The music bands of the valley have maintained our valuable tradition for decades. They play an important role in the social life of the village and give many young people the opportunity to discover and develop their musical talents. On this evening, you will hear the melodies of the music band from San Martin. In case of bad weather, the concert will take place in the events hall J.B. Rinna. Already for the 22nd time the Bressanone Old Town Festival takes place. Nothing has changed in the basic idea that the Old Town Committee set itself over thirty years ago: To organize a festival within the walls of the city of Bressanone in order to show to all citizens, but also to all guests, the beauty of our city worth preserving, combined with the intention of preserving it and, where necessary, restoring it with love and expertise. The festival of artisanal chocolate in Selva Val Gardena, from August 23rd to 25th, 2024, is an unmissable occasion for chocolate lovers. Organized by Chocomoments, it offers the opportunity to witness live processing at the chocolate factory, participate in workshops, show cooking, and tastings of local delicacies. Copper and Coal

The STMM turns into a time machine and we travel back to the adventurous world of mining in the Middle Ages. Especially in the 15th century, copper smelting was one of the highest craftsmanship, as copper was one of the most sought-after metals.

From 23 to 25 August, re-enactment groups from South Tyrol, Germany and Trentino will set up their tents in the Nikolaus gallery of the former Prettau copper mine and demonstrate their craft to spectators ina historically accurate manner. From ore cutting to charcoal burning to copper smelting, from cooking to clothing to numismatics, from woodcutters to miners to the court of Maximilian I, we experience the exciting era first hand and gain new insights through experimental archeology.

INTERNATIONAL ICE HOCKEY AT ICEFORUM LACES In 2024, the Vinschgau Cup powered by Audi goes into its eighth round and we again invited top teams according to our motto “top class ice hockey and family atmosphere”. From August 23rd to 25th 2024, the Panthers from Ingolstadt (GER), the Iserlohn Roosters (GER) and two other international teams will fight for the trophy of the Vinschgau Cup.

The castle concert with the Schenna music band promises a unique audiovisual experience. In the inner courtyard of the castle, the band plays live music to selected film scenes that are projected onto a screen.

St. Bartholomew market in the Niederrasen Recreational Park. The offer is wide: market stands, manual work, antiquities, flea market stands, gastronomic specialties, musical entertainment and much fun for children. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Barthlmastag is an important Rittner vacation with a long tradition. It is celebrated annually on August 24 and takes its name from the patron saint of shepherds and farmers, St. Bartholomew. In the past, on this day, the farmers met on the Rittner Alm for the cattle drive and the subsequent market. The cattle of the farmers, who spent the summer on the alp, are herded together at the Saltner hut and driven in at noon with “Goasslschnoellen”, Saltner calls, neighing and yelling. The meeting point is a fenced-in area, the “Stricker Pfarrer”, where in earlier years the Barthlmas market took place, where the farmers met to do various business. Today the market takes place in Pemmern, where agricultural products from the region are offered. Since 1927, the spectacle has been accompanied by the Wangen music band, which has also provided food and drink since the 1960s. After this highlight on the Rittner Alm, the afternoon continues downhill to Pemmern, where the Almfest becomes a meadow festival with music and children’s programs.
