A lot of action awaits you at the Coppa Italia Downhill race at Kronplatz! From October 3 to 5, 2025, the best riders will be battling for victory on one of the most challenging routes in the Kronplatz Bike Park: technical passages, breathtaking jumps and plenty of thrills await the participants on the first part of the Herrnsteig Trail. Be there when the elite of downhill sport put their skills to the test!

The starting point is Weißbrunn at the far end of the Ultental Valley. We hike through larches and Zirmenwald forest high above the valley to the rear Flatschberg Alm. After a good rest, we descend to St. Gertraud. Altitude difference: Ascent 490 m, descent 600 m. Walking time: approx. 3.5 hours Difficulty: easy hike

From the bridge on the road to the Timmelsjoch Pass at the end of the Val Passiria valley, we begin our hike along the high-altitude trail “Tiroler Höhenweg,” which gently ascends through the forest. The final section climbs more steeply, leading us up small switchbacks to the Monteneve mine. We take a break at the Monteneve inn to refresh ourselves, then continue on to the “Obere Gostalm” mountain pasture, before returning to the road to the Timmelsjoch Pass. We start with our hiking guide in front of the information office in Laion, where the cab will take us to Monte Pana (1600m). From here we take the shuttle (for a fee), he brings us to above Monte Pana. From here we hike trought the Ochsenwald and then to the Zallinger inn (2054m). Stopover at the hut followed by a joint toboggan run (for a fee) or by foot (by arrangement) down to Saltria, where a shuttle take us back to Monte Pana. The cab is already waiting for us and takes us back to Laion. Walking time: 2,5 h Height difference in ascent: 250 m Height difference in descent: 390 m Route: 8 km

A snowshoe hike to discover the winter magic of Resciesa. In the company of a guide you will explore the Resciesa Alp in the middle of the Puez-Odle Nature Park, which offers a wonderful view of the surrounding landscape. Arrival by cab via Val Gardena to Ortisei to the valley station Rasciesa (1.304m). Our tour begins with the ride of the funicular (fee required) to the Rasciesa (2,254m). Once you arrive at the mountain station, start heading East by passing behind the hut. Although you'll be following a prepared track, it's possible to put on your snowshoes right away! After only a few minutes you'll reach the Cason hut. Keep wakling until you reach a crucifix, then continue uphill through the woods. Soon you'll reach the edge of the forest and the wide pastures of Resciesa will extend at your feet. You'll notice a little tower made of rocks nearby - it's called "Ciampanil de Livio" and was built by a bored shepherd while his sheep were grazing in the surrounding pastures. From here you'll be able to clearly make out the crest of Resciesa. You can reach it in little time by following a trail uphill. Once you get to the ridge, walk along it to the west (you should be able to make out a crucifix in the distance) and you'll eventually reach the highest part of the alp. Take your time to enjoy the 360 degree view from the top. To your left, you'll be able to admire the pastures above Villandro, to the North the mountains of Zillertal, to the South Alpe di Siusi with mount Sciliar and the Rosengarten, and to the East of course the unmistakable Odle mountains. This view alone is worth the excursion - it's one of the best in the valley. Once you've taken it all in, simply hike back in direction Resciesa hut - that is your last chance to enjoy a well-deserved break before returning to the middle station and getting back to Ortisei. “Snow Tubing by night” takes place every Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Both young and old can race down the fun track on inflatable tubes, creating unforgettable winter evenings. Participation is free with the Guest Pass of the Kronplatz Dolomites Region (Olang, Antholz Valley, Bruneck, Kiens, St. Vigil). All others pay an entry fee of €5.00.

From the top station, take trail no. 35, to the Brogles Hut (2054m). Behind the hut the path joins the Adolf Munkel path, which was built as early as 1905. You walk at the foot of the Sas Rigais until you finally reach the Geisler Alm (1996m) via the 34 path. After a comfortable break, the descent by a toboggan (for a fee) or by foot (by arrangement) follows via the 34 path to Ranui (1350m). Here the cab is already waiting to take us back to Lajen. The world's cross-country skiing elite will once again be guests in Dobbiaco - together we will celebrate the turn of the year. From 2th December to 1st January 2026, the best cross-country skiers in the world will be competing for prestigious World Cup points in the Nordic Arena in Dobbiaco.

