The ice ring on Lake Haider offers a unique natural ice skating experience on a natural lake with a circumference of around 500m. Located in the heart of the picturesque Upper Venosta Valley, visitors can enjoy the freedom of open-air skating. The ice rink is accessible without opening hours and without lighting, creating an idyllic setting. Entrance is free, but access to the ice is at one's own risk.

The old church is a simple building made by wild rocks between the tower and the sacristy. Its today`s shape dates back to the XIVth century and under the plaster of roof and walls were found frescos dated back the same period.

The core of the old parish church in Marein was presumably built around 1400. At least the stellar vault of the choir and the tracery windows on its southern side are from this period. By contrast the tower and nave were not given their present form until the 17th cent. In addition to a Baroque altar from the 18th cent. The Fort Nauders was built as a roadblock to protect the lnntal from troop invasions from Lombardy and the Engadin. The five-storey fortress was built from 1834 to 1840. The wedge-shaped porch was equipped with cannons. The crew casemate reaches 20 meters deep into the rocks. The fortress was never attacked and has remained unchanged. Currently the fortress is being restored.

At the harbor of Tignale - that is on the east coast of Lake Garda - is our main spot in summer.

In winter you will find us mainly at Lake Reschen - a paradise for aspiring and active snowkiters. The spot is basically the whole area of the frozen, snow-covered Reschensee.

Very briefly about the Reschensee:

Lake Reschen, is a reservoir in the municipality of Graun in western South Tyrol. The artificial reservoir is six kilometers long and about one kilometer wide at the widest points and has a water capacity of 120 million m³. The reservoir at the Reschen Pass, with a church tower rising from its center, is the Mecca for kiters from many regions with optimal wind conditions almost every day. This makes snowkiters from neighboring countries also take the trip to Reschen.

The source of the Adige is at 1550m, about 10 minutes from the village Resia. It is the principal river of South Tyrol and with its 415 kilometers of Italy's second largest river.

In 1492 a chapel was dedicated in the Kasten of Galsaunj manor; it can be identified from the outside by its delicate bell tower. It contains a Renaissance altar of 1594 and a Baroque altar from the period around 1730.

Das „Sebasn- Wallnöfer - Haus“ - Bp. 86 – Silberstraße  33 + 35   

 

Dieses altersgraue Wohnhaus ist integriertes Bindeglied inmitten einer vierfachen Gebäudereihe im Zentrum des Prader Altdorfes. Die eng aneinander gereihten Häuser und bäuerlichen Wirtschaftsgebäude spiegeln hier die rätoromanische Siedlungsstruktur am Ausgang des Mittelalters wider. Im speziellen Fall handelt es sich um einen zweigeteilten Baubestand aus der Zeit des 15. Jahrhunderts. An der westlichen Fassadenhälfte findet sich über dem Eingangsbereich zwischen zwei Fenstern ein von der Jahreszahl 1606 flankiertes  Sgraffito eines Andreaskreuzes. Jenes Symbols, welches den Lehensherrn und damit auch die Hausbesitzer als Getreue des Tiroler Landesfürsten auszeichnete. Während die linke Fassadenhälfte dekorative Fenster- und Eckbemalungen aufweist, fehlen solche hingegen in der rechtsseitigen, mit Ausnahme des genannten Sgraffitos gänzlich. Dies soll sich nach Auskunft des ehemaligen Bewohners Leo Reisigl (Jhg.1928) damit erklären, dass es auf rechter Seite ein rundbogiges Eingangstor zur dahinterliegenden Scheune gab und damit zum landwirtschaftlichen Bereich zählte. Demzufolge dürfte es sich auch bei diesem Baukörper im Prader Oberdorf um ein ehemaliges „Bündnerhaus“ handeln, dessen Wohnbereich man durch die im Rundbogentor eingebaute Tür erreichen konnte. Zudem soll man das linksseitige Obergeschoss über eine Außenstiege erreicht haben, deren Verlauf sich noch heute ausmachen lässt.

