The South Tyrolean Whipcracking (‘Goaslschnöller’) Association invites you to the Whipcracking Championship. Whipcracking will be performed in groups of 2, 3 or 4, and judged on posture, volume and timing. The loud whipcrack sound has been used by South Tyrolean herdsmen to drive cattle for centuries. However, whipcracking was also a means of communication over long distances on the alpine pastures, for example to communicate when food was ready or someone was injured. Today, it’s used at religious events, village and alpine festivals, parades and Alpine cattle drives to keep the old tradition alive. The 25th anniversary of Goaßlschnöller Villnöss valley is also celebrated. Followed by an after show party in the tent.

The Gustav Mahler Music Weeks are celebrating their 45th anniversary in 2025 and will take place in Dobbiaco from 12 July to 5 August. The festival honours the composer, who created his last masterpieces here, with top-class orchestral and chamber music concerts, an international symposium on the topic of ‘Mahler and humour’ and exciting lectures. A special highlight is the hike to the composer's cottage with musical accompaniment. The concerts take place in the Gustav Mahler Hall of the Grand Hotel Toblach cultural centre - surrounded by the impressive backdrop of the Dolomites.

You can expect an evening full of captivating rhythms from Piazzolla, Francini, and Gardel, as well as works by the Merano-based composer Marcello Fera, including his piece "Cuatro" (a commissioned work by the South Tyrolean Artists' Association): pulsating rhythms guided by the idea of understanding dance as the origin of the art of sound. On Sunday, July 13, 2025, the Cäcilienchor Amden (Switzerland), conducted by Lukas Spalinger, will perform the Mass in E-flat major by South Tyrolean composer Tobias Psaier. The celebration will take place at Bolzano Cathedral (Maria Assunta) at 10:00 AM. Music lovers from Bolzano and the surrounding area are warmly invited. Founded in 1808, the choir is a member of the Church Music Association of the Diocese of St. Gallen. Through the performance of sacred music from past and present, it fulfills its role both in liturgical services at the parish of Amden on Lake Walen and in external concert appearances.

We are deeply attached to our Ladin traditions and we would like to give them as much value as we can. That is why we want to introduce you to our traditional music. And where better than in a mountain hut? The majestic peaks of the Dolomites will be the backdrop for the concert of the alphorn trio Cors da munt Sassongher. During the event photos or video footage may be taken for the purpose of documentation and promotion of the event and the region. The footage may be used and published on websites, on social networks and on media in compliance with the data protection regulations.
