As autumn settles over South Tyrol, the landscape gently transforms. Forests glow in warm light as deciduous and coniferous trees shift their colours. Day by day, the paths change little by little. And you find yourself in the midst of the foliage – a vivid spectacle of nature that lasts only for a short while, yet lingers in your memory much longer.
Come Closer and Be Inspired. By quiet or active moments in nature, through winding alleys and sunny mountain slopes, by the taste of our products, by pausing and taking it all in.
The days are getting shorter but are no less beautiful. Nature has given its all, the air is cooler and the sun is still warm. Now is the time to enjoy.
Have you yet to experience the colours of South Tyrol in autumn? We love this time: at no other time of year is the sun lower, the light softer and the outlines more vivid.
Now we go hiking and biking again through the colourful forests and green meadows, now we often share Waalwege canal trails, paths, summit crosses and refuges with just the locals. Treats are served up in the farmhouse taverns as part of "Törggelen", the South Tyrolean harvest tradition: chestnuts, apples, Speck smoked ham, Alpine cheese, new wines and fresh vegetables from the meadows. The autumn ambience is opulent.
Albert Unterweger and the siblings from the Röckhof share more than their craft. They share a respect for what nature provides – and the knowledge of how to turn it, with tradition, into something genuine.
Since childhood, Albert Unterweger has been surrounded by sheep. Today, they are the heart of his small wool manufactory in Sarnthein. Here, the wool is combed, spun, and woven – with sensitivity, patience, and the understanding that good things take time. The quality, and above all the strong bond with tradition, has even convinced the Italian fashion house Fendi.
Carmen and Hannes get to work. The siblings are back where it all began for them: at the Röckhof in Villanders. They give their wine a very personal signature and work with what is at hand – with the power of nature, with healthy soils, with old wooden barrels. The result: honest natural wines full of character.
With the 5-weather forecast you won't let bad weather ruin your holiday in South Tyrol: that's a good way for a great planning. On a rainy day, visit a musuem or hit the slopes of a ski resort when the snow is falling down. Look at the sky clearing out and enjoy your time outside.
