Domenico Grenci "Light Years" solo show
    Bolzano/Bozen, Bolzano/Bozen and environs
Domenico Grenci's painting admittedly addresses this kind of compositions. His productive corpus is made up of consolidated subjects of painting – flowers, portraits, surfaces and still lifes – very different from each other, distinct in their progression as almost autonomous series, but also profoundly related both in their expressive treatment and in the meaning they bring with them. Images of astral distance and tactile proximity, dreamy and crepuscular epiphanies that seem observed among the attenuating vapours of past time or of the distance that interposes between our eyes and the target to which they are directed, objects seen through frosted glass with an almost photographic quality, but with a heliographic, nineteenth-century type, flou, unstable, phantasmagorical…

    Exhibition: Nibelungen Imagine Worlds
    Meran/Merano, Meran/Merano and environs
This year's exhibition season at Kunst Meran opens on 23 February at 7 p.m. with a collaborative project with the Akademie Meran and the Sonora Festival, Nibelungen: die rückkehr, in which the exhibition curated by Harald F. Theiss At the centre of this interdisciplinary project between art, literature and music is an ancient manuscript of the Song of the Nibelungen, which was found in South Tyrol (Latsch in Vinschgau) and is now in the possession of the Berlin State Library. The Song of the Nibelungs is the most important literary epic of the German Middle Ages. Created in the 1200s from various legends passed down , it combines two different storylines. With contemporary works of art and a collaborative project, it allows critical reflections, contextualisations and re-enactments of more than just traditional narratives. It questions collective memory and the relationship between the construction and deconstruction of Eurocentric myths in times of a post-colonial and post-migrant reorganisation of the world. In the context of social concepts, ideas about how something could have been, was later or is now are thematised. It is also about the emergence of new images of self and others. Above all, the ideal of courtly love represents a value system that still characterises social norms today and whose deeper examination can provide information about more recent cultural actions, including queer-feminist institutional critique and gender-specific attributions and perspectives. Imagine Worlds is more of an associative mind game than a reproduction of the epic with new images. With the art of hinting and referencing, the exhibition rather speculates on the ambivalence of myths, on the disappearance and emergence of new stories or myth formations. On a kind of walk-in stage, new artistic creations appear that retell variants on cultural change and concepts for shaping societies. By means of the works, which do not only come from language, the exhibition has the courage to create empty spaces. These can be considered further in a reorganising reality on the basis of text-based and media art, but also on the basis of the project, paintings, drawings and sculptural objects. In this way, Imagine Worlds enables a diverse perspective on myths and refers to the significance and transformation of (manuscript) writing and authorship as well as to the history and aesthetics of reception and gender constructions - then, later and today... Artists: Astha Butail, Julia Bünnagel, Andrea Canepa, Zuzanna Czebatul, Margret Eicher, Nadine Fecht, Philipp Fürhofer, Jeppe Hein, John Isaacs, Kubra Khademi, Alexander Kluge & Jonathan Meese, Oliver Laric, Kris Lemsalu, Philip Loersch, Tim Noble & Sue Webster, Mirja Reuter und Florian Gass (Künstlerisches Beteiligungsprojekt), Nasan Tur.

Llama meets Culture - Trekking Walk around "Montani" Castles
    Latsch/Laces, Vinschgau/Val Venosta
After first getting to know each other, starting from the animals’ winter quarters in Laces, with the llamas on a leash we walk through the surrounding apple meadows and along a serpentine path up to the castle ruins of Untermontani with a wonderful view over the entire central Vinschgau Valley. Continuing towards Obermontani Castle at the entrance to the Martell Valley, we may walk in the footsteps of our medieval ancestors and listen to the stories of our Llamero Florian before taking a rest at the castle. Florian will not only tell you everything about the llamas, but also about the historically significant surroundings. On an old Waalweg (irrigation channel) we then cross the woods above Laces with our cuddly four-legged friends that leads us to the sunny plateau of the Magrinböden. From there we descend via a forest path to the Bierkeller (refreshments possible), before returning to the starting point. If desired, a shorter route is also possible via Saint Stephen's Chapel (14th century - most extensive Gothic fresco cycle in Tyrol) or just through the surrounding meadows! The tour is especially beautiful during the blossoming time of the apple trees! Difference in altitude: approx. 100m Duration: approx. 3 hours (a shorter tour is also possible on request) Suitable for children from 4-5 years, smaller children should be accompanied by another person when leading an animal. Minimum number of participants: 3 persons Subject to change! In case of bad weather the tour will be postponed! Ticket Museum Minnehus - Walther von der Vogelweide
    Lajen/Laion
Walther von der Vogelweide, the most important of the German-speaking minnesingers, has left a deep mark not only on literature, but also on Lajen. Thus would Walther von der Vogelweide have probably received us, bidding us “willekomen” to his home of Lajen, which he left in the late 12th century in order to conquer the entire German-speaking world with his songs and poems. Walther was the star minnesinger, the one who knew how to entertain the ladies and gentlemen at court – up to and including numerous crowned heads. As a consummate professional, he knew exactly what his audience wanted to hear, whether it was poems about noble ladies and (not so noble) girls, or works with a more solid content: crown, church, crusades.
