What you shouldn’t miss out on in Vipiteno

The top six attractions

You only know Vipiteno/Sterzing when you’ve seen...

The symbol of this town is undoubtedly the 46 m tall Zwölferturm tower right in the town centre. It was built in the second half of the 15th century above the then gate to the town centre and was furnished with the stepped stone gable and sun dial of today after a fire at the end of the 19th century. The Town Hall is next to the tower with its magnificent Gothic council chamber, which features wood paneling and a simple beamed ceiling. The Multscher Museum is home to a priceless late-Gothic altarpiece that was built by Hans Multscher from Ulm for the parish church. The Municipal Museum is also located in the same building. Wolfsthurn Castle, South Tyrol’s only baroque castle, is home to the State Museum of Hunting and Fishing. Perched on a rocky hill are the castles known as Burg Reifenstein, with its perfectly maintained rooms, and Schloss Sprechenstein, the entrance to which you can reach after a short walk through the woods.
