    Via Claudia Augusta, Merano-Salorno
    Terlan/Terlano, Alto Adige Wine Road

The route leads from Marlengo/Marling via Lana and Nalles/Nals to Andriano/Andrian. Change to the Etschtal Cycle Path, which leads to Bolzano/Bozen. One of the most ‘castle rich’ regions in all of Europe begins south of Merano/Meran. Worth mentioning are Hocheppan Castle in Missiano/Missian, Appiano/Eppan, Maultasch Castle (Burg Maultasch) near Terlano/Terlan and Sigmundskron Castle (Schloss Sigmundskron) near Firmiano/Firmian, Bolzano.

The route leads along the western edge of South Tyrol's capital city Bolzano (the best way to enter is to follow the Eisack river). The villages south of Bolzano have been historically strongly shaped by the navigable Etsch river. Of particular historical importance are the medieval village of Egna/Neumarkt with South Tyrol’s only proven Roman staging post, Endidae, and Salorno/Salurn, located on the language border at the Salurner Klause, the name of this narrow valley section.

The South Tyrolean portion of the Via Claudia Augusta, leading to Ostiglia near Verona or Quarto d’Altino near Venice, ends at Salorno.

    Bike Trail Via Claudia Augusta
Graun im Vinschgau/Curon Venosta, Bolzano/Bozen and environs
After 2000 years of history, Via Claudia Augusta, the ancient Roman road that led from the Po River lowlands and the Adriatic Sea all the way to Bavaria and the Danube, is enjoying a renaissance. With the end of conflict and a united Europe, the Via Claudia Augusta has become a bridge joining and blending cultures, places and emotions. It is a symbolic route that spans three nations, each with its own diverse landscape and traditions, artistic treasures and culinary specialities, marked by a more approachable, youthful and ecologically sustainable tourism.

The South Tyrolean part of the trail goes through Passo Resia, Val Venosta, Merano, Bolzano and Val d'Adige until Salorno.

Up and down below Piz Salve, Munwartl and Glurnser Köpfl mountains.

From Trafoi, a lift takes you up to the Furkelhütte hut (2,153 m), where you can have a coffee before starting the tour. Then up and down on gravel paths, meadow paths towards the Stilfser Alm  Alpine pasture (2,077 m). Here, another opportunity presents itself to enjoy the panoramic view. Now downhill around 500 metres of height, below the Stilfser Alm to the 6er trail (S1) and forest as well as gravel path downhill to the Faslarhöfe farms (1,550 m), to then carry on uphill again, towards Schartalm Alpine pasture (1,825 m). At the junction Schartalm, take the gravel path towards the Lichtenberger Almen Alpine pastures (2,066 m) to the beautiful Gutfalltal Valley. From the pastures, a lovely trail, with occasional roots and a brilliant panoramic view leads to the Glurnser Alm Alpine pasture (1,978 m). This part is challenging and occasionally requires some skill and fitness. At the pasture, it is worth taking a break and a snack you brought along (Marend).
From the Glurnser Alm Alpine pasture, follow the forest trail downhill up to the town walls of the beautiful little town of Glorenza/Glurns, with its cobbled old town and nice cafés. From Glorenza, briefly follow the road from the south gate of the town wall, then turn right into the meadow path to Prato.

    Sellaronda MTB tour - clockwise
    Corvara, Dolomites Region Alta Badia

Spectacular Dolomite peaks and legendary mountain passes: The Sellaronda is one of the most beautiful and popular circular routes in the Alps and offers all kinds of exciting options in winter or in summer. One of these is the Sellaronda mountain biking tour. The tour requires a good level of physical fitness and mountain biking experience, because there are some tricky climbs and a few difficult descents to manage. However, for the last few years there has been the option of avoiding some of the particularly steep climbs by using lifts, making it possible to complete the tour in a day.

Thanks to several chairlifts and cablecars the height difference to ride up by bike is relatively small in the clockwise route of the Sellaronda MTB TOUR. There are several descents on bike trails, which require a medium level of bike practice. The time needed to complete the tour varies according the ability of the biker: generally from 5 to a maximum of 9 hours, lunch break included.

    Via Claudia Augusta, Andriano-Appiano-Caldaro-Salorno
    Andrian/Andriano, Alto Adige Wine Road

Those deciding on the rather more challenging and scenically rewarding Überetsch variation of the Via Claudia Augusta should remain on the orographic right side of the Etschtal in Andriano/Andrian, following the old wine road to Riva di Sotto/Unterrain.

This variation ascends to San Paolo/St. Pauls in Überetsch up to the two largest wine producing municipalities in South Tyrol, Appiano/Eppan and Caldaro/Kaltern. Just after Appiano, head down to the Kalterer See lake, the warmest bathing lake in the Alps, and on to the village of Termeno/Tramin, famed for its Gewürztraminer wine. With their vineyards and wineries, the picturesque wine villages further to the south, Cortaccia/Kurtatsch, Magrè/Margreid and Cortina all'Adige/Kurtinig, are also well worth a visit. At Egna/Neumarkt, the two variations meet up once more at the Via Claudia Augusta on the Etschtal Cycle Path leading to Salorno/Salurn and then on to Italian-speaking Trentino.

    Latsch/Laces, Vinschgau/Val Venosta

Challenging climbs, rewarding views, a "gschmackige Marend" and several trail options.

The tour starts at the  village square of Tarres (Schulweg). Follow the signs on the asphalt road to the valley station of the chairlift Tarres Alp (1,200 m). From Laces: from the Laces sports stadium (SportForum) in a southerly direction to the AquaForum adventure pool and either via the forest road and Raminiwaal or the road on to Tarres.

Shortcut: The Malga di Tarres lift transports bikes. From Laces we are then almost exclusively on asphalt.
