The Latemar World Heritage Site promises unforgettable adventures and a one-of-a-kind nature experience. In summer 2023, Obereggen's new adventure programme will feature along three different paths the Magical Tales of the Dolomites, the Storm Vaia and thrilling poacher legends. Various installations, booklets, maps, audio games and an app will help children aged 6 to 14 solve difficult puzzles and tasks in analog and digital formats. The entire family can actively participate in the adventures and earn valuable points that will help with specific reforestation of the woods. Vaia’s Wrath - Audio game hike: about 2 hours, 2.5 km (trail nr. 9, LATEMAR.ALP). Last night, hurricane Vaia roared through the Latemar region, leaving behind a landscape of devastation. Pale and sleepy, Toni turns off the radio. Your family is currently spending the fall vacations on Toni’s parents’ farm, the Jörgelhof. You are just sitting with a cup of tea when Toni’s sister Klara storms into the parlor - her beloved calf Peppi is gone! You quickly gather the most important equipment and set off in search for the lost animal – through the completely devastated forest landscape. Fallen trees, raging streams – many dangerous and tricky situation are awaiting you and you must master them.

Variante Oberholz

This adventure-hiking trail directly beneath the walls of the Latemar will guide you to the region's most-spectacular outlook points, with lots of educational and informative fables of these places.
The Oberholz hut at the mountain station of the chairlift "Oberholz" can act as starting- or endpoint of a hike. With its modern architecture, the unique location and the 360° panoramic terrace, the Oberholz hut is a true highlight.

This easy but somewhat long hike leads across lush alpine meadows, from hut to hut, with beautiful distant views of the Dolomites.

Mountain panorama, adventure and turquoise water - this adventurous hike in the middle of the legendary mountain world of King Laurin is an absolute highlight for the whole family. The metres in altitude are comfortably conquered with the mountain railways, so that you can enjoy the panorama from above without too much effort. Huts with panoramic terraces invite you to linger, while Lake Carezza enchants young and old with its rainbow colours.

This trail will take you along alpine meadows to interactive stations and inform you about alpine pasture farming and the Dolomites World Heritage Site. Toni and Klara must find their small calf Peppi in this interactive audio game.

The tour to the idyllic Latemar hut / Rif. Torre di Pisa at an altitude of 2,671 meters above sea-level is a special experience. This deman-ding but well-secured mountain hiking trail will take you into the heart of the Dolomites World Heritage Site. You will be rewarded with views that are breath-taking to say the least. The Oberholz hut at the mountain station acts as starting point of the hike. With its modern architecture, unique location and 360° panoramic terrace, the Oberholz hut is a true highlight.

This gorgeous panorama path leads above the village Nova Levante to the Pension Erna and it's a perfect family walk.
A total of 9 stations along the panoramic path explain facts about the village Welschnofen, their history and tradition and the nature in the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites. Numerous benches invite you to relax and to enjoy the tranquility and fresh mountain air.

Easy hike below the Rose Garden through flowering mountain meadows to a very special vantage point at the foot of the Roda di Vael, named after Empress Sissi - "The Kaiserstein".

This panoramic aerial tram takes skiers, hikers and cyclists from the center of Welschnofen (at an altitude of 1,182 meters above sea-level) to the Frommer Alm (at 1,743 m).
Upon arrival, you'll have a magnificent view of the legendary "Rose Garden" and the Latemar – declared a World Nature Heritage Site of the Dolomites by UNESCO. Families can undertake easy tours from the mountain station, or you can take the König Laurin Cableway and continue to the Cologne Hut (2,337 meters above sea-level) and enjoy challenging hikes, mountain-climbing tours, and hikes along cable-supported routes.
Cyclists can take the Carezza Trail or the Pumpline into the valley.
The aerial tram has a capacity of ten passengers.

Mindful.Latemar is the first immersive Mindfulness trail in the Alps. Mindful.Latemar is located in Obereggen along the circular trail on the Golfrion mountain at the foot of the Dolomites at an altitude of 1872 metres. The trail includes 18 Mindfulness exercises in a special place that is meant to be an example of rebirth and resilience after it was hit by storm Vaia in November 2018.
Mindfulness is the ability to be present and aware of the present moment. 
Mindful.Latemar is a place of wellbeing full of meaning and emotions, where everyone can find themselves and “re-centre” themselves by promoting their own psychophysiological wellbeing. The course was conceived by Wellbeing Psychologist and Mindfulness Instructor Dr Thomas Bernagozzi. Through experiential learning and meditation techniques, it will be possible to learn how to retrain one's attention and create a moment of care and wellbeing for oneself and those around us. The novelty of this project is that it can also be done independently after installing the free app.

In a short time you can reach the wonderful Latemar meadows and the Eggental | Val d'Ega mountain cinema. Hikers can enjoy the tranquillity and the magnificent view of the Rosengarten | Catinaccio on this route, at the foot of the Latemar with its bizarre rock formations.

The Secret of the Venetian - Audio game hike: 2 hours, 1.4 km (trail nr. 22, LATEMAR.PANORAMA). Toni and Klara, the Jörglhof siblings, are once again on the road with you, entertaining you with a legend from their homeland, the Latemar puppets. Fascinated, you are looking at the mountain peaks of the Latemar, to recognize in them the puppets of the Venetian, when you hear a voice "I, too, am looking for my knife! Help me and I will reward you richly!". Startled, you whirl around, between the bushes there is an old man who seems to have sprung from the legend you just heard. In search of the lost knife, you land in the middle of the legendary world of the Latemar. There are tricky puzzles to be solve, the evil witch Langwerda to be escaped and many dangers to be overcome.

 

 

 

 

Destination of this lovely hike is the monument to the Empress Elisabeth (Sissi, wife of Franz Josef I), who stayed several times in the Grand Hotel Carezza. She was often accompanied by a local
guide along the path n. 6, which was her favorite walk.

The LATEMAR.NATURA trail was made for families and nature-lovers and leads through alpine landscapes and altitude zones to discover natural habitats of the alpine region. Interactive stations make the hikers aware of the nature around and acquaint them with the local flora and fauna.

Slope for beginners

In Obereggen, families and nature lovers hike with particular enjoyment. The LATEMAR.NATURA adventure trail not only features interactive stations that provide interesting information about animals and plants, but also leads directly to the new Eggental mountain cinema, which shows us a wonderful mountain panorama.

Experience a fascinating natural phenomenon on the Pyramid Path in Steinegg|Collepietra: the impressive earth pyramids, which have been formed over centuries by erosion from clayey moraine soil.
The varied circular trail leads you through dense forests, across gentle meadows and even through a gorge, always accompanied by magnificent views of the Schlern|Sciliar and Rosengarten|Catinaccio mountains. Along the way, you can marvel at the bizarre earth pillars from afar and then up close - a testimony to the power of wind and water. Enjoy this unique hike through a landscape full of geological wonders.

Important note: There are no refreshment stops along the entire circular route. However, at the start and end point in Steinegg|Collepietra, you will find several restaurants, cafés, and two shops.
