Game Ground returns, the video game festival that from October 11 to 19 transforms the city of Bolzano into the Italian capital of gaming. Among the special guests: Katsuhiro Harada, legendary creator of Tekken, MikeShowSha, streaming star, and industry figures like Maciej Kwiatkowski (Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 4). Hocheppan Castle sits majestically on a rocky spur above Eppan on the Wine Road and is one of the most important fortified castles in South Tyrol. Built around 1130 by the Counts of Eppan, the complex impresses with mighty curtain walls, a striking keep and the well-preserved Palas. Particularly worth seeing is the Romanesque castle chapel, whose interior walls are decorated with extraordinary frescoes. These date back to the 13th century and show both biblical scenes and rare secular depictions - including the famous “dumpling eater”, a humorous testimony to everyday medieval culture. After years of decay, the castle was restored and is now a popular excursion destination with refreshments and a unique view of the Adige Valley. It combines history, art and nature to create an impressive experience. Hocheppan Castle and its chapel can be visited as part of guided tours, available every 30 minutes from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the following days: • 5. Sonja will provide you with information about the South Tyrolean Alpine apple, variety overview, cultivation methods, field work, processing, and marketing. You can expect a tasting of apples and apple juice from a local producer, along with a short walk through nearby orchards. Duration is approximately 1.5 hours. A minimum of 4 participants is required. Meeting point is directly at the Kalterer Moos farm No. 16, Pomaria Court, after the Moos Bar (gas station towards Auer) 20 meters. The authentic wine experience for all senses takes place in the newly created wing of the Cantina Kurtatsch. During the visit, you will gain fascinating insights into the importance of terroir, the variety of Kurtatsch’s vineyard sites, and its unique wines. The educational TERROIR Experience will lead you into the new dolomite barrique cellar with its natural rock wall and conclude with a tasting of 5 wines from our TERROIR line. The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 18 people. Please note that dogs are welcome in our wine shop and on the terrace, but for hygiene reasons they cannot take part in the guided tours. Südtirols Süden Card: If you are in possession of the “Südtirols Süden Card”, please indicate this in the appropriate field when booking. The discount will then be applied automatically. The special exhibition "Grass and Teeth" at the Natural History Museum presents the cultural history of alpine pastoralism, the wild animals before human settlement, and the changes in the landscape caused by grazing animals and today’s shepherds. Guided tours and an easy-to-understand exhibition brochure are now available. What connects a bronze stag, a porphyry marmot, and an alpine pasture full of sheep? The special exhibition "Grass and Teeth - al pascolo - may safely graze" at the South Tyrol Natural History Museum tells the story of life on the alpine pasture through pictures and objects – from grazing and wild animals in the Alps, from old and new shepherds, to cheese and herbs, everyday knowledge, and tradition. Now the exhibition is also available in easy language: In cooperation with the OKAY Office for Easy Language of Lebenshilfe, the museum offers guided tours designed for people with learning difficulties, families, and anyone who wants clear, simple, and illustrative explanations. The guided tours last about 45 minutes, take place in German or Italian, and are suitable for children aged nine and up and adults. Participation costs five euros per person (including museum entry). Scheduled dates are September 26 and October 17, at 4:00 pm in German and 5:00 pm in Italian. Additional dates are available upon request.
