Thanks to many donations, the Heilig-Geist-Spital hospital became agriculturally self-sufficient. The old fountain basin in the inner courtyard, carved from one single piece of stone, still bears testament to the former agriculture.
When Postpark was redesigned, a fountain was erected some decades ago which resembled the classic polygonal Brixen city fountains in shape and material but was much larger and marked a central spot in the park.
Lions have commonly been used as fountain decorations since ancient times. The motif was particularly popular during the Baroque period. The marble fountain by the former city wall (on the corner of Regensburger Allee and Kassianstraße) with its lion’s head water outlet and water basin in the shape of a seashell also dates back to that period.

In the process, the project engineer, the architect Stanislao Fierro, also designed a modern fountain located in the corner between the ramp leading up to the bridge and the stairs under the Nepomukbogen archway, reminding people of the times when the laundresses would pass underneath the archway to descend the stairs to the Eisack river.

The current seminary building was built in the years 1764-1771 under Prince-Bishop Leopold of Spaur on the site of the old pilgrims' hospice and was consecrated on 28 June 1767. Today the seminary is the seat of the Theological-Philosophical Seminary.
After the great flood of 1882, the Eisack and Rienz rivers in Brixen were obstructed and the confluence relocated approximately 300 metres downriver. The embellishment association, which was founded in 1885, created a green space in the newly won area between the two rivers and named it “Rappanlagen” in honour of the then governor, Franz von Rapp. The new space also received a fountain.

Monastery of Novacella was founded by the blessed bishop Hartmann in 1142 as an Augustinian monastery. Thanks to its monastery school it became one of the most important centre of education and art. In 1742 the monastery was the largest in Tyrol, the Romanesque abbey church of Abbazia di Novacella was redesigned in Baroque style. Unique at the monastery of Novacella is the round building of Castello dell'Angelo, former hostel and defence facility. The Gothic cloister benefits from valuable frescoes, while the well in the courtyard depicts the wonders of the world. The 8th wonder is said to be Novacella. The Rococo library of the monastery of Novacella is uniquely beautiful, the Pinacoteca houses medieval paintings by outstanding masters Michael and Friedrich Pacher and Marx Reichlich. The Turkish wall dates back to turbulent times. The mill, water buildings and wine cellar point to the economic importance of the monastery. The area around the monastery is the northernmost winegrowing region of Italy with the well-known white wines Sylvaner, Müller-Thurgau and Kerner.

Even the city law book of 1604 referred to a public fountain “by the mill stream in Stufels”. It was relocated several times due to the flood of 1882, the construction of the new bank reinforcements, and the construction of a new road, Elvaser Straße. It has, however, always remained in the same general area.
The fountain in Altenmarktgasse alley is mentioned in the 1604 city law book as one of the ten public draw wells in Brixen. It was probably originally built for the market town located outside the city walls. While the market was soon moved into the city, probably for security reasons, causing the name “forum vetus” (“old market”) to turn up as early as in 1223, the market town kept on developing and the fountain was most welcome, also seeing as the cattle market was held there once again from 1820 to 1867. The historic picture was taken in 1907. The fountain is still the same today.
According to the city law book of 1604, one of the city’s ten public draw wells was located right outside the former Anreiterische Trinkstube tavern under the Große Lauben arcades. The Anreiterische Trinkstube became Café Pircher in 1822. In 1913, the new Hotel Tirol was built in that place, which nowadays houses a branch office of the Volksbank bank. The fountain is still in the same place, however, and while it has been restored, its traditional shape has been preserved.
