Discover the nativity scenes in Salorno
From 4 p.m., when night falls, thelights will bring our village to life and we can visit the illuminated nativity scenes.

In the quiet of winter, when the biting cold wraps around the mountains, sculptures begin to take shape — white as freshly fallen snow. In the evening, the moonlight reflects on the ice, turning the landscape into a stage of shimmering light and shadow.

Armed with barbed wire, saws, and shovels, and protected by rubber boots, earmuffs, and gloves, five groups of artists — fifteen talents from Val Gardena — will face off in a contest of pure creativity.

In January, within the enchanting setting of San Vigilio, the Snow Sculpture Festival will come to life: a true competition where the weather — hopefully merciful — acts as the silent judge of these works born from frost and snow.

From November 30, 2025, to January 6, 2026, Tramin will shine for the sixth time with Christmas splendor: the Tramin Advent Fountains invite visitors to a contemplative winter stroll through the festively decorated village. In total, 17 lovingly crafted fountains – from Rungg to Bethlehem and the village center, as well as in St. Jakob, the northern districts, and Söll – will be illuminated by local residents with festive decorations. A heartfelt thanks goes to them for their dedication and creativity. Especially by candlelight on the Advent Sundays, the historic fountains exude a special charm and invite visitors to pause, marvel, and linger.

The bells are ringing all over the year but never as lovely and comforting as during Christmas. Maybe it’s the special atmosphere or the wonderful memories that let us love the Christmastime, but also the Christmas bells spread the magic – it’s simply the happiest time of the year. Sterzing in the north of Southtyrol is surrounded by the beautiful sound of ringing bells in all its forms and sounds. The hollow and smooth sound of the church bells, or even the friendly bells of local cows and farm animals – every bell has his own importance. Christmas in Sterzing is all about joyful bells with their warming sounds.

The Merano Christmas Market provides a magical atmosphere, with daily
concerts, children’s entertainment, local customs and handicrafts. There are other Christmas markets in Merano and Environs too, offering textiles, jewelry, ceramics, glass and wooden objects. Closed on 25th December.

The Bressanone Christmas Market has been held for over 30 years. Whether it's individual gift ideas for friends and family or simply a cosy get-together with homemade mulled wines, dumpling variations or sweets. 28.11.2025 - 06.01.2026 Bruneck combines the charm of a small town with the unmistakable flair of a winter sports destination. Nestled at the foot of the snow-covered local mountain, Kronplatz, a stroll through the alleys of the old town reveals this special blend of Alpine coziness and Italian dolce vita. This is precisely why a visit to the Bruneck Christmas Market during the Advent season is an absolute must. The festive anticipation can be felt throughout the entire town. Lovingly decorated stalls invite visitors to browse through handicrafts, sweet treats, handmade decorations, and culinary delights. And with a cup of mulled wine, a winter evening can be pleasantly rounded off in good company.

The Villandro Nativity Scene Friends are creating a Nativity Scene Route in the village from the village to the parish church for the entire Advent period until the Three Wise Men. Showcases have been made in which various nativity scenes are exhibited.

During the Advent season, handmade nativity scenes built inside apple crates are displayed in various locations throughout Vadena. They were created by local associations in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Vadena.

Lights and Christmas atmospheres transform Bolzano into the Christmas capital. The iconic Christmas Market takes place in Walther Square and Viale Stazione, in the Christmas Park from via dell’Isarco to the Parco dei Cappuccini, in many streets of the historic center, and in many other locations, which become meeting places for those who love the enchanting pre-Christmas atmosphere.

In Val Gardena, the valley renowned for its long-standing woodcarving tradition, the Nativity scene is one of the most cherished and lovingly maintained Christmas customs. On Christmas Eve, the Baby Jesus is placed in the simple manger, while the Three Wise Men traditionally arrive only on January 6th. At the Cultural centre “Luis Trenker” in Ortisei, an exhibition featuring over 40 hand-carved Nativity scenes from Val Gardena showcases the remarkable variety and craftsmanship of local woodcarvers.

The snow sculpture of the Holy Family is located below the parish church of Selva di Val Gardena.
It was carved entirely out of snow by artists Ivo and his son Damian Piazza in four days, from 6 to 9 December.

The church square sparkles in christmas lights, soft Christmas music and the smell of mulled wine and fresh pastries wafts through the air - on Friday, November 29th, it's finally time: the Algund Christmas Market opens its doors.

18 stalls and two food stands are eagerly waiting to sweeten your Advent season with regional crafts, hot drinks, and traditional dishes. The diverse offerings will be rounded off with musical performances, a show kitchen on Saturday evening, the large gingerbread house from the Tauber bakery, a children's program, and of course, the ever-popular ice skating rink.

Authentic and Traditional – The Ritten Christmas Market. The Ritten Christmas Market enchants visitors with beautifully decorated stalls, high-quality handicrafts, atmospheric music, and local specialties. A varied programme of events and children’s activities makes a visit to the Ritten Christmas Train Market (Rittner Christbahnl) an unforgettable experience, turning the Advent and Christmas season into something truly special. The Ritten Christmas Train Market at the Oberbozen railway station, in the historic Plattner Beekeeping Museum in Wolfsgruben, and in the village centre of Klobenstein is open during Advent and Christmas time on Fridays from 2 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Ritten Railway connects the three locations every 30 minutes. On all opening days: Nativity scene exhibition at the historic Plattner Farm in Wolfsgruben. On Saturdays and Sundays: Horse-drawn carriage rides from Klobenstein station to the village centre, introductory pony riding, and llama and pony walks in Oberbozen. The art of woodcarving has a centuries-old tradition in Val Gardena. Originally it was a pastime for the whole family during the long winter evenings. Today, woodcarving extends from sacral to contemporary art. In the compact introductory course, you will try relief carving and learn the basic knowledge of this craft under expert supervision.
