Every year in Italy, the feast of Ferragosto, is celebrated on the 15th of August. The holiday refers to the Assumption of Mary into heaven and marks the hottest day of summer and is thus also considered the „turning point of summer “. The feast day begins with a High Mass at 09.00 a.m. in the parish church of Ortisei, during which the traditional consecration of medicinal herbs and flowers takes place. After the Holy Mass there is a folkloristic procession in the pedestrian area of Ortisei. The day will be musically framed by the alpine horns „Ladinia“ at 10.00 a.m. along the pedestrian area. At 9.30 p.m. there will be the concert with the "Merano Pop Symphony Orchestra" in the town centre.

When the Steinegg "Schützen" Company hosts its summer festival, expect a cheerful gathering full of tradition and good vibes. Starting at 12 noon, the festivities begin on the Steinegg festival site – with lively tunes from the Steinegg Music Band, followed by dance music to keep the mood high. Of course, there’ll be tasty food, refreshing drinks and everything that makes a true village festival so special. At the harvest from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on the church field in the centre of the village, the crops are cut with a scythe, bundled into sheaves and the Kornmandlan, or “grain people”, are stood up to dry. The arable crops are harvested. Visitors are invited to take part. The traditional Marende snack, called “Neinern“, is just as important as traditional equipment.

The traditional parade of the associations of Selva Val Gardena is a colorful celebration that honors Alpine traditions.
