The International Museum Day 2025 will take place in South Tyrol on Sunday, 18 May 2025. In our village museum in Tramin you can expect an exhibition of Roman burial finds as well as a video about the excavations from Tramin which were found in 2020 in the location ‘Im Bad’ in Tramin. The museum is open from 10 am - 6 pm. Free admission and a special programme. The event is organised worldwide by ICOM - International Council of Museums - to raise awareness of the social and cultural role of museums among the general public. As part of the International Museum Day event, several museums and exhibition venues in South Tyrol will be offering free admission and a special programme.

Fenn, Gaiderin, and Kematen – The History and stories behind Field Names around Klobenstein with Expert Johannes Ortner. Meeting point: 10 a.m. at Klobenstein train station/goat. Duration: 5 hours, bring a picnic in your backpack. Hiking price: €15, free with RittenCard. Language: German & Italian. On this hike around Klobenstein, we will discover old field names such as Fenn, Gaiderin, and Kematen, which reveal much about the rich linguistic history of Ritten. However, these names also hold clues about past agricultural activities, local vegetation, and even prehistoric times. Field names often reflect how people perceived and categorized their surroundings. Ethnologist and name researcher Johannes Ortner will provide further insights into these and other local peculiarities. Registration with the tourist office by 5 p.m. the day before.

From growing fodder to rearing calves, to livestock farming with dairy products and processing them into tasty yogurt, butter and cheese. Even the energy is generated directly on the farm. To conclude LanaLive 2025, AMA and Forno Vagabondo invite you to the Prati del Valsura, a space free from consumerism that has been bringing together people from diverse backgrounds and generations for decades. It is a place of meeting, exchange, and connection. In this setting, two community-building rituals intertwine: Forno Vagabondo, with its itinerant social oven, gathers people to bake bread together, share knowledge, and create new connections through dialogue on sustainability, biodiversity, and community. The preparation of bread will become a collective activity that promotes openness, participation, and creative exchange. This collective energy continues to ferment through music. With their sets, the Resident DJs of AMA create a space where dance and music are experienced as tools of connection, as expressions of meeting, participation, and shared celebration. Commons of Connection is an invitation to experience public spaces as living networks, places that grow through shared actions, cultural practices, and communal rituals.

In the pre-summer period, the Klausner Garden Show with around 30 exhibitors offers everything for gardens, balconies and terraces: seeds and young plants, flowers and herbs as well as many other plants and plant rarities, raised beds and wooden verandas, practical garden technology, garden furniture, stone fountains, stone figures and various works of art made of stone, steel and wood, barbecues and fireplaces as well as insect hotels, wickerwork, decorations and accessories. Including a large selection of organic products. On both days, we offer a great supporting programme for the whole family: visitors can look forward to specialist lectures on the subject of gardening and gardening, musical entertainment and a craft workshop. Our gourmet and tasting corner offers typical and homemade products from South Tyrol. Food and drink will also be provided. The 7th National Basket Weaving Symposium takes place for the first time in South Tyrol as part of the event ‘’Brennende Liab‘’. Around 30 market stalls will be set up in the old town centre, where basket weavers from all over Italy will present their work and offer live demonstrations and workshops.

This exciting and eventful event at the Runster Mill, on the Sonnenberg mountain Naturns, fascinates young and old! Accompanied by a guide, you hike slightly uphill to the Runster mill in approx. 30 minutes. Exciting stories and legends about Naturns are told along the way. Franz Fliri and Walter Müller from the Naturns/Plaus local history association will be waiting for you at the mill. Franz will tell you about the Runster Mill and its history. If you like, you can also take some of the freshly ground flour home with you and bake your own bread rolls. Suitable for families with children aged 7 and over, in case of rain the event will be canceled. The tour is only in german language!

The plague procession takes place every year on the day after Ascension Day in the greatest silence and before daybreak. In the early morning hours, one meets in front of the church in Kastelruth. Already at 03.30am the big church bell rings and "calls" the inhabitants to the Kastelruth village square, where then at 04.00am the procession starts. History: The plague procession has its origins in the distant years 1636/37, when the last great epidemic claimed many victims also in the area below the Sciliar. Since then, in order to avoid a recurrence, every year the population goes from the village to St. Michael's, Tiosels and St. Valentine's and back to the big parish church of Kastelruth, praying and asking for help. Incidentally, along the path on which the procession moves, candles are lit in the windows - probably in memory of the time of the sinister plague, when a burning candle in the window signaled to the outside world that someone was still alive in that house.

For over 650 years, the people of Ahrn have been making pilgrimages to the Corn Mother to pray for a rich harvest. At 4.30 pm, the pilgrims are welcomed at the Wolfesgrube with the banner and escorted into the church. Mass is celebrated at 5.00 pm. On Saturday, there will be a procession to the Corn Mother in the church of Ehrenburg/Casteldarne.

There is the rustic mountain pine oil distillery, where the owner Meinrad Rabensteiner gives an insight into the traditional production of mountain pine and pine oil. The organic product is produced in harmony with nature, fresh needles and twig tips of the mountain pine are collected in summer and processed in a gentle way.
