Knödel, round dumplings, both savoury and sweet, are among South Tyrol's most popular culinary specialities and take centre stage in this festival taking place at Vipiteno/Sterzing in September. Savoury varieties are usually made from white bread kneaded with other ingredients and include Speck-Knödel, cheese gnocchi, spinach dumplings, while dumplings with apricots in the centre (Marillen-Knödel), strawberry and plum 'Knödel' are among the seductive dessert specialities. Of course the feasting will accompanied by entertainment including traditional Tyrolean music by local bands. Knödel spiecialities can be tasted in selected restaurants the week before and after the festival.

On September 10, 2023, the traditional Barbian Plum Festival will take place in Saubach from 10:00 a.m.. • 10:00 a.m. holy mass in the church in Saubach • 12:00 pm snowing of the plum strudel • Good entertainment with music is well provided. The Barbian farmers' wives and young farmers take care of your physical well-being with traditional plum dishes. We look forward to your coming!

Traditional music with delicious specialties and a fantastic panorama. The festivity in the alpine huts Prato Piazza, Rossalm, Stollaalm, Kaseralm e Grünwaldalm combines typical Tyrolean sounds with delicious food. In the huts, various music groups sing and play many well-known ways, which additionally accentuate the magical panorama. In addition, traditional delicacies will be served. It's worth a visit!

Umes: Patronal day with holy mass at 11.30 a.m. Afterwards there will be a musical entertainment. There will also be an entertainment for the children who can play “Flaschen ziehen”. Like every year there will be the “lucky dip” at the firefighter station Umes.

The festival Sauders begins at 10:00 with the Holy Mass in the church of Sauders. From 11:00 then starts the festivities at the Winklerhof with performance of the folk dance group Oberrasen and the young Schuhplattler from Villanders. Music and entertainment will be provided by the Natterer Inntaler and the Südtiroler Tanzlmusig, where all dancing fans will meet on the large dance floor. Delicious Törggele dishes will be on the table, a raffle will be organized and for children there will be a playground and trampoline on site.

Every year in September, the traditional Gsieser Almhüttenfest (Val Casies Mountain Pasture Festival) takes place in the Val Casies Valley, a highlight that attracts many hiking enthusiasts every year. The festival takes place alternately in the villages of Colle, S. Martino or S. Maddalena to give the many visitors the opportunity to get to know the numerous alpine pastures and the mountain world of the Val Casies Valley. This year the associations of Colle organise the traditional 37° Val Casies Mountain Pasture Festival on the Gallfallalm. Starting point: S. Martino/village centre. The festival begins at 10.30 am. with a Holy Mass. In the characteristic alpine huts, various local dishes are served. Rustic folk music & children programme. A unique and unforgettable celebration to end the summer.

The peacefulness and colours of autumn are the frame to "Saus dl Altonn", the flavours of autumn, an event created to exalt this wonderful period of the year with good food, the genuine produce of the land and activities dedicated to nature and to the Dolomites. From September 17th to October 1st 2023, a few mountain huts of Alta Badia, that can be reached on foot, by bicycle or by cableway, will be matched with a producer and the corresponding locally product of excellence. Each mountain hut will present a menu specially created for the occasion, highlighting the product assigned. Over the two weeks of the event, the producers will be present at the huts to illustrate the special features of their products, which may also be directly purchased. The programme also envisages many other activities aimed at revealing the many excellences of Alta Badia, enjoying an absolutely unforgettable experience in the Dolomites. When autumn begins in the southern Valle Isarco/Eisacktal, it starts also the so-called Törggele-season. Chiusa/Klausen celebrates the beginning of this ancient tradition with a big festival. From 20th September to 22nd September, the artist's city Chiusa dedicates itself entirely to the traditions of the "Törggelen" and transforms itself into some kind of outdoor tavern. Through the streets of the town, gastronomic stands offer various South Tyrolean specialties, such as Knödel, Schlutzkrapfen, sausages with sauerkraut (fermented cabbage), doughnuts, Strauben and roasted chestnuts. A rich selection of white wines from the Valle Isarco completes the culinary offer. The festival has also a colourful entertainment program and a lot of popular music. Traditional autumn market with regional products of the harvest season. Food, drink and music are well provided for! In addition to local regional products, high-quality handicraft products as well as typical market items are offered. This market has been held in Prad every year on 21 September since the 19th century.

But this is not just a cooking show: it's an opportunity to connect with the earth, nature, and the roots of our food traditions. Musical entertainment with the group Arton Duo will be the perfect soundtrack to accompany your experiences related to our products. You do not have to register. The dish prepared during the show cooking can be purchased directly at the Club Moritzino hut at a price of €10.00. At 10.30 a.m. the feast starts with the celebration of the word and the blessing of the cattle at the cross Schnaggen. Afterwards the festivities begin with musical entertainment by the "Oachner Böhmische" and "Haniger Buabm". Food and drink are well provided. Enjoy fresh farmer's Krapfen directly there. There will also be entertainment for children and the Oachner Goaßlschnöller.

The South Tyrolean Marende is traditionally eaten in the afternoon (between lunch and dinner) and consists of South Tyrolean speck, Schüttelbrot bread and a glass of wine. It is also often accompanied by a Kaminwurz and cheese. Today, the Marende is still a tradition among farmers and can also be found on the menus of mountain huts and restaurants. Get to know the traditional Marende and experience the essence of South Tyrol on your plate! The event is held in German and Italian.

A festival where local herb producers invite the public to learn about and taste their produce. The vending stalls showcase the stunning diversity of South Tyrolean herbs and provide interesting information. The day’s program also includes expert talks about herbs.
