Whether from Kastelruth, Seis am Schlern or Völs am Schlern – the family-friendly Seiser Alm ski resort is very close, and for more demanding undertakings, Val Gardena/Gröden is also easy to reach via good routes. The renowned “Sella Ronda” can thus be entered from Seiser Alm very well. Welcome to the Alpine climbing school Schlern. The price of the course only includes the compensation of the guide. For all extra courses and escursions that foresee overnight stays in a mountain hut or other accomodation, the costs are at the customer's expense.

Insurance and responsibility
The climbing school, the guides and customers are covered by insurance in the case of infortune according to the article of the statute of the Southtyrolean alpine guides. For our clients we recommend to contract a private insurance in addition. The climbing school Schlern organizes courses and escursions, by only being a mediator, the school doesn't take any responsibily in case of an accident or other inconveniences.

The charging station is located in the Alpincenter store in Seis am Schlern (opening in summer 2025).

High above the entrance into the Val Gardena, to the north of Kastelruth and surrounded by meadows and forest, lies the hamlet of Tagusens. The little church dedicated to St Mary Magdalenen stands at the edge of the dispersed settlement on a distinctive rocky hill. Its position permits the conjecture that a cult site may have already been located here in pre-Christian times. The church building itself is from the Romanesque period and was presumably built in the 13th c., later modified in the Gothic style and finally adapted to the Baroque in 1667.

The St. Valentin church surrounded by meadows and fields, with the Schlern massif in the background, the small church of St. Valentin offers a real idyllic scene. The construction is of great historical and artistic value with precious frescos from the 14th and the 15th century. A peculiarity (among others): the painter has tried to include the local landscape as background in its representation of the three Kings.

In 1980 Walter Wallnöfer established his goldsmith business, Goldschmiede Wallnöfer. Both business locations, in Völs am Schlern and in Kastelruth are run as a family business involving Walter’s daughter Karin and his wife Marianne.

The swimming pool is an outdoor pool and is open during the summer months from 1. June to 31. August. It features a large swimming pool with two trampolines and a separate children's pool. Additionally, there is a spacious sunbathing lawn, changing rooms, a children's playground, and a restaurant. A large free parking area is also available for visitors.

We have been growing our own fruit and vegetables on our farm for four generations. A huge selection of fresh produce such as tomatoes, courgettes, plums and apples. To bring you even closer to the authenticity of the region, we process what we grow into a wide variety of products.

Chapel of St. Michael. The Chapel of St. Michael, also known as “cemetery chapel”, is situated next to the parish church of Völs and dates back to the Romanesque period. Today, the chapel houses an archaeological collection and the Völs Parish Museum .

GEETA is a small craft business specialising in the production of cuddly toys made from organic cotton. But that's not all: in addition to production, there is a lovingly designed shop full of gift ideas and a studio offering sewing and creative workshops for children and young people. Are you curious? E-bike charging station directly at the farmhouse Tschötscherhof.

Prösels Castle was built in 1200 by the masters of Völs, the noble servers of the bishop of Brixen. In the early 16th century, the head of the provincial government, Leonhard von Völs, turned the castle into a Renaissance residence. The castle as it looks today is almost entirely the work of Leonhard von Völs. In the year 1981, the company KURATORIUM SCHLOSS PRÖSELS Ltd. purchased the castle.

Discover the Rittersaal, the Pfeilersaal, Kaminzimmer ,the Castle chapel and many other rooms in the Renaissance castle on a guided tour. Special programmes are available for school groups and families.

In summer, Prösels Castle hosts numerous concerts in the castle courtyard or on the castle lawn and, in case of bad weather, in the Knights' Hall.

GUIDED TOURS SUMMER (01.05.-31.10.2025 | closed on Saturday):
German and Italian speaking visitors are taken by a guide, for all other visitors guided audio tours are offered in English and French. The castle can be visited only as part of the guided tours from May to October. For groups, guided tours are available on request all year round.

The coffee beans for Caroma coffees are carefully selected and processed by usin a gentle, artisanal long roasting in Völs am Schlern in South Tyrol.

The Silbernagl butcher's shop is a traditional shop in the centre of Kastelruth, which has been offering goods made from fresh, high-quality meat products for a long time. These include beef, lamb, veal, pork and sausages.

