On 28 September 2025, as part of the European Heritage Days 2025, the spotlight will be on the fascinating Enzbirg hillfort at the summit of Monte Largo mountain. This impressive archaeological site on the border between Laives and Deutschnofen invites visitors to rediscover a millennia-old history.
In addition to captivating guided tours led by the Archaeological Group of Bolzano, guests can look forward to a varied festival programme featuring music, wine, culinary delights and guided cellar tours at the Hochegg Winery.
Programme:
10.30 a.m.-4.30 p.m.: wine and culinary delights at the Hochegg Winery
10.30 a.m., 2 p.m., 3.30 p.m.: guided visits of the archeological site Enzbirg
10.30 a.m., 3.30 p.m.: guided cellar tours at the Hochegg Winery
1 p.m.: official ceremony with speeches by the municipal representatives at the Hochegg Winery, with musical accompaniment by the Musikkapelle Leifers
2.30 p.m.: concert of the "Coro Monti Pallidi" choir
The 30-minute guided tours of the archaeological site are offered free of charge in German and Italian. From Hochegg, guided hikes to Enzbirg will be organized, departing at 9:00 am, 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm (distance: 2.5 km; duration: approx. 1.5 hours; ascent: 422 m).
Please note: there are no parking facilities at Hochegg and Enzbirg. A free shuttle bus runs every 15 minutes from Laives (Kindergarten in Via Pietralba) to Hochegg. From Deutschnofen, Enzbirg can be reached from the Schadnerhof farm (1.5 km, 30 minutes, 10 m ascent). Parking is available at Schadnerhof and Höggerhof.
In case of bad weather, the event will be cancelled.