Als im Jahre 1775 der Besitz zur Besteuerung wiederholt aktenkundig wurde, waren Fliri Tafaser und Simon Wallnöfer Inhaber dieses gräflichen Grundbesitzes der Herren Khuen von Belasi zu Lichtenberg. Das Innenleben dieser „Grund-Lehens-Behausung“, wie sie in den Steuerfassionen von damals als konkrete Quelle genannt wird, bestand in einem tonnengewölbten Hausgang, zwei getäfelten Stuben, zwei Küchen, fünf Kammern und drei Keller. Zudem zählte ein 104 Klafter (374 m²) großer Krautgarten ebenso zur Besitzeinheit wie ein bäuerliches Wirtschaftsgebäude an Stadel und Stallung. Dieser einst an der Haus-Südseite angebaute Trakt fiel dem vom Nachbargebäude (heute Sprengelstützpunkt) ausgehenden Großbrand vom 20.- 21. September 1888 zum Opfer und wurde in der Folge an anderer Stelle (Bp.229) neu gebaut. In diese Zeit fällt sicherlich auch die Umstrukturierung des Eingangsbereiches mit einhergehender Neuausrichtung der zwei Besitzanteile. Wovon es damals die Familien des Josef und Franz Wallnöfer sowie jene des Eusebius Reisigl betraf, deren Nachkommen das Gebäude noch heute besitzen. Seit 1. Juni 1981 unterliegt das seit 2010 unbewohnt gebliebene Gebäude unter Denkmalschutz und harrt auf Restaurierung.

Als Hauptplatz versteht sich immer noch jenes unbebaute Areal in Prad, welches sich bis zur Dorferweiterung ab den 1950er- Jahren als Zentrum ausweisen konnte. Der Prader Hauptplatz, bis zur Straßennamengebung um1954 und von der älteren Bevölkerungsschicht auch heute noch als „Oberer Platz“ bezeichnet, erhielt von den faschistischen Machthabern den amtlichen Namen Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III. Die ebene Freifläche die als Platz bezeichnet wird, entstand in ihrer heutigen Form vor allem im frühen 19. Jahrhundert. Wobei aber der Vorläufer des ortsbildprägenden Gebäudes der Familien Rungg bereits im 17. Jahrhundert den Grundstein dazu gelegt haben dürfte. Zumal alle übrigen, den Dorfplatz säumenden Bauparzellen erst später dazu gekommen sind. Ein essentieller Grund zur eigentlichen Entstehung dieses Freiraums war vorab aber durch den Platz querenden Mühlbach vorgegeben, er hatte, mit Ausnahme der Brücke, frei zu bleiben. Als dann noch ab 1825 die neue Poststraße (Stilfser-Joch-Straße) durchs Dorf führte, war der Hauptplatz zur zentralen Station geworden. In der Folgezeit wurden Straße und Platz mit einem Kopfsteinpflaster versehen und später kam eine Großwaage mit Waaghäuschen dazu. Daneben unterhielt bereits in den 1950er-Jahren ein Italiener, namens Doregatti, ein Gemüseständchen. Links unterhalb der „Platzbrücke“ gab es auch einen Granit steinernen Brunnen mit großem Bett zur Viehtränke, ihn hatte der Prader Maurermeister Anton Stecher im Jahre 1884 erbaut. Bis zur Mühlbachverbauung im Jahre 1958/59 maß die verfügbare Fläche des Platzes 302 m², während es nachher bzw. heute an die 500 m² sind. Nach Abbruch der so genannten „Brunnerhitt“ (Bp.66) im Jahre 1973 und des gen. Brunnens entstand in der Folge  eine südseitige Platz-Erweiterung, die des Öfteren, fälschlicher Weise, als Unterer Platz bezeichnet wird.  Zurück zum eigentlichen Hauptplatz selbst, so wurde dieser zum Treff und Angelpunkt diverser Dorfangelegenheiten schlechthin. Er war Haltestelle der Postkutsche, Repräsentationspunkt verschiedenster Auf- und Durchmärsche, ist Ort öffentlicher Feiern und Veranstaltungen und nicht zuletzt seit Jahr und Tag Schauplatz des traditionellen Prader „Zusslumzuges“ am unsinnigen Donnerstag. Wenngleich sich das Dorfleben seit den letzten fünfzig Jahren zunehmend westwärts abspielt, so ist unser Hauptplatz nach wie vor wichtigster Bezugspunkt geblieben.
