Forty years have passed since the first edition of the Bolzano Dance Festival. Four decades of uninterrupted programming for an investigation of today's dance in the round, in step with the times, styles, contaminations and technological evolutions. A birthday-achievement celebrated with an edition simply called "40", to be held in Bolzano and its surroundings from 12 to 27 July, which gathers together artists "friends" of the Festival for an exploration of the latest trends on the Italian and European scene, enclosed in a programme full of absolute debuts, national premieres and co-productions. Open-air theatre in the Lengmoos Commandery at 8.30 p.m. Ritten Summer Stage is an annual open-air theater event held in the Commandery Lengmoos. It originated in the summer retreat era of the 17th century. Back then the nobility of Bolzano already found all sorts of diverting entertainment to pass their summer months on the mountain. And, theater could not be done without in order to guarantee for an estimable amusement experience. In 1973, this tradition was brought back to life when the Ritten Summer Stage (“Rittner Sommerspiele”) was born. However, it was no longer meant to be exclusive high-society entertainment but was made accessible to everyone.

Stars such as Status Quo and Bonnie Tyler have already been here and rocked the stage. There is actually nothing better than the atmosphere at the lake, listening to music on a warm summer night! Oh, and the musicals that have left their mark here … with the memorable and beloved melodies from "Evita", "Beauty and the Beast", and "My Fair Lady". Such magical performances can momentarily immerse you into another world, before you open your eyes again to the beautiful backdrop of Lake Kaltern. Expectations are high for 2024 and the excitement is already building. And one thing is for sure: we guarantee high-quality entertainment this coming season – on South Tyrol's only lakefront stage. Come and meet owls, screech owls, barn owls and other feathered friends in the middle of the night! Mario, the falconer, will gladly let you in on the secrets of the day and especially the night birds of prey, with which he has had a very special relationship for years. Which one? Thinking long and hard before every step? Imagine all the dramas of not getting anywhere instead of riding through life on a dragon? Mut & Drachenglut is a journey into sometimes unfamiliar, but poetically enchanting worlds of language and sound. The duo Huja from South Tyrol presents a live musical that leaves room for mental cinema. High above the Etschtal Valley at the Knottnkino cinema in Vöran is probably the most suitable place to let your eyes and thoughts wander and inner images emerge. Heidi Clementi and Brigitte Knapp are the duo Huja, they sing and yodel in the modern Zwoagsong (www.duohuja.com), create the story "Mut & Drachenglut" as a live radio play and perform many other songs from their repertoire. After the radio play and concert, yodelling together is on the programme: while there is a little refreshment in the form of canapés, those interested will be introduced to the technique of yodelling by the duo Huja. In the special evening atmosphere of the Knottnkino cinema, you can try out your voice on this special song. Programme: The meeting point is at 5.30 pm at the Knottnkino car park (above the Eggerhof farm) in Vöran, from where we will hike together to the Knottnkino in 45 minutes. Once at the top, we experience the unique performance and then try yodelling ourselves. After sunset, we hike back to the car park by lantern light (lanterns are provided by the information office), returning at around 8.30 pm. Italian film classics under the starry sky Open-air cinema in the park of the Parkhotel Mondschein. Every Wednesday for 9 summer evenings from July to September with films by great Italian directors and a special atmosphere. The Kreativ Ensemble was born in 1983 and is composed of instrumentalists belonging to important Italian orchestras (Orchestra of Padua and Veneto, Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, Orchestra Haydn of Bolzano and Trento). He performs in String Quartet, basic training, in quintet and octet. He collaborates with prestigious soloists performing the most beautiful pages of the chamber repertoire from the eighteenth century to the present day.
