Did you know that a section of the famous E5 long-distance hiking trail was once a Waalweg? Hiking guide Arnold accompanies you on this route, telling you exciting stories about the historic waterways and the local flora and fauna along the way. A highlight of the hike is a stop at the Schiefer fish farm. During a guided tour of the facility, you will learn all about sustainable fish farming and the careful processing of the farmed fish. From Tschengls we walk gently uphill to the Standlairhof farm. From there, we walk past St. Ottilia and along a beautiful field path back to Tschengls. In addition to various copses and forest trees, we will encounter a wide variety of well-known and lesser-known meadow and wayside plants such as celandine, rock cinquefoil, deadnettle, spiky St. Christopher's wort and woolly buttercup. On International Museum Day there is an Open Day at the Steinegg Museum. On a tour you can experience over 1000 years of Tyrolean history, customs and traditions on 1000 m² in this unique museum. An animal exhibition will especially amaze children's eyes. On International Museum Day, museum visitors will be able to watch interviews with historical witnesses for the first time (in german and italian). These interviews will be played on various screens. This project was initiated in summer 2023 and has set itself the task of recording the knowledge and experiences of the older population of the municipality of Karneid. Additional programme: 11 am - 4 pm: interactive quiz for children & families 2 - 4 p.m.: experience old crafts live 3 p.m.: "Kinderschuhplattler" - group from Steinegg Everyone will receive a genuine "Kirchtagskrapfen" from Steinegg. The visit is free of charge on this day (voluntary donation).

On the tracks of the biathlon elite: Come and experience the excitement of this large sports venue that has already hosted numerous international competitions. Take a closer look at the technical and functional rooms, the entire administration building and the spectator stands in more detail. We tell you exciting stories and give you interesting facts about the Südtirol Arena and not to be missed: we will also take a look at Antholz 2026. A film about biathlon rounds off your knowledge of the sport. Finally you can feel like an elite Biathlete and try out biathlon shooting: put your marksmanship to the test with five shots. Guided tours of the biathlon stadium including biathlon shooting at realistic small-bore conditions are scheduled twice a week from June to October in German language. The Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park also has a heart, and that is called Braies Lake. The Braies Lake is located in an untouched rock basin and is overlooked by the majestic Seekofel, it is also considered the most beautiful lake in the Dolomites. To see it all, a walk of one and a half hours on the easy circular path is enough. For our spring special and autumn special, we offer you the opportunity to book a seat on the bus that will take you directly to Braies Lake. Here you will have the opportunity to hike and stroll on your own for a few hours before returning to San Vigilio.

The tour starts in Monguelfo and follows the idyllic Val Casies Valley bicycle route up to Planca di Sopra, with several access points along the route. From Planca di Sopra, the ascent begins to Frondega and continues to the Schuier Alm at 1958 m. Here, a fantastic panorama of the majestic Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site, an ideal spot for a short break. From Schuier Alm, the hike continues with a short but rewarding ascent leads to Rosszogel 2163 m. Where you find impressive views of the surrounding mountain landscape. From the Ladin Museum we set off together to discover SMACH Val dl'Ert (Art Valley), an open-air sculpture park which in 2023 has one of the special mentions in the National Landscape Award sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Culture. Along the path you will see more than 25 works of art set in an alpine forest, among the fir trees and pastures of a stretch of unspoilt nature. This is a permanent exhibition of sculptures acquired as a result of the SMACH art competition, the Dolomites Biennale. After the guided tour in the Val dl’Ert you can independently visit the Ladin Museum where you can immerse yourself in the history, culture and traditions of the Ladin people. Ancient Mobility: In prehistory and the Middle Ages roads and paths led travelers over the Ritten Plateau to avoid the swampy Eisack Valley below. These roads and paths are still visible in some places today: at the ruins of Castle Zwingenstein which date back to the 13th century and was built to guard an ancient road. Nearby there are also remnants of a Rhaetian dwelling (2nd century BC). Afterwards, hikers pass a church whose patron saint was St. Sebastian during the plague. This same church dates back to the time of the nearby Roman road. From there hikers go up toward Lake Wolfsgruben and then proceed to the prehistoric and early historical site of Wallburg Wallner Egg. The meeting point will be disclosed upon reservation. The hike ends at the mountain station of the Ritten cable car in Oberbozen/Soprabolzano.
