The Wiener Sängerknaben is one of the most famous choirs in the world, and one of the oldest: the first reference to choirboys in Vienna Castle dates back to 1296. Two hundred years later, on July 7, 1498, the future Roman-German Emperor Maximilian I founded a chapel in Vienna in which boys were to sing alongside adult singers; choirboys from Augsburg, Innsbruck and Freiburg im Breisgau were sent to Vienna for this purpose. They were to sing "an ambt" every day. This laid the foundation for the Vienna Boys' Choir. Like their modern-day successors, the boys were always "on the road" with their imperial employer - they sang at imperial festivals, coronations, weddings, processions and court festivals. Over the centuries, the Viennese court attracted brilliant musicians such as Heinrich Isaac, Johann Josef Fux, Christoph Willibald Gluck and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Joseph and Michael Haydn and Franz Schubert sang in the choir as boys; Anton Bruckner was their singing and piano teacher.

5/8erl in Ehr'n (A): ‘BURN ON!’
Max Gaier, Robert Slivovsky: vocals
Miki Liebermann: guitar
Hanibal Scheutz: bass
Clemens Wenger: electric piano, accordion
Their style is often described as Viennese soul. With no fewer than 6 Austrian Amadeus Music Awards in the Jazz/World/Blues category and around 1,000 concerts in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, they now come for the first time - what an honour! - in South Tyrol, guests at Carambolage!
Their seventh album BURN ON! supersedes the social disease Burn Out: Our society is under constant stress, but the motto seems to be ‘keep going until you're exhausted’. Breaks? None planned. With BURN ON!, however, the 5/8erl in Ehr'n turn the tables, offering sound therapy and songs dedicated to the wonderful dolce far niente. Their Viennese soul becomes an antidote against the oppressive everydayness of our times.
In more than 18 years, they have perfected a relaxed and original groove, playing music of a thousand influences that spans the Danube, Nile, Amazon and Mississippi. At times, the plucked guitar is reminiscent of traditional Viennese music, only to transform into a muffled, woody sound like that of an African kalimba. Calypso, rocksteady, jazz ballads, bossa nova: everything sounds like 5/8erl in Ehr'n from Vienna, with soul as a distinctive constant.
‘Like Stevie Wonder smoked a Sachertorte!’ There is nothing prepackaged or synthetic here: the 5/8erl in Ehr'n make music and sing with a joy that conquers. BURN ON!
Date: Saturday 29 March 2025 at the Piccolo Teatro Carambolage starting at 20.00h.

Simon (accordion, vocals) & Mac (drums, vocals) present a unique show together. Together they perform rousing modern pop songs and well-known hits. Their music skilfully combines tradition and modernity, and their show is unique in this form.
For me, jazz is democracy and a game that requires the right partners,” describes percussionist and jazz musician András Dés and continues: ”like Martin Eberle, Philipp Nykrin and Kenji Herbert, who each enrich the interplay with their special musicality. This democratic playing becomes more important when we courageously admit mistakes, show our vulnerable side and become fully involved in the musical process. Trust, empathy, openness and the willingness to take risks are crucial. The free improvisations that connect our compositions arise organically and, like life itself, lead us to our goal. Because music is life.”
The András Dés Quartet's new album was released in March 2024 on BMC Records under the title “Unimportant Things” and is now coming live to Brixen.
