The new, blue Hofratseck Trail circles playfully from the Bergkastelbahn mountain station over almost 2 kilometres through the pine trees to the Hofratseck, where it joins the red (and considerably rougher) Bergkastel Trail. However, you can also descend via a wide forest path to the valley station of the Bergkastelbahn or pedal gently uphill for 10 minutes to the Stieralm.

    Montesole Trail/Sunny Benny
    Latsch/Laces, Vinschgau/Val Venosta

"One of the most beautiful trails in the Alps" – this is how Bike Magazine described the Montesole /Sunny Benny Trail in Val Venosta.

This trail is passable nearly all year round and takes you through the austere cultural landscape of Val Venosta’s Sun Mountain. You will not only enjoy the flowing passages, but also the fantastic panoramic views of Monte Tramontana and of the surrounding mountain peaks and glaciers. Start at the mountain station in San Martino in Monte and follow the asphalt road downhill. Turn right after 1.2 km and take hiking path no. 9 for the first broader warm-up trail passage. The main part of the trail with flowing forest floors and more difficult stone passages (partially S2) starts after a short asphalt road crossing at Birchaböden. Look forward to pure trail fun after a short crosswise drive on the Ratschillweg road to the newly built trail section with fantastic steep turns. The successive flatter, flowing “Share the Trail” section starts after a few meters in altitude and takes you along Piani di Annenerg. Continue until the suspension bridge, pass by the cairns and take the partially steep path no. 5 to Tiss. Variant: You can also take path no. 5A to Tiss, just before the suspension bridge. Return on the asphalt road towards Laces or Coldrano. Please note: “Share the Trail” sections for some parts, especially on paths no. 5 and 7. Please show consideration for hikers as they have right of way!

    Alta Rezia Tour
Prad am Stilfser Joch/Prato allo Stelvio, Vinschgau/Val Venosta

Very challenging top class high-mountain tour with shuttle to the Stelvio Pass.

Alta Rezia refers to the area between Stelvio Pass, Umbrail Pass, Bormio and the Münstetalr Valley. For those who wish to discover the incredible high-Aalpine landscape by mountain bike, this is the ideal tour. The starting point is on the Stelvio Pass or Umbrail Pass (2,490m). From there, the route leads across a trail with few passages where you have to push your bike, to the Bocchetta di Forcola (2,768 m) and further to the Bocchetta di Pedenolo (Sentiero della Pace [Freedom Trail]), to walk across a breathtaking old military road, down to Lago Cancano lake (1,880 m) and Lago San Giacomo lake (requires head for heights). Everywhere evidence can be found of the savage trench warfare at the Ortler front. The descent should only be attempted by bikers who do not have a fear of heights. Alternatively, the descent can be made via the Valle Forcola Valley. Shortly behind Lago San Giacomo lake, we turn off to the Val Mora Valley (1,930m). We cross the beautiful Val Mora up to the Passo Döss Radond Pass (2,235m). From the pass, in the direction of Santa Maria in Val Müstair Valley via the gravel road with short options to take a shortcut, and from there further via the cycle path to Malles/Mals.

Recommendation: Clothing suitable for high-Alpine conditions and a local guide.

Hasl-Wieben Mountain Bike Tour and the Holy Hansen Trail
    Schlanders/Silandro, Vinschgau/Val Venosta

The Holy Hansen trail was applied by bikers for bikers. The farm tavern Haslhof (1,550 m), after so many curves to satisfy the hunger of trail, awaits the deserved break with wonderful views.

From Haslhof westwards pass two fences and get off right after the flowy S1 trail section in sector 1 and 2. In sector 3 and 4 wait a few S2 and S3 somewhat more difficult to thereafter return to the easier element of fun for everyone. The Holy Hansen crosses repeatedly forest and asphalt paths.

At Wiebenhof follow on asphalt two bends downhill to then turn right into the trail section. Flow pure, spiced with abutting sections, small kickers and faster passages provides this trail section to the crossing of the asphalt road. Take the road uphill for a short stretch and then turn left to continue to enjoy the rest of the trail up to Göflan.

Morterer Alm Tour (Malga di Morter)
    Martell/Martello, Vinschgau/Val Venosta

After this exhausting tour to the Malga di Morter mountain hut you really deserve a good hearty snack. The demanding gradient on asphalt road and then on a partially loose, steeper gravel path demands quite a bit from bikers. If you are an experienced e-mountain biker, you will do easier. Start at the Trattla sports and leisure center and turn right just before Burgaunerhof (1100 m) towards the beautiful Morter mountain hut (1900 m). From the end of the asphalt road, you always go uphill along the rushing Brandnerbach stream through the narrow, incised valley below the peaks Hasenöhrl (3257 m) and Zwölferkreuz (2512 m). You will be surprised at your arrival: You wouldn’t have expected this small, green and peaceful high plateau with the mountain hut situated on the hill and its many homemade specialties. Enjoy a hearty snack and have a nap in the lush grass to prepare yourself for the demanding descent on partially loose gravel that requires concentration. Having arrived at the valley floor, you can look forward to the delicacies of the strawberry valley such as strawberry cake, strawberry jam and a good coffee.

Tip: If you still have enough energy for a hike, you can climb up on path no. 14 to Cima Zwölferkreuz.

