Nostalgic vehicles combined with a unique pass road and an unrivalled mountain landscape - the Oldtimer Tractor Tour offers all of this. This year, the vintage tractor tour will take place on 21 June 2025 to mark the 200th anniversary of the Stelvio Pass. Organised by the Oldtimer Club Vinschgau with registration from mid-February on the homepage of the Oldtimer Club Vinschgau. Around 300 vintage tractors meet in Prad in June. A unique experience not only for the participants. The spectators are also treated to a fascinating sight as the highly polished gems wind their way from Prad up the 48 hairpin bends to the 2,757 metre high Stilfserjoch. It's not the fastest that wins, but the fastest time.

Corpus Christi is an important feast in the liturgical calendar, during which the Catholic Church celebrates the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. A solemn procession, in which the consecrated host is carried in a monstrance through the village, expresses this faith. This tradition also has a firm place in Kastelruth, and we warmly invite everyone to participate. The celebration begins at 9:00 am with the Holy Mass in the parish church, followed by the procession at around 10:00 am, which will move through the village and return to the church. We kindly ask all guests and visitors to accompany the procession with respect, to maintain order, and to observe the event reverently along the route. Please avoid entering the procession aimlessly. Thank you for your understanding and for appreciating this religious tradition!

Every Tuesday evening, the traditional artisan and farmers' market takes place in S. Cristina, offering visitors the chance to experience the diversity of South Tyrolean craftsmanship. From 25 June to 06 August, the Nives Square in Selva will host the traditions and tastes market, where you can admire the beauty of local handicrafts and taste and purchase regional delicacies.

ONLY GERMAN AND ITALIAN SPEAKING GUIDES! Baking together traditional bread in a wood-burning oven is fun and not difficult. The farmers demonstrate step by step how to mix all ingredients to form a dough. People are invited to lend a hand, and while the dough rises, they may discover the farm, the garden and the animals such as cows, calves, pigs and rabbits. Finally, the loaves will be baked in a wood-burning oven and, afterwards, tasted together. An interesting and exciting experience for the whole family! The Val Casies farmers' and crafts market offers exclusively regional products from local farms and small artisan workshops. Here, you can find a diverse selection of honey, organic meat, speck and sausages, free-range eggs, pasta, organic goat cheese, dairy products, organic flours and more. In addition to culinary delights, the market features wooden decorations, handwoven rugs, table linens, gift items, handmade children's clothing, jams, juices, pottery, herbal products, textile crafts, and intricate lacework. In the event of unfavourable weather, the event will be held in the festival hut "Interessetschaftshütte Ribisen". A charming market that highlights the diversity of regional products and the craftsmanship of local artisans.

Every third Sunday after Pentecost, Sacred Heart bonfires light up from the hills throughout South Tyrol in the evening. These custom dates back to 1796 where the Tyrolean troops, worried about a possible invasion by French troops under Napoleon, decided to ask God for help and to entrust the Tyrol to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. After the surprising victory of the Tyrolean troops, fires were lit on the tops of the mountains and hills. The Sacred Heart Feast is introduced with saluting bangs and bell ringing. The saluting bangs are loud acoustic signals that are fired in Tyrol to announce high occasions. The festival is celebrated with a holy mass at 9:00 a.m. in the parish church of Ortisei. To celebrate the church consecration in a fitting manner, a procession with Val Gardena’s costumes and the music band of Ortisei will take place after the mass.

This Sunday, Seis am Schlern celebrates the Sacred-Heart-Sunday with a procession. In the evening there will be a concert with the local band of Seis.

The spectacle of the mountain fires lit every year on Sacred Heart Sunday, which can be admired on many mountain slopes in South Tyrol, is particularly impressive. This tradition goes back to an old custom in which the sun is worshipped as a symbol through fire on the summer solstice. Participation for children from 12 years and older!

Sacred Heart Sunday in Prato allo Stelvio On the third Sunday after Pentecost every year, fires of the Sacred Heart are lit on the high peaks throughout South Tyrol and in particularly spectacular fashion around Prato allo Stelvio/Prad am Stilfserjoch. The fires, which are visible at great distances, involve groups of young people and adults, who take considerable trouble to re-enact this centuries-old custom each year, attracting numerous tourists and curious onlookers. The tradition of the mountain fires actually dates back to pre-Christian times but in 1796, by the time Napoleon's army had reached the Alps, the light of the fires was turned into the Sacred Heart alliance. When faced with the threat of war, the Tyrolean parliament decided to entrust the country to the care of the most holy heart of Jesus in the quest for Divine redemption.

Beacons across the mountains. Even today, in early summer the mountain tops are ablaze with beacons to commemorate a solemn religious bond entered into by the Tyroleans in a time of emergency. The refuge lights a Sacred Heart fire at the Rittner Horn around 8.30 p.m., dinner on reservation tel. +39 0471 1550602. In 1511 the Habsburg Emperor Maximilian I granted the Tyroleans special privileges. As part of the so-called “Landlibell” agreement the principle was established that in times of war the Tyroleans would not have to involve themselves beyond their regional borders. In return they were to be responsible for their homeland’s own defence. As the Napoleonic troops advanced closer and closer to Tyrol from northern Italy in 1796 the province prepared for war. The Tyrolean Landstände or Estates General – representatives of the nobility, the clergy, middle classes and peasants – assembled at a congress in Bolzano/Bozen in order to confer on a plan of action. Once all measures had been decided on Abbot Sebastian Stöckl of Stams suggested entrusting the province to the protection of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and so obtain divine help. On 1st June 1796 the solemn promise was made to celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart henceforth each year with a ceremonious Mass. The bond was first acknowledged by the lighting of beacons on the mountains 80 years later.

On June 29, 2025 the cable car Kronplatz 2000 is open for a very special night - the "Sacred Heart Night" at the summit of Kronplatz.

Once the sun has set, a spectacular spectacle awaits you: fires of the Sacred Heart are lit on the surrounding peaks, illuminating the sky over the whole South Tyrol and giving it a magical atmosphere.
Lighting fires around the summer solstice has its origins in ancient times. The custom of solstice and St. John's fires has been documented since the 12th century. In the 18th century, however, the custom was reinterpreted: in 1796, the Tyrolean estates vowed to entrust the land to the "Sacred Heart of Jesus" to counter the imminent danger posed by Napoleon's invasion. Since then, this promise has been commemorated every year by lighting fires.
But this is not all: those interested in culture have the opportunity to visit the two museums at Kronplatz. Both the MMM Corones and the LUMEN Museum open their doors on this evening.

The Villanders Music Band was first officially mentioned in 1803, making it one of the oldest in South Tyrol. Today, the Villanders Music Band has approximately 45 active members and 8 honorary members. It is currently led by the Villanders conductor Hannes Pupp. In addition to traditional events such as the St. Cecilia Concert, the Easter Concert, and numerous church celebrations, the annual fundraising performances on New Year’s Eve, in May, and on St. Martin’s Day are special highlights for the musicians and the Villanders community. Moreover, the traditional costumes worn by the musicians, the "Marketenderinnen", and the flag bearer are among the most traditional in the region.
