The Church of St. Verena in Rotwand/Lengstein can be visited freely on the first Saturday of each month between April 1 and November 15, 2025, from 10-12 a.m., Admission free, voluntary donations for the church are welcome. This place of worship, located at the top of a hill, is the only one in Tyrol dedicated to Saint Verena. It was first mentioned in official documents in the 13th century. The church overlooks the northern side of the Eisack Valley, offering an extraordinary view of the Sciliar massif. Visible from afar, it stands on an ancient place of worship and the remains of prehistoric hilltop forts, which were later transformed into a Christian sanctuary

market with farmers products Every Saturday, from 8 o'clock, the farmers' market takes place in Sarentino at the church place. Fresh products such as salads, vegetables, eggs, cakes, doughnuts and juices are on offer.

On Saturday mornings from 7:30 a.m. until noon, there is the opportunity to buy fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, as well as homemade honey, directly from farmers and producers. The small farmers' market is located on Via Pietralba in the center of Laives."

Guided walking tour along the Freud-Promenade with the Freud–expert Francesco Marchioro on the occasion of Sigmund Freud's birthday "I was born on May 6, 1856 in Freiberg, Moravia." And how did this link between the ideal place for Bolzano residents to go for a bit of 'Sommerfrische', or summer cool, and the genius tourist Sigmund Freud come about? In a letter dating February 1911, he reveals to Carl Gustav Jung «Next summer. I need a place where I can be alone with a forest nearby». So, before Easter, on Friday, the 14th of April, he leaves Vienna in the company of his friend and pupil Sandor Ferenczi and makes a quick tour lasting just six days to find a suitable place around Trento and Bolzano. He returns to Vienna the following Thursday and his research produces excellent results in the form of Ritten/Renon near Bolzano. Consequently, on the 9th of July, Freud sets off from Karlsbad, where he was staying to recover from a bout of 'American colitis', and joins his family at Klobenstein. This is where the Freuds celebrate their silver wedding anniversary, on 14th September - the enjoyment of their holiday thus being enhanced by love and affection. FC Südtirol is the only professional football club between Innsbruck (Austria) and Trento (Italy). This makes it the most northern professional team in Italy. At the moment FC Südtirol participates in the "Serie B" championship, second Italian series for importance. As its name indicates, FC Südtirol is not a single city, but an ambassador for an entire province: South Tyrol! The FCS - as it is called by its supporters - is an integration model for the three language groups in South Tyrol. Where Max Valier, almost one hundred years ago, set up his telescopes to bring the starry sky closer to the people of Bolzano, we now continue that tradition: on May 5, 2025, Waltherplatz will become a window to the universe. Two telescopes will be available to the public for observing the Moon and other celestial objects, right in the heart of the city. Participation is free and no registration is required. The observation will take place only in case of clear skies. A unique opportunity to rediscover the magic of the night sky—following in the footsteps of Max Valier.

A traveling exhibition by the Hermann-Oberth Space Museum in Feucht retraces the life, ideas, and scientific insights of Max Valier. As part of the Max Valier Weeks 2025, two weeks of public events will focus on astronomy, rocketry, and space exploration. The rich program includes conferences, exhibitions, film screenings, astronomical observations, round tables, and meetings with scientists and astronauts, aiming to engage youth, families, enthusiasts, and the curious in the wonders of space. Organized by MUA – Movimento Universitario Altoatesino in collaboration with the South Tyrol Museum of Natural Sciences and major scientific partners.

The exhibition ‘Mercanti si diventa’ was created with the intention of investigating the figure of the merchant, the protagonist and soul of the city of Bozen from the earliest times, and his evolution from a ‘simple’ shopkeeper to a full-fledged fair merchant. On a local level, this qualitative leap took place between the 17th and 18th centuries, thanks to the spread of innovative trade manuals, the growing importance of Bolzano's fairs, and the role of the Mercantile Magistrate. The exhibition, which was realised thanks to loans from institutions, public archives and private collectors, aims to revive the intense commercial activity that characterised Bolzano's fairs in their heyday. The exhibition includes a reconstruction of the studio of an enterprising merchant. The maps, paintings and guild insignia on display emphasise how important transport activities were for international trade. On display are some valuable manuscripts from the Menz Archive, which give an insight into the complex structure that underpinned the organisation of a market, and some rare printed books, veritable encyclopaedias ‘of trade’. The exhibition ends with an inlaid panel by Alois Delug, an unfinished work from the early 20th century and exhibited for the first time at the Mercantile Museum. Short guided tour in German/Italian. Meeting point: at the church in Mittelberg. Duration: 20 minutes, Cost: € 2. The St. Nikolaus church in Mittelberg is first mentioned in 1289. This church was enlarged in the gothic style in 1400 and has kept its appearance from that time. The tower is somewhat later than the church and was probably built in the 14th Century. It is made of natural stones laid in regular patterns. Possibly in 1400 the upper levels were altered to the gothic style and the existing windows date from that period. In 1744 a rather large onion dome was added. It does not fit the building but is still quite pleasing. In 1976, during the restoration of the church and the tower, the Romanesque masonry was discovered. In this phase of restoration also came to light a large cycle of medieval frescoes that reproduce scenes of the passion of the Lord, the twelve apostles and prophets

The Claudia Augusta Library invites you to the conference “Searching for Roots. Discovering Our Ancestors”, led by Matteo Borelli, professor at the Primo Levi University of Bologna. This event offers an introduction to genealogy and family history, explaining key concepts and tools for conducting research. Questions addressed include: What is genealogy? How do we search in archives? What sources can be used? How do we build a family tree? What does the web offer? What is genetic genealogy? Special focus will be given to the Province of Bolzano. Participants will have plenty of time to ask questions and share their thoughts.
