Under the expert guidance of Melanie, herbalist and phytotherapist, we will discover the treasures of nature and learn exciting facts about traditional folk medicine and modern wild herb cuisine. On our leisurely walk to the Alpine pasture Tablander Alm, we will learn which medicinal plants grow right on our doorstep, how to recognize them and what mythical stories surround them. Melanie gives practical tips on how we can integrate the power of plants into our everyday lives - whether for health or culinary purposes. Be inspired by the diversity and beauty of nature. The Villanders mine in the Eisack Valley, with a wide view of the Dolomites, was one of the most important mining areas in Tyrol in the Middle Ages. At that time, silver, galena, copper and much more were mined. The Villanders Culture and Museum Association has carefully restored the mine in recent years. It is now one of the few mines in South Tyrol that is open to visitors. Guided tours only from April to October on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 and 14:30, Sundays at 10:30 (duration approx. 1.5 h) In July & August additionally on Wednesdays at 10:30 (duration approx. 2 h). At Tholerhof, both young and old, have the opportunity to gain their first riding experiences and get a feel for sitting in the saddle of these fascinating and powerful Haflinger horses and Shetland ponies. After riding, children can help with grooming and taking care of the horses. For more experienced riders, Tholerhof offers great rides in the forest around Aschbach. From high up on the horse, you'll see the surroundings from a more impressive perspective.

Keschtnriggl - Chestnut days. The Chestnut Weeks and the Törggelen in Merano and Environs have been a South Tyrolean Tradition for years. Chestnut days in Tesimo/Tisens - Prissiano/Prissian, Foiana/Völlan and Lana gets ist Name from the "Keschtnriggl" - a hand-braided basket for Peeling roast chestnuts. For three weeks, a colourful Event Programme is put on for visitors: Chestnut walks, torchlight processions from castle to castle and the "Keschtnfestl" feast in Foiana, with Music, farmers market, chestnut delicates and traditional crafts. Hocheppan Castle sits majestically on a rocky spur above Eppan on the Wine Road and is one of the most important fortified castles in South Tyrol. Built around 1130 by the Counts of Eppan, the complex impresses with mighty curtain walls, a striking keep and the well-preserved Palas. Particularly worth seeing is the Romanesque castle chapel, whose interior walls are decorated with extraordinary frescoes. These date back to the 13th century and show both biblical scenes and rare secular depictions - including the famous “dumpling eater”, a humorous testimony to everyday medieval culture. After years of decay, the castle was restored and is now a popular excursion destination with refreshments and a unique view of the Adige Valley. It combines history, art and nature to create an impressive experience. Hocheppan Castle and its chapel can be visited as part of guided tours, available every 30 minutes from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the following days: • 5. The guided hike starts in Mareit at the bus stop. From there, we walk to the Hofmannsteg bridge and then continue uphill towards Gasse. We then head up the hill where the prominently visible Church of St. Magdalena stands. We are expected there at 4:00 p.m. for a guided tour and visit. After the visit, we continue on to the “Gasse” bus stop and return to Mareit by bus.

Interested in visiting one of our characteristic farmsteads? The Moarhof farm in the hamlet of Obergoste invites you to take a tour of its barn, stables, petting zoo and dairy farm. Following the tour, you can savour some farm products such as milk, butter, yoghurt, cheese, smoked sausages called „Kaminwurzen“ and bacon.

Not only in the Sarentino Valley, the valley of the mountain pines, does the mountain pine grow, but also on the acidic silicate soils of the Villandro Alp. The power of this mountain plant is immense. The beneficial and fragrant essential oil is perfect for relaxing baths, for infusions and compresses, or as an ingredient in scrubs. In an aroma lamp, the scent helps to improve the room atmosphere. Every Monday, a distillation demonstration takes place. All interested visitors can gain insight into how the mountain pine is processed into essential oil.
