From Melag (car park) in northern direction diagonally left to the upper end of the drag lift. From there diagonally right over the southern slope up to a level with a crossroads (2090 m). Flat right to the bridge over the Melager stream. On the right side of the valley inwards to point 2321 m on the map. Here the brooks divide ("Zwischenbach" on the map). One climbs up a little steeply to the left of the right stream and ends on a hill at the beginning of a wide, flat valley. Through this valley to its end. There through a short but steep hollow up to a saddle (2600 m). Through the following, flat hollow at the left edge until
to their end. Up through a hollow again. Then first right over a ridge and further left into a flat depression (2800 m). Through it, then again left through a hollow and right up to the yoke with the wayside cross. Up to the elevation at 3049 m, one climbs another half hour with the skis on the left and then over a short ridge - not difficult - to the worthwhile lookout point with a pole.

Sci tour to the Piz Chavalatsch mountain

Beautifully situated on the Fallatschkamm ridge between the Stilfserjoch ridge and Val Müstair/Münstertal valley, the Piz Chavalatsch mountain (2,763 m) offers one of the best viewpoints in all of the Vinschgau/Val Venosta valley. The tour that leads to Piz Chavalatsch is very popular and highly recommended, as it is both one of the easiest and most beautiful: it is a rewarding mountain hike that presents no real difficulties worth mentioning. Next to the summit cross is a former Italian customs hut that now serves as a relay station for amateur radio enthusiasts in the Vinschgau valley. The trails are very gentle and there are no exposed or difficult sections. Because the described route is on the sunny side, ascending during the hottest part of the day should perhaps be avoided.

Graun im Vinschgau/Curon Venosta, Vinschgau/Val Venosta
Starting point: Small car park (1920m) at the end of the road to Rojen/Schöneben. Descent: along the ascent route Notes: In good conditions and with a sensible choice of route, the tour does not present any particular difficulties. Avoid at all costs in unfavourable visibility conditions (orientation difficulties!) Ascent: On the right side of the valley, the route is initially rather flat, heading south-westwards. Before you come to a collection of idyllic mountain barns, you climb over the gentle slopes of the mountain meadows, keeping slightly to the right, before ascending to the right over an almost treeless ridge. The first slope is a little steep and requires caution, then continue over the ridge until you reach the Wetterkreuz cross south of the Inn. Nockenkopf (up to here the tour corresponds to that to the Inner Nockenkopf). Continue westwards over gentle hollows. At first glance, the destination is not yet clearly recognisable, but as the ascent progresses, everything becomes clearer. A little caution is required on the last summit slope, which is negotiated from left to right. Further ascent: You can also continue further into the valley and follow the first section of the route to the Grionkopf, then, always skilfully avoiding steep slopes and V-slopes, turn right up towards Grionplotten.
