Ladin, our ancient and precious language of the heart, represents centuries of history. It is a linguistic treasure, a symbol of resistance and identity. In every word, in every sound, Ladin speaks to the soul and awakens deep emotions. It is a treasure to be protected, to be preserved for future generations, so that they too can enjoy its beauty. We want to open the doors and reveal the secrets of this treasure to you too, through small Ladin language courses, visits to the most important institutions in the valley, the places that preserve the history and culture of our Ladin mother tongue. You can also immerse yourself in the Ladin world, in the roots of this language, with Ladin poetry and music evenings. The South Tyrolean Whipcracking (‘Goaslschnöller’) Association invites you to the Whipcracking Championship. Whipcracking will be performed in groups of 2, 3 or 4, and judged on posture, volume and timing. The loud whipcrack sound has been used by South Tyrolean herdsmen to drive cattle for centuries. However, whipcracking was also a means of communication over long distances on the alpine pastures, for example to communicate when food was ready or someone was injured. Today, it’s used at religious events, village and alpine festivals, parades and Alpine cattle drives to keep the old tradition alive. The 25th anniversary of Goaßlschnöller Villnöss valley is also celebrated. Followed by an after show party in the tent.

On this adventure hike, we immerse ourselves in a time when life still had an uncomplicated course, when there were no access roads to the mountain meadows, the tools were simple and basic, yet sophisticated, and of course there was no smartphone for a long time. We set off on foot and reach the mountain meadow, where we will explore the topic of mountain hay, not just thematically. For this weeks version "Light" we go to a mountain meadow at the end of the Ratschings valley. The exact location has not yet been decided. It will probably be the meadow about 300 m behind the Kneipp facility. The starting point is the Ratschings Jaufen cable car valley station (also accessible by bus), from where we will continue together towards the end of the valley.

The Parish Caritas, in collaboration with the Parish Council, is once again organising the Church Day in St Magdalena on Sunday 20th July. Holy Mass with solemn procession at 9.30 am in the church of St. Magdalena. Followed by a concert by the music band. Food and drink will be provided. The proceeds go to the parish charity.
