The world of sparkling wines 2024 Monday

Kaltern an der Weinstraße/Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino, The South Tyrolean Wine Road

Sparkling wine tasting and guided visit at the Kettmeir winery. The journey starts with a tour of the historic winery and ends with a final wine tasting. Participants will learn the difference between the definitions Brut, metodo classico and doux. They will also discover what the pupitre is used for and what remouage is. Magical Walpurgis Night at St. Hippolyt (TESANA)

At the prehistoric power place St. Hippolyt in Naraun, customs of the "Witches' Night" are celebrated to celebrate the returning forces of nature. After a short walk together, meeting at 8 pm at the St. Hippolyt car park up to the hilltop, a witch's fire, incense and atmospheric melodies will transport you into the magic of the mystical Walpurgis Night. For families with children, an adventure hike to the hill of St. Hippolytus is already offered with a start at 6.00 pm. Once at the top, they will be playfully introduced to ancient customs.

It's spring, nature is awakening and "Lana blossoms" once again from 1 to 30 April 2024. Blossoms and wild herbs once again play a special role in the spring events in Lana and the surrounding area and offer countless opportunities to get to know them better: spring highlights, creative workshops, themed lectures, wild herb hikes and much more are on offer. The Farmers' Mile of Delights in the centre of Lana awaits visitors on Saturday, 6 April with more than 50 South Tyrolean farm stands. The Apple Blossom Golf Tournament on Saturday, 13 April invites you to kick off the golf season with a tee-off and spring menu right on the green. The traditional Blossom Farm Festival on Sunday, 21 April is dedicated to the historic farms and farmsteads, which give the public an insight into farm life and treat them to farmhouse delicacies.

Ötzi Glacier Tour - skitour to the place of discovery Ötzi

The Ötzi Glacier Tour is an extremely varied one day round tour, which crosses the main chain oft the Alps. It takes place every Tuesday and upon request. The undisputed highlight of this accompanied glacier skitour is the discovery site of Ötzi the Iceman (3,210 m). Starting from Kurzras. From there we will travel by cable car to the Grawand mountain terminal (3,100 m./10,170 ft.), the actual starting point of our tour. From there, we will travel over the Hochjochferner (2,800 m / 9,186 ft.) to the Schwarze Wand and on to the Hauslabjoch (3,280 m./ 10,761 ft.) We will then descend to the Tisenjoch (3,210 m. /10,532 ft.), the site where Ötzi was discovered. After a brief stop, we will ascend to the Hauslabjoch and descend into the Hochjoch Valley and continue down the valley to Kurzras. With suitable snow conditions, the course of the tour may change after the site where Ötzi was discovered: descent past the Similaun Refuge (3,019 m / 9,905 ft.) and through the Tisen Valley to Vernagt am See. Return to Kurzras. Requirements and conditions of participation: change in elevation ↑ approx. 600 m (1,969 ft.), ↓ approx. 2,100 m (6,890 ft.); duration: approx. 7 hours; basic physical condition; good parallel skiing ability (ski tour experience not necessary).

Walther von der Vogelweide, the most important of the German-speaking minnesingers, has left a deep mark not only on literature, but also on Lajen. Thus would Walther von der Vogelweide have probably received us, bidding us “willekomen” to his home of Lajen, which he left in the late 12th century in order to conquer the entire German-speaking world with his songs and poems. Walther was the star minnesinger, the one who knew how to entertain the ladies and gentlemen at court – up to and including numerous crowned heads. As a consummate professional, he knew exactly what his audience wanted to hear, whether it was poems about noble ladies and (not so noble) girls, or works with a more solid content: crown, church, crusades.

Wild herbs in the kitchen - Lana in bloom 2024

"LANA IN BLOOM" – in pots and on plates. That spring is tentatively preparing to make its debut, is noticeable from the first bulbs appearing on the new branches of trees and shrubs, or well-tended pot plants in private gardens, and a wide range of herbs growing in the wild. Nature’s reawakening also fires the creative imagination of the restaurant chefs in and around Lana. Between 1 – 30 April 2023, during the "Lana in Bloom" gourmet weeks, there are abundant reinterpretations of traditional delicacies using seasonal wild herbs and fresh local ingredients. Lana’s annual food festival is supplemented with local D.O.C. certified wines, fastidious attention to detail — and an overall ‘feel-good’ atmosphere.

Every year in Spring, Brixen is the venue for the Water Light Festival. From 24 April to 12 May, the sixth edition of the Water Light Festival will take place at nightfall in the town of Brixen and during the day in the Neustift monastery (until 29th of June 2024). Once again, this year, artists from all over the world will bring their creative ideas to South Tyrol. The Water Light Festival combines light art, contemporary art and environmental awareness. The aim is to create awareness and sensitivity and to encourage reflection. The installations combine creativity, visual illusions, lyrical elements and stimulate reflection. The focus is on the elements of water and light. Natural spring hike to Dreikirchen

The spring hike on the sunny slope of Barbian leads past fields of flowers, streams, chestnut trees and historic buildings to "Dreikirchen". Meeting place at 10am at the Information Office Barbian.
