Ski tour for beginners and slightly advanced skiers accompanied by a mountain guide. Descent on skis from the mountain station Grawand to an altitude of around 2,700 meters. From this point you start the ascent in the open terrain, which, depending on the conditions, brings the group to 3,100 m (glacier terrain). After a short rest, a descent in soft powder awaits you. The prepared valley run takes you back to the starting point of the tour to Maso Corto/Kurzras. In the case of bad weather, the tour will start from Maso Corto/Kurzras. Group ascent with the Schnalstal Valley Glacier Cable Car to 3,200 metres. We’ll cross the Hochjochferner accompanied by a mountain guide, experience the glacier in all its beauty, and learn many interesting and historical things. At the end of the glacier there is an ice cave at 2,800 m. After exploring the cave and taking a rest in this solitary alpine world, the path continues to the Schöne Aussicht Refuge and afterwards we descend to the Teufelsegghütte Mountain Hut. During the First World War, a complex system of military infrastructure was built on both the Austro-Hungarian and Italian mountain fronts around the Three Peaks in the Sesto Dolomites. The traces are still visibly inscribed in the predominantly iconic mountain landscape today. The exhibition shows a selection of documents, traces and memories of the First World War in the context of the landscape of the Three Peaks plateau and the village of Sesto. It combines archaeological, historical and cultural-sociological aspects. Realized by the Platform for Cultural Heritage and Cultural Production of the Faculty of Design and Arts of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano and financed by “Research Südtirol / Alto Adige 2019”.

Ganze to the stars with us! Every Thursday (depending on the weather) a stargazing tour takes place at the Maseben mountain hut. The Maseben mountain hut can be reached after a two-hour hike with an elevation gain of 400 meters, where we strenghen ourselfes with a dinner and a drink. In the second half of the 19th century, running a business, practicing a skilled trade, or, least of all, being an alpinist was far from easy if you were a woman. The period between 1865 and 1914 saw numerous wives of photographers active in mountaineering and mountain photography, and it would not be possible to include them all in this exhibition. Instead, four women photographers were selected to represent the group in this exhibition. Among them, Elizabeth Whitshed Main takes a special place as an outstanding photographer, alpinist, and the founder of winter alpinism in general and winter tourism in the region of Engadin, Switzerland, in particular. The exhibition also features works by Gertrude Bell, Eleonore Noll-Hasenclever, and Una Cameron, three distinguished alpinists, travel journalists, and women’s rights activists.
