Fire brigade's music festival - in the valley of the water

Entertainment and music at the summer festival of the Fire Department!

The village festival in San Vigilio is a celebration for young and old that you should not miss. Here you can expect a colourful programme with numerous attractions and activities that have something to offer for every taste. Let yourself be carried away by the good mood and warm atmosphere while you taste local specialities and listen to music. The smell of grilled meat, fresh bread and cakes will fill your nostrils and whet your appetite. In addition to culinary highlights, there is also a rich entertainment programme.

Every year on the first Sunday in August the ancient miller's profession can be observed and discovered in the Ternertal Valley within the framework of the Mill Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.! Enjoy the splashing of the wooden water wheels while observing the grinding process in the old mills! You can savour local culinary delights such as home-baked bread, dumplings and fried specialities.

We are deeply attached to our Ladin traditions and we would like to give them as much value as we can. That is why we want to introduce you to our traditional music. And where better than in a mountain hut? The majestic peaks of the Dolomites will be the backdrop for the concert of the local group Arton Duo with Mattia Demetz, harmonica world champion, and his father Giovanni. The traditional costumes of the Val Gardena are known far beyond its boarders. Every year, on the first Sunday of August, they are shown on a big festival, which is alternately hosted by one of the three villages of the Val Gardena. During the day, various traditional dishes and drinks are offered by the Hockey Club Gardena.

For decades, a Holy Mass has been held on the 5th of August in Merano 2000 in honour of St Oswald, the patron saint of cattle and herds. The procession will also take place again.

Founded in 1984 by musicians from San Candido, the BIG BAND has undergone a musical development that ranges from Glenn Miller's big band classics to modern arrangements of many jazz, rock and pop standards to premières of original compositions. The musicians now come from all over South Tyrol, but the BIG BAND has always remained true to its motto: continue to develop, try out new things, but never lose sight of what the audience wants. The group has made a name for itself not only in South Tyrol but also in neighbouring regions and has performed at the jazz festivals in Fiemme and Bruneck as well as in renowned jazz venues such as "Jazzland" in Vienna and "Treibhaus" in Innsbruck.

The music bands of the valley have maintained our valuable tradition for decades. They play an important role in the social life of the village and give many young people the opportunity to discover and develop their musical talents. On this evening, the melodies of this impressive group of the Badia music band will resound through the streets of the village. In case of bad weather, the concert will take place at 21:00 in the J.B. Runcher event hall. The Kreativ Ensemble was born in 1983 and is composed of instrumentalists belonging to important Italian orchestras (Orchestra of Padua and Veneto, Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, Orchestra Haydn of Bolzano and Trento). He performs in String Quartet, basic training, in quintet and octet. He collaborates with prestigious soloists performing the most beautiful pages of the chamber repertoire from the eighteenth century to the present day. The Kreativ Ensemble is regularly invited to the most important Italian and international Festivals such as: Pesaro Festival, Suoni delle Dolomiti, Musicastello, Bolzano Estate, Rome Jubilee 2000, Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, International Festival of Bergamo and Brescia.
