Thanksgiving Day in Kastelruth is an annual event where the people of the community express their gratitude for a successful harvest year. On the day of the celebration a Holy Mass is held, followed by a procession through the streets of the village. The procession starts at the church and goes through the streets of Kastelruth, while the villagers sing their harvest songs. At the end of the procession, the congregation gathers in the village square, where our local parish priest concludes the Mass and gives God's blessing to all those present.

Festivity "Törggelefest" with roasted chestnuts, home-made wines, South Tyrolean 'Marende' and music in the nostalgic garden of the Gaudententurm residence and, last but not least, guided tours through the distillery!

At 10.00 a.m. the cattle will be decorated at the Malga Tuff from where they will be driven to Fiè. They will arrive at Fiè at approximately 11.30 a.m. or 12.00 p.m. At 1.00 p.m. there will be benediction of the cattle followed by a festival at the festival place Völs.

Celebrate our religious traditions together with us. Today the religious procession with the translation of the Holy Cross will lead from the Sanctuary of La Crusc/Santa Croce to the village of Badia. In Val Casies Valley, in the village of S. Maddalena, the traditional "Kirschta" (church day) is celebrated in autumn. We particularly recommend the "Original Obolola Almabtrieb" on Saturday afternoon. The farmers, dressed in traditional costumes, bring their livestock, such as cows, sheep and goats, directly from the mountain pastures back down to the valley. The animals are lavishly decorated with flowers, wreaths and bells. At the end of the valley, there is traditional food and musical entertainment until the end of the festival. On Sunday, the Kirchtag is celebrated with the traditional morning pint in the Club house from S. Maddalena with traditional music and local, regional specialities.

It is probably the most beautiful pilgrimage across the whole Alpine region: when autumn is at its most colourful, on the second Sunday in October, the villagers of Ortisei go up to the Chapel of San Giacomo. The location itself is heavenly: the chapel and the visitors look out across the Sassolungo from a spot on the steep mountain forest. From here, the mountain comes across like a cathedral of nature. Blessed as one is after a view like this, on Monday go to the traditional Segra Sacun market. Here it's all about the more earthly delights. The whole pedestrian zone is a lively market square, where walking through can be a bit difficult at times. Culinary delights, craftsmanship, carved and painted, are on offer. Another old tradition takes place in the market place: men ripe for marriage will buy a pear at the market, which they will decorate with a ribbon and give as a present to their chosen one. During Easter the following year, the woman has to give the man Easter eggs. Important: the man cannot forget to pick up the eggs if he wants to win his woman over.

Every year after the village festival in St. Jacob, on Monday the market "Segra Sacun" will be held in the pedestrian area of Ortisei. The “Segra Sacun” market is the largest market of the year, which is filled with numerous stands that offer culinary delights and craft products. According to an ancient tradition, girls and women, on the occasion of this day, will be gifted with decorated pears as a sign of sympathy and love.

With passion, Ingrid shares her knowledge of this rediscovered craft, providing essential insights into materials, preparation, posture, and design. Through her teaching, participants experience how healing textile craftsmanship can be. The Makramee workshop takes place in collaboration with Ingrid Bodner (Kunst in Textil). Traditional folk music, chestnut market, rural dishes and chestnut specialities await visitors in the village centre of Völlan. Visit to the Völlan Farmers' Museum with traditional baking demonstrations and a presentation of local crafts. 20th October from 9 am to 5 pm The Organic Festival will take place on the open air festival area Algund. The South Tyrolean Health Promotion Association and the Union of Alternative Farmers. Organic products (fruit, vegetables, herbs, infusions, wine, juices, bread, etc.), wholemeal dishes and entertainment for adults and children await you. In addition to a large offer of organic products, there will also be lectures with various speakers.

The traditional Sterzing farmers' market ends with the Sterzing harvest festival on the town square. Experience traditional crafts, South Tyrolean delicacies, freshly prepared sweet temptations and a large selection of products straight from the farm. “Autumn is always our best time”, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe already knew that autumn brings with it a very special atmosphere: the fruit on the trees ripens, the leaves turn colorful and the sky turns a wonderful blue. This is also the case in the town square of Sterzing in South Tyrol on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26, 2024. Friday begins with the traditional farmers' market in the town square, which will take place for the last time in summer 2024. As every Friday, local suppliers offer their products from 09:00 - 13:00. From honey, Wipptal Valley herbal teas, homemade bread and baked goods to fresh vegetables and organic wines, you will find everything to make your heart beat faster at the Sterzing farmers' market. The Sterzing Harvest Festival begins on Saturday at 10:00 am on the town square. Throughout the day, there is a farmers' and creative market for visitors, where you can admire and purchase homemade fruit juices and syrups, various tea blends and herbs, farmhouse cheese specialties, homemade jams, fresh eggs and much more. The Stilfes Advent market has a stand with handmade candles and other grave decorations for All Saints' Day. The donations for this will be donated to Südtirol hilft. Doughnuts, fresh apple juice, homemade sausage with cabbage or smoked meat - there is something for every taste! Of course, there is also the typical “Keschtn”, which is a must in the fall. Autumn is the time for Törggelen! “Törggelen” comes from the Latin word “torculum”, which means “winepress”. The fragrant smell of roasted chestnuts is truly special, and something which characterises autumn time. People meet together to enjoy Tyrolean specialities and the delicious chestnuts, of course. Innkeepers, farmers, artisans and artists all proffer their wares on Raiffeisenplatz market square, so there’s plenty to see.

All Saints market in Lana in the J.-Kravogel and F.-Höfler Str., from 7.30 - 13.00. The following roads will be closed during the market: Lorenzerweg, Franz-Höfler-Strasse, Johann-Kravogl-Strasse. Parking is prohibited on all streets and squares from 06:00 to 16:00.

Traditional Hero Commemoration in Martelltal Valley.

The KFS (family association) is organising a small St. Martin's Day celebration on 11th November. Meeting point at 5.30 pm in the school yard. Followed by a candlelight parade into the church of St. Peter. The members of the family association are looking forward to many colourful lights and shining children's eyes.

On 11th November, a St Martin's procession will be organised in Teis. We will leave together with the lanterns at 5.30 pm from the church square towards the festival square. Anyone can join the procession on the way. There we will celebrate a short devotion with St Martin and end the evening with chestnuts and tea.

8th Krampus show run of the ‘Tartscher Bichl Tuifl’ The time has come, the sun is setting and the time of the spooky creatures begins. The Krampus show run of the “Tartscher Bichl Tuifl” finally takes place again! 40 groups from Austria and South Tyrol will give young and old goosebumps.
