The Berghotel Schlemmer in Plancios serves classic South Tyrolean specialties such as Knödel (dumplings) and Kaiserschmarrn (a dessert made of shredded pancakes) – and not only to its guests. The boss himself is responsible for the delicious dishes, trying to use only fresh and local products and to make as much as possible on his own (ravioli, noodles, dumplings, soups,...)

You will find us on the Plose, the local mountain of Brixen, where the Eisack valley displays its natural beauty and heaven and earth are particularly close. Dark forests and soft meadows are our only neighbors. The Trametsch mountain hut – led by Roswitha and Andreas Ellemund- is above Plose valley station and is easily accessible to visitors by car (large car park), as well as to hikers and skiers. As restaurant located right at the bottom of the mountain, we are open all year round. In addition to daily activity, our restaurant in Brixen at the Plose is available also for diverse celebrations and events.

In our Restaurant you can choose from our menu daily; we serve both local and Italian specialities. You are also welcome to sit together on the terrace on an afternoon and enjoy a hearty local “Brettljause” – a snack platter with cold meats and cheese.

A winery has existed in Novacella since 1142, and thus the monastery winery is one of the oldest active wineries in the world. In addition, it is one of the most important in the Valle Isarco and the representative of an outstanding white wine area.

Within that context, the assortment on offer by the monastery winery is in fact primarily white but not exclusively so.

“Some 70 percent of our production is white wines: Sylvaner, Müller Thurgau, Kerner, and Riesling that grow from the Bressanone valley basin up to 900 meters,” says winemaker Celestino Lucin. The care and prudence that he practices hold true not just in the winery, but through a large number of additional circles. Thus the winegrowers work their vineyards in a sustainable manner, and the entire winery works in a CO2-neutral way.

Even if the Novacella Monastery Winery is renowned above all else for its white wines, the red varieties do indeed also play a role. They make up 30 percent of the production, whereby the grapes do indeed grow in vineyards belonging to the monastery, but not in and around Bressanone. “The climate would be too harsh for them,” Lucin is convinced. His Schiava, Pinot Noir, and Red Muscat thus have their origins in Bolzano and Cornaiano.

But it doesn’t matter whether it is red or white: the calling card of the monastery winery has been and remains the Praepositus line. And because that is the case, it is at the same time also an homage to the leader. Praepositus is the Latin word for the provost, and thus the abbot of the monastery.

As pioneers of the variety, our father and grandfather planted it on the slopes of Kranebitt and Neustift. Since then it has become one of the most highly valued wines in the Eisack Valley. Our cottage is located in a sheltered hollow with View of the Pfunderer, Vedrette Tures and mountain ranges, with the Zillertal glaciers in the background. On the Rodenecker Alm lead not only beautiful hiking trails, but also varied tours for amateur cyclists and bikers Power. Forest and meadow paths, gravel roads and single trails of varying difficulty writhe on the promising plateau. Fitness enthusiasts will enjoy Nordic Walking Routes in momentum. The pension is situated in a privileged and elegant position offering a beautiful view of the Plose and of Gitschberg. The old diocesan town of Brixen has many friends who relish coming again and again. SHORT CHRONICLE OF THE HOTEL
After the railway to the South had been built in the year 1867, the necessity for a catering facility near the station was felt. Mister Johann Jarolim bought a site from the Imperial and Royal Administration of the Railways on condition that he should build a hotel. This happened in the year 1890. The hotel was called Hotel Bahnhof (Station Hotel). 1905 it was extended and 1912 another story was built. Since that time the hotel has assumed its present-day dimensions. During World War I Brixen/Bressanone was a major training area and the Austrian officer's mess was in the hotel. These were hectic times for the hotel and it was very busy day and night. On the occasion of the visit of the Queen Helen of Italy to Brixen on July 5, 1935, the hotel was given the name of the Italian royal dynasty "Savoia". During World War II German officers were accommodated and at the end of the war the hotel was occupied by American troops. After the war the name of the hotel was changed again and it is called now the Jarolim Hotel. On occasion of the disturbances in South Tyrol in the year 1961 the hotel was occupied again. This time for 6 years by a special unit of the Italian police. Afterwards the hotel has been renovated little by little so as to get its today's class.