My name is Michaela Prister, I offer special and exceptionally unique hikes and nature experiences of a special kind. My specials are the "Shamanic Witch Hike" and the "Shepherd Hike", as well as an offer of various ceremonies.

As a hiking guide in mid-mountain, I strive not only, to lead my hiking guests into these majestic mountain worlds and offer them the most incomparable views, but also to convey the magic and enchantment inherent in this landscape. My desire is to open up the sight of my guests' hearts on excursions to a more complete and different vision of the apparent, because as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said in his book “The Little Prince”: ’One sees well only with the heart. The essential is invisible to the eyes'.

As an artist and Ard Rì, I have dedicated myself entirely to the female myth and spiritual heritage of my homeland and, in addition to my works, I also offer ancient Rhaetian ceremonies for special occasions. The Weltladen Schlern is located near the centre of Castelrotto and is run by volunteers from the surrounding area. It is the youngest among the 16 Fair Trade Shops in South Tyrol and opened its doors in November 2019. 

The concept of the shop is to support disadvantaged producers in the Global South through fair working conditions, wages and social projects instead of exploiting them in the current economic system. Imported food, cosmetics and handicrafts that can be bought in the shop are all Fair Trade certified. Selected South Tyrolean products offered in the shop promote small regional cycles and strengthen small-scale farmers.

On a small hill, in a sunny position, there is the settlement of Peterbühl. The hill, which tower is an important historical site. Here are the origins of Völs am Schlern and the entire region of the Schlern. People settled here many thousands of years before Christ. Today, the chapel of St. Peter am Bühl stands somewhat apart in the greenery. Above the door you can see the crossed keys of St. Peter, and next to them the coats of arms of the Thun and Firmian families: they are of Regina von Thun and Katharina von Firmian, the two wives of Leonhard the Elder of Völs. The altar from the 16th century is on display in the Völs Parish Museum. The decorative paintings are made in the year of 1600 in style of renaissance.

A beautiful place for a leisurely walk directly in Völs am Schlern. Several seating options provide a relaxed atmosphere and invite you to relax. A small children's playground can also be found along the circular path, as well as a statue. Sometimes there are some goats that come to the Peterbühl and provide a good company. In summer you can take a guided tour to see the Peterbühl church from the inside.

The museum houses old skiing apparel and ski equipment from different eras. It is located in Kastelruth and is open upon request at the Tourist Office. The museum provides an insight into the evolution of ski equipment, presenting objects from different times. Historical items are displayed, including skis, poles, shoes, ski gloves, helmets, etc.

At the Hotel Cyprianerhof, you can charge your e-bike for free during your stop. Power outlets are provided for this purpose.

From the blossom to the schnapps.

At Ansitz Velseck, you can charge your e-bike for free during your stop. Power outlets are available for this purpose. Additionally, the hotel offers a bike wash station and a repair service.

The grocery shop of Völs am Schlern is directly located at the main street by the roundabout.

The woodcarver is a traditional craftsman who can carve figures and other objects out of wood. In Castelrotto there are woodcarvers who master their craft. They use traditional wood cutting tools such as saw, plane, file and carving knife. With their handicraft techniques they create unique works of art, made of the best wood. Different traditions and techniques form the basis for a variety of interesting figures and objects. Often the objects are sold as souvenirs, decorations or as gifts.

With a height of 82 meters, the church steeple in Castelrotto is not only the highest in the vicinity, it's also – they say – the one with the most-beautiful-sounding bells. But the big tower bell has always been the greatest source of pride. They never fail to admiringly mention "Big Bell." The citizens of neighboring villages were so incensed by this that the young fellows in nearby Laion finally decided to teach the boastful natives of Castelrotto a lesson…
The chapel in the church tower is open daily from 08:00 - 18:00.

Farmer´s Museum in Tschötscher Hof St. Oswald is a district of Kastelruth located on a fertile high-altitude plateau which extends over the precipitous slopes high above the Val d'Isarco. Michl Jaider of the Tschötscherhof remembers the old days before the war well – back when everyone had to pull his own weight when plowing the cornfields, helping with the hay harvest, working in barns and stalls or in vineyards. When he took over the farm and the adjacent inn from his father, the modern era had already begun. Tractors replaced yoked oxen, automatic threshers replaced scythes, and the growing of grain was displaced by the more-profitable dairy industry. Of course, all of the old equipment was now only in the way, but the young Michl didn't want to throw it away. Too many vivid memories from his childhood were connected with it…
