interesting information about the industrious helpers of our nature. With the appropriate protective equipment, you can marvel at the inner workings of a beehive and experience first-hand how honey is created, harvested and processed. At the end of the tour, you can make your own beeswax cloth to take home as a souvenir. The tour finishes with tasting of the honey products. The event will be in German and Italian.

As part of a tour of the point of sale of the speck producer "Moser Speck", participants will learn about the history of South Tyrolean speck. You will also learn about the individual production stages of Speck Alto Adige PGI. You will also have the opportunity to taste the specialty and discover the subtle sensory differences. In short, you will gain a deep insight into what is probably South Tyrol's most typical quality product. The event will only be in German and Italian language!

At the prehistoric power place St. Hippolyt in Naraun, customs of the "Witches' Night" are celebrated to celebrate the returning forces of nature. After a short walk together, meeting at 8 pm at the St. Hippolyt car park up to the hilltop, a witch's fire, incense and atmospheric melodies will transport you into the magic of the mystical Walpurgis Night. For families with children, an adventure hike to the hill of St. Hippolytus is already offered with a start at 6.00 pm. Once at the top, they will be playfully introduced to ancient customs.

Bread baking at the Museum: From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a demonstration of how bread was baked according to a traditional Passeiertal Valley recipes. Visitors can watch our expert Museum bakers at work as they answer your questions and happily trade tips with those in the know. Participation with tasting and mini-guided tour is included in the admission price. The guided tour is only available in German and Italian.

The hike takes you along the Riffianer Waalweg with a magnificent view to Kuens/Caines to the Hilber Mühle, the largest mill in the Passeiertal Valley. Here, Adolf provides interesting information and stories about the mill. The tour then continues to the Pillinghof farm in Kuens, where you can taste home-baked bread and various herb butters and gain an insight into how these products are made. Fresh mountain air, plenty of free range and GMO-free feeding ensure that the pigs at the Obertimpflerhof farm in Vöran feel completely at ease. ‘That's the secret to the outstanding quality of our meat,’ says farmer Franz with conviction. This is processed into delicious bacon and sausage products using traditional methods on the farm. Guided tour of the stables, production and maturing rooms with all sorts of interesting facts about farming and processing on the farm - followed by a tasting session with farmer Franz.

Experience wine up close with our winemakers on Saturday, 03rd May 2025 at the open wine cellar day! A shuttle service will take you from winery to winery, where you can taste the wines of our winemakers and also get an insight into their wine cellars.