At the Schenna/Scena ice rink, the AS Merano ice dance team put on an impressive show. Immerse yourself in a wonderland of elegance, choreographed skating, and dazzling performances on ice. The talented AS Merano figure skaters are sure to take your breath away – promising an unforgettable experience. The Schenna ice skating rink is open to the public until 4 pm enabling you to make a few turns of your own (rental skates available).

The International New Year’s Eve Run BOclassic starts and ends directly at the Bolzano Christmas Market on the Walther Square. The event is an institution - since 1974 the year has been brought to a sporty end in Bolzano. Runners from all over the world meet in the provincial capital on December 31 to compete in the Raiffeisen BOclassic South Tyrol, which starts and ends at the central Walther Square. It is the last day of the year, when in the afternoon the athletes first run through the Bolzano Christmas Market, cross the old town with Piazza delle Erbe and Via dei Portici, reach the Piazza della Stazione and then - after exactly 1,250 metres - can be seen again at Piazza Walther. This is repeated eight times for the male top athletes of the BOclassic Elite, and four times for the female participants. The other four categories do fewer laps: the Just for Fun event for everyone, the 5 km long Ladurner Run, the Raiffeisen Youth Cup and the Handbike Show Run. Years ago, a starting fee had to be paid, today, the elite runners arrive exclusively on invitation. The BOclassic is the annual start of the South Tyrol Top 7 running series, which also includes the Caldaro Lake Run and the Lake Resia Run.

Visitors to the Dolomiti Balloonweek can enjoy a hot air balloon flight lasting around half a day (including assembling the balloon, hot air balloon flight, dismantling the balloon, “baptism”). The actual flight takes around an hour depending on wind and weather. A hot air balloon basket has room for two to five persons, including the pilot. The magic of the Granfondo Dobbiaco-Cortina, which will take place for the 49th time on the weekend of 17th and 18th January 2026, is unbroken. The Granfondo Dobbiaco-Cortina is one of the most traditional and popular cross-country skiing races, with its enchanting routes capable of immersing lovers of narrow skis in the marvellous setting of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites of Alta Pusteria and the Ampezzo peaks. The dates for the 2026 edition have been confirmed for the aforementioned weekend, with the event returning to the popular format. For both routes, the start will be at the military airfield in Dobbiaco, from where you will head towards the finish line in Fiames - Cortina d'Ampezzo at the foot of the Pomagagnonich mountain.

The Dumpling Pleasure Marathon – the event where sporting fun, breathtaking nature, and culinary delights come together! Exactly 70 years after Cortina and 20 years after Turin, the world's largest winter sports event returns to Italy! The 25th Olympic Winter Games will take place from February 6 to 22, 2026. The whole world – and we, too – have our eyes on Anterselva, our neighboring village. Be there live and witness the world's best biathletes compete for Olympic gold! With Anterselva hosting the Biathlon competitions, for the first time in history, an Olympic decision will be made on South Tyrolean soil – a historic moment.

The Gsiesertal Lauf is one of the best-known and best-loved ski marathons in the entire Alpine region. It is the second largest ski marathon in Italy, and is held on the 3rd weekend in February in the Val Casies Valley, South Tyrol (Italy). Ever since it was first held back in 1984, this race has never once been cancelled due to weather conditions. In 2021, the event was cancelled for reasons of force majeure (Corona). The event attracts a great deal of international skiers, with a good forty nations at the starting line every year and a great many World and Olympic Champions listed on the roll of honour. In 2026, it will take place at the same time as the ‘Milan-Cortina Olympics’. This is a unique opportunity for all participants to experience some Olympic competitions either in the neighbouring Antholz Valley or in Cortina (distance 35 km) in addition to their own sporting activities. The race runs along two routes, one of 30 km and one of 42 km; the classic race is held on Saturday and the skating race on Sunday. The amateur “Just for Fun” group. with none of the stress of rankings and timekeeping, is also extremely popular, and the programme of events also includes the “Gsiesertal KIDS Run” on Saturday.
