    Bolzano/Bozen, Bolzano/Bozen and environs
Fungi play a crucial role in terrestrial ecosystems. They serve as decomposers by converting dead organic material into vital nutrients for plants. In addition, many fungi form symbiotic relationships with plant roots, contributing to the health of plants and the biodiversity of the surrounding environment. At the colloquium in Italian "Lo studio della biodiversità micologica in Alto Adige" next Wednesday, 8 May at 6 pm at the South Tyrol Museum of Nature, mushroom expert Claudio Rossi will introduce the function and ecological significance of fungi. The blossoming treasure: film premiere about the Huter herbarium
    Bolzano/Bozen, Bolzano/Bozen and environs
On 8 May, the South Tyrol Museum of Nature will be showing the film "The Blooming Treasure - The Herbarium of Rupert Huter" at Cineplexx Bolzano. It tells the story of the botanist and priest Rupert Huter, who collected a herbarium of over 74,000 specimens on the threshold of the 20th century. The documentary film by Christoph Wieser tells the story of Rupert Huter, a simple farm boy from East Tyrol, who rose to become one of the most important plant collectors and researchers of his time thanks to his passionate dedication to botany. His tireless work and deep-rooted interest in the local flora enabled him to amass an impressive collection of over 74,000 plant specimens, which are now kept in the South Tyrol Museum of Nature. "This treasure, which is Huter's legacy, is of inestimable scientific value and contains species from all over Europe and beyond, including coveted type specimens," explains Thomas Wilhalm, curator of botany at the South Tyrol Nature Museum. The film not only documents Huter's extraordinary contributions to botany, but also offers an insight into the life of a man whose simple origins and pure curiosity led him to worldwide recognition and respect. His passion for collecting, which brought him into contact with prominent botanists of his time and enabled him to take part in unforgettable excursions, is brought to life through interviews, historical documents and breathtaking landscape shots. The Nature Museum has restored and digitised Huter's collection to make it accessible to researchers. This documentary is a tribute to Huter's lifelong passion and tireless spirit of exploration.

Domenico Grenci "Light Years" solo show
    Bolzano/Bozen, Bolzano/Bozen and environs
Domenico Grenci's painting admittedly addresses this kind of compositions. His productive corpus is made up of consolidated subjects of painting – flowers, portraits, surfaces and still lifes – very different from each other, distinct in their progression as almost autonomous series, but also profoundly related both in their expressive treatment and in the meaning they bring with them. Images of astral distance and tactile proximity, dreamy and crepuscular epiphanies that seem observed among the attenuating vapours of past time or of the distance that interposes between our eyes and the target to which they are directed, objects seen through frosted glass with an almost photographic quality, but with a heliographic, nineteenth-century type, flou, unstable, phantasmagorical…

    Exhibition: Nibelungen Imagine Worlds
    Meran/Merano, Meran/Merano and environs
This year's exhibition season at Kunst Meran opens on 23 February at 7 p.m. with a collaborative project with the Akademie Meran and the Sonora Festival, Nibelungen: die rückkehr, in which the exhibition curated by Harald F. Theiss At the centre of this interdisciplinary project between art, literature and music is an ancient manuscript of the Song of the Nibelungen, which was found in South Tyrol (Latsch in Vinschgau) and is now in the possession of the Berlin State Library. The Song of the Nibelungs is the most important literary epic of the German Middle Ages. Created in the 1200s from various legends passed down , it combines two different storylines. With contemporary works of art and a collaborative project, it allows critical reflections, contextualisations and re-enactments of more than just traditional narratives. It questions collective memory and the relationship between the construction and deconstruction of Eurocentric myths in times of a post-colonial and post-migrant reorganisation of the world. In the context of social concepts, ideas about how something could have been, was later or is now are thematised. It is also about the emergence of new images of self and others. Above all, the ideal of courtly love represents a value system that still characterises social norms today and whose deeper examination can provide information about more recent cultural actions, including queer-feminist institutional critique and gender-specific attributions and perspectives. Imagine Worlds is more of an associative mind game than a reproduction of the epic with new images. With the art of hinting and referencing, the exhibition rather speculates on the ambivalence of myths, on the disappearance and emergence of new stories or myth formations. On a kind of walk-in stage, new artistic creations appear that retell variants on cultural change and concepts for shaping societies. By means of the works, which do not only come from language, the exhibition has the courage to create empty spaces. These can be considered further in a reorganising reality on the basis of text-based and media art, but also on the basis of the project, paintings, drawings and sculptural objects. In this way, Imagine Worlds enables a diverse perspective on myths and refers to the significance and transformation of (manuscript) writing and authorship as well as to the history and aesthetics of reception and gender constructions - then, later and today... Artists: Astha Butail, Julia Bünnagel, Andrea Canepa, Zuzanna Czebatul, Margret Eicher, Nadine Fecht, Philipp Fürhofer, Jeppe Hein, John Isaacs, Kubra Khademi, Alexander Kluge & Jonathan Meese, Oliver Laric, Kris Lemsalu, Philip Loersch, Tim Noble & Sue Webster, Mirja Reuter und Florian Gass (Künstlerisches Beteiligungsprojekt), Nasan Tur.

Ticket Museum Minnehus - Walther von der Vogelweide
    Lajen/Laion
Walther von der Vogelweide, the most important of the German-speaking minnesingers, has left a deep mark not only on literature, but also on Lajen. Thus would Walther von der Vogelweide have probably received us, bidding us “willekomen” to his home of Lajen, which he left in the late 12th century in order to conquer the entire German-speaking world with his songs and poems. Walther was the star minnesinger, the one who knew how to entertain the ladies and gentlemen at court – up to and including numerous crowned heads. As a consummate professional, he knew exactly what his audience wanted to hear, whether it was poems about noble ladies and (not so noble) girls, or works with a more solid content: crown, church, crusades.
