In the 40 years of its existence, the Naturno St. Nicholas Festival has developed into an event that is unique throughout South Tyrol and enjoys great popularity every year. At the start of the comedy, Viola asks: ‘What is the name of this country?’ The woman rescued from a shipwreck has been washed up on an unknown coast. Alone and a stranger, she has no idea where she has set foot. Anything seems possible in this land. There are no limits to love. Everyone enters into a relationship with everyone. There is wild desire and seduction, a frenzy of love and intoxicating activity. In the end, no one gets the one they wanted at the beginning, but there is still a big party, as if this crazy trip, playing with identities, self-reflections, disguises, mix-ups, aberrations and craziness could have a happy ending.

A picture from the past is sent anonymously to Jesko's mobile phone. Out of nowhere, he is confronted with something that he had actually buried deep in the turmoil of his youth at Catholic boarding school. What actually happened back then? Memories of Father Stein, who regularly photographed the pupils back then, come to mind. The search for the sender of the picture begins, but also the search for the truth and how to deal with a time at school that was perhaps more traumatising than he would like to admit. Three former schoolmates are sought out. All of them have taken different paths in life, have different memories of what happened and have different ways of dealing with the events that are now being set in motion.

Discover ANOUK, the new and eagerly awaited children's musical for the whole family. Based on the popular children's books by Hendrikje Balsmeyer and Peter Maffay, an impressive production for children aged four and over is currently being created. Anouk is a lovable and helpful girl. However, there is one thing she doesn't like at all: going to bed! Her parents are all the more surprised when Anouk suddenly goes to bed at night full of anticipation. What they don't know: Every night, a magical door opens to a world full of fantasy and adventure for Anouk. She experiences exciting adventures, accompanies pirates on treasure hunts, masters challenges in the jungle and meets colourful characters at the fair. In the process, Anouk makes new friends and helps other children in difficult and challenging situations. When she recounts her night-time adventures the next day, her parents always say: "Honey, you only dreamt it!". all just a dream!" But Anouk has "proof" that this is not the case. And her grandma seems to know more about it...

Nestroy's ‘Talisman’ is a highly comical and bitterly wicked social comedy about the poison of prejudice. Titus Feuerfuchs, a red-haired vagabond, is looking for work. At first in vain, because prejudice outweighs compassion for someone who is at the bottom. Titus' fiery red mop of hair arouses considerable antipathy among his fellow men. The tide turns when he saves the hairdresser Monsieur Marquis from an accident. In return, he is given a jet-black wig as a talisman. Within a very short space of time, Titus uses his sharp wit and fluid identities to masterfully cheat his way to the top of society through the most absurd mix-ups.

The 37th Bolzano Film Festival Bozen (12 - 21 April 2024) will officially kick off on Friday 12 April 2024 with a screening of the 1919 silent film Blind Husbands by Erich von Stroheim. On the opening evening, at the same time in the three cinemas of the Filmclub, Stroheim's directorial debut film will be screened in a restored and viralised version by the Österreichische Filmmuseum in Vienna and, for the first time in Italy, with live musical accompaniment thanks to the collaboration with the Südtirol Jazz Festival Alto Adige. Dedicated to the mountain guide Sepp Innerkofler, Blind Husbands was filmed at Universal Studios with a backdrop of the Dolomites of Cortina d'Ampezzo and was a great success at the time. Closing the festival on Saturday 21 April will be Linda and the Chicken, a small animated masterpiece directed by Chiara Malta and Sébastien Laudenbach, which won Best Film at the Annecy Animation Festival.

The story of the battle between two not entirely respectable businessmen, the beggar clan king Peachum and the burglar king Macheath, known as Mackie Messer, was advertised as a ‘play with music’ at its premiere in 1928 and was essentially the first German-language musical. Bertolt Brecht wrote the text together with Elisabeth Hauptmann, while Kurt Weill composed the immortal music. The three of them achieved a legendary worldwide success. In the new version at the St. Pauli Theatre, the songs are brought back to the fore in all their force. And if you look around, not only in the small world of the neighbourhood, but also in the big world of politics, you realise that not much has changed since Brecht's analysis.
