Guided afternoon hike with Klaus Demar. Meeting point: Train stop Lichtenstern. Duration: 3-4 hours, pure walking time: 2 hours. Difficulty: middle. Price: € 15, free with RittenCard. Language: German & Italian. We meet us at 2.20 p.m. at the Lichtenstern/Station (2.06 p.m. train from Oberbozen/ Klobenstein). In Lichtenstern we learn about the 117-year-old Ritten Railway. From here we climb to the Waldneregg prehistoric cult site. We follow the path near the mythical "Menhir" to Lake Wolfsgruben. Along the Eschenbach stream, which drained the lake, the "Seemüller" had rights to use the irrigation water and the water power for their mills, sawmills and a forge. We look at the old buildings (from the outside) and descend to the beautifully situated Unterinn. On a tour of the village, we visit the parish church - the original parish of Ritten - which is well worth seeing, before taking the bus to Klobenstein, where our hike ends. Registration required!

Twenty years ago, a group of wild actors met at Carambolage with a crazy idea: to create the first improvisational theater company in South Tyrol and dive into this adventure without a safety net. Since then, we’ve invented stories, failed spectacularly, celebrated, laughed until we cried, and even cried for real – yes, because there have also been some tough moments. But all of this has helped us grow. And with us, the best audience in the world has grown – you! Because without you, there is no show! So, now it's time to celebrate: let’s count together all the smile lines we've accumulated in these 20 years and toast to them! On Sunday, June 15th, we invite you to the much-loved RAI Südtirol Frühschoppen (morning pint) at the Unterhornhaus – one of many special events marking 50 years of Rittner Horn Bergbahnen. Starting at 10 a.m., two lively traditional bands – "Die Spielerei" and the "Zweschpeler" from Wangen will fill the mountain air with music. Hosting the morning is none other than Norbert Rabanser, well-known from the show Dur & Schräg. Joining us are some of the pioneers and key figures behind the history of the Rittner Horn lifts – including the host and mountain hut innkeeper Gottfried Fuchsberger. Great music, tasty food, and a warm mountain atmosphere – all happening rain or shine! The event will be recorded by RAI Südtirol and broadcast on Sunday, June 22nd, 2025 at 11.05 a.m.

In the mood for nature? This summer we invite all science and nature enthusiasts between the ages of 7 and 11 to the Museum! For nature-loving children who are eager to spend their holiday among research, discoveries and experiments, while also visiting the Planetarium. Every day from 8 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., children will be accompanied on their adventures by two guides from the Natural Science Museum. And how did this link between the ideal place for Bolzano residents to go for a bit of 'Sommerfrische', or summer cool, and the genius tourist Sigmund Freud come about? In a letter dating February 1911, he reveals to Carl Gustav Jung «Next summer. I need a place where I can be alone with a forest nearby». So, before Easter, on Friday, the 14th of April, he leaves Vienna in the company of his friend and pupil Sandor Ferenczi and makes a quick tour lasting just six days to find a suitable place around Trento and Bolzano. He returns to Vienna the following Thursday and his research produces excellent results in the form of Ritten/Renon near Bolzano. Consequently, on the 9th of July, Freud sets off from Karlsbad, where he was staying to recover from a bout of 'American colitis', and joins his family at Klobenstein. This is where the Freuds celebrate their silver wedding anniversary, on 14th September - the enjoyment of their holiday thus being enhanced by love and affection. "The machinist turns the crank, the wagon spins and purrs, a little jerk, then it starts moving..." This is a quote from 1907 when the people from Bozen took the railway Renon (Rittner Bahn) to their summer retreat on the high plateau. Even today, after 113 years, our railway still runs between Maria Himmelfahrt, Oberbozen and Klobenstein as the only narrow-gauge railway in South Tyrol.

How is a “unique sound” created? And what sounds – today – are good? Jazz musicians – unlike those in European art music – have their own sound, and expression is always more important than just beautiful tone. The Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige, under the artistic direction of Stefan Festini Cucco, Max von Pretz, and Roberto Tubaro, will explore not only the new and innovative sound worlds of contemporary European jazz this summer, but will also enable the creative development of these sounds through interesting acoustic locations across the region. In many unusual resonance spaces, individual sounds will be generated – and live-modified during the concerts. The musical explorations will begin on the opening night of the Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige on June 27. The Amsterdam-based Brainteaser Orchestra, which was awarded the German Jazz Prize in 2021 for its debut album, will perform in various locations within the NOI Techpark in Bolzano. Further sound experiments will follow: French flautist Delphine Joussein will hold a solo concert in a spacious hall at the Bolzano trade fair, and guitarist Reinier Baas will travel nearly a kilometer into the former Prettau mine in the Ahrntal by mine train, before unpacking his guitar in the Klimastollen to give another solo concert. The "sound of nature" will be integrated into contemporary jazz above ground. Finnish drummer Tatu Rönkko and the saxophonist Damian Dalla Torre, who grew up in Sterzing, will host a sound workshop in the old Pforzheimer Hütte and in the alpine border area between the Val Venosta and Switzerland. The festival will also offer two other sound excursions to the Juac Hut and the Mont de Sëura Alm in the Dolomites of Val Gardena. Over 50 concerts will take place from June 27 to July 6 in many different locations across South Tyrol. Concert venues include the Bunker H in Fagen Street in Bolzano, the Franzensfeste Fortress, the Roner Distillery in Termeno, the Ost West Club in Merano, the exhibition halls of the Antonio Dalle Nogare Foundation in Bolzano, the Poschhausstollen in Ridnaun, the Bozen Filmclub, the Harpf beverage store in Brunico, the Stanglerhof in Fie allo Sciliar, the Rittner Horn, the town square in Sterzing, as well as the Waaghaus and the park of Hotel Laurin in Bolzano.