Gravel trail section. Cross the San Martino road to a beautiful S3 trail characterized by forest floor and stone passages. Turn right towards Ratschillhof at the gravel road and refresh yourself after some 500m.
By the way: This trail owes its name to this farm and not to its spicy characteristics! The second part of the trail ranges from root passages to hilly S3 sections and thus offers something for all trail enthusiasts. Look forward to the subsequent flatter flowing “Share the Trail” passage along Piani di Annenberg. Continue and before the suspension bridge on the left on path no. 5A downhill to Tiss.
Return on the asphalt road towards Laces or Coldrano.

    Trafoi ski area
    Vinschgau/Val Venosta
Trafoi is located at the foot of the 'King Ortler', the highest mountain in South Tyrol. Starting directly from the tranquil village centre of Trafoi, the lift transports guests up to the slopes on which skiing legend Gustav Thöni once perfected his technique. At the kindergarten of the 'Gustav Thöni' ski school on the 'Kirchhang' slope, children can practice for a skiing career, while adults make tracks on the sportier slopes of the small but fine Trafoi ski area. The best view of the Ortler range is from the Furkelhütte mountain hut at 2,250 m above sea level. This area is actually an important historical site: from here daredevil and chamois hunter 'Pseyrer Josele' was the first to successfully ascend the Ortler in 1804. Snowshoe hikers will find plenty of peace, quiet and untouched nature in the middle of the Stilfserjoch National Park, while adventurers can glide through fresh powder snow in the Ortles region all the way to spring.

    Watles ski area
    Vinschgau Val Venosta
Watles in the Obervinschgau valley is one of the sunniest ski areas in the province’s west and features wide, mostly moderately difficult slopes especially suitable for families. Little ones can play in the 'Bubo' ski kindergarten while freeriders carve new tracks on the new Skicross slope. Then there’s the legendary valley ski run, which leads through the spruce forest, and the picturesque, floodlit natural toboggan track. Both are considered can’t-miss highlights! Due to the ski area’s location in the middle of the Sesvenna mountain chain, snowshoe hikers and ski tourers can undertake challenging high-Alpine tours into the mountains. Alternatively, a separate ski touring slope leads from the valley station up to the Watlesspitze at 2,550 m above sea level. In the Nordic Ski Sports Centre Schlinig, international professionals and cross-country skiing fans meet for classic cross-country skiing or skating up to the Schliniger Alm Alpine pasture.

The Sulden glacier ski area is situated between 1,900 to 3,250 m above sea level and is considered to be South Tyrol's most snow-secure ski area - here you can ski for six whole months! Beginners can enjoy easy descents in an impressive location on the 'Kanzel' amidst 14 three-thousand-metre peaks and the Stilfserjoch National Park. There are more challenging slopes in the 'Schöntauf' area, especially on the 'Gran Zebru' slope, and those who love powder snow descents will find their bliss here. Or perhaps you’re keen to embark on a ski tour to one of the many peaks? Skiers will need good stamina for the 'König Ortler Circuit', which extends over all three mountains of the ski area, as well as for the eleven-kilometre-long valley ski run. At the 'Yeti Club', children will receive first-class supervision. Guests can also meet real yaks from mountaineering legend Reinhold Messner next to the 'Messner Mountain Museum Ortles'.

    Plankamodui Tour
Prad am Stilfser Joch/Prato allo Stelvio, Vinschgau/Val Venosta

Pleasant route across Montechiaro/Lichtenberg and the Platzhof farm into the 12er Trail.

From Prato/Prad, the gateway to the Stelvio National Park and to Solda/Sulden, you proceed across the Suldenbach streem to Agumes/Agums and from there via a beautiful meadow path with view to the fields, castles and summits of the Upper Venosta Valley in northerly direction to Montechiaro/Lichtenberg. Here starts the ascent on asphalt up to the Lichtenberg Fortress and then on gravel further up to Adelheid Schöpf Lechner from the Platzhof farm (1,354 m). After a nice snack (Brotzeit) with a view towards the direction of Sluderno/Schluderns and on the 3,202 m high Allitzer Spitz peak, you reach the highest point after a few metres further uphill. A flowy descent on narrow and wide trails (S1 and S2), with a few technical tight turns – no risk of boredom. From the Agumsbergerhöfe farms we carry on rolling, soon on tarmac back into the direction of the starting point to the interesting aquaprad National Park visitor center and look forward to a leisurely drink containing electrolytes.

Tip: The unusual name of the tour relates to a field name at the Agumser Berg mountain at the former climb from the Platzhof farm to Gawierg.

    Schöneben - Haideralm ski area
    Vinschgau Val Venosta
The Schöneben - Haideralm ski area is the largest ski area in the province’s west and invites to experience winter’s many facets. The slopes of the Haideralm ski area can be accessed directly from the village of San Valentino/St. Valentin leading up to 2,200 m above sea level. Ways to get moving are equally as diverse: switch to a paraglider or take advantage of the reliable conditions at the Haidersee and Reschensee lakes where the famous ‘Vinschgau wind’ reliably powers ice sailors and kiters. On the wide slopes of the Schöneben ski area, featuring views of the Reschensee lake, families and leisure-minded skiers can carve their tracks. At the same time, freestylers practice at the ‘Butter Boxes’ and Funslopes of the award-winning snow park. The mythical atmosphere at the Reschensee lake with its sunken church tower also attracts many hikers in winter. Cross-country skiers can take advantage of an attractive network of trails around the ski area. The 'Dreiländerloipe (three-country cross-country skiing trail)' is particularly popular. You can also explore the three-country region of South Tyrol, Tyrol and Engadine on a snowshoe hike.
