Family holidays in South Tyrol

From 19 to 22 September, the motto in South Tyrol for four days is: Go out together and collect rubbish at the SOUTH Tyrol CleanUP Days! The large-scale clean-up campaign is organised by the non-profit association Patron. For the first time, eight South Tyrolean destinations and their respective nature parks are taking part, and IDM South Tyrol is also taking part. Anyone can take part Registration and coordination of the routes takes place via the CleanUP Map (interactive map) on https://www.plasticfreepeaks.com/suedtirol. Participants can directly specify the date and route of their self-selected tour here. The required CleanUP Kit for all those interested, consisting of a recyclable and reusable fabric bag and stainless steel tongs, can be collected free of charge at one of the numerous distribution points before setting off. These, as well as the drop-off points for the collected litter, can also be found on the CleanUP Map. At the end of the event, every litter picker has the chance to win valuable prizes from the CleanUP competition.

The cattle return from the alpine pastures to the valley and Sesto celebrates! The cows in particular are elaborately decorated on their return from the alpine pastures: the leading cow and the cows that follow her wear wreaths decorated with sayings, images of saints and elaborate embroidery. The Almabtrieb is combined with a festival to celebrate the safe return of the animals.

Shopping Sterzing / Vipiteno, in one of the most beautiful streets of the alpine area. Merchants and innkeepers are presenting the event "The red carpet" with fashion, music and culinary specialities. The red carpet will turn the whole medieval centre in a unique shopping mile.

The return of the herds from summer pastures in the Tel high mountain valley is appropriately celebrated at the Nasereit Alpine shelter, in accordance with the old farming tradition.

On 22 September, the Nigerstrasse | Via Nigra at the foot of the magnificent "Rose Garden" (Rosengarten | Catinaccio) will be reserved exclusively for hikers and cyclists from 08.30 am till 4 pm. During this period of time, the road will be closed for automobiles and motorcycles. The cableways from Welschnofen | Nova Levante and Tiers | Tires will take all visitors to the Nigerstraße | Via Nigra. At the same time, inns and refreshment stops along the way will be serving a variety of culinary delicacies. At the same time, families can take advantage of the Carezza Family Sunday. Carriage ride with "Pferdemayer" through vineyards and apple fields around Tramin. Stop in a local winery, in a distillery with tastings and Coffee stop. Duration 90 minutes. Experience the “Almabtrieb” in Terento! The ceremonial driving of cattle and sheep from the green pastures back to their home farms and warm barns is a long-standing tradition in Terento. For over 100 cows, calves and sheep this event marks the end of their stay in altitude where they enjoyed the fresh mountain air, tasty grass and cool nights. The animals are adorned with bells, wreaths, fresh flowers and ornate whetstone holders and they are driven down the valley by their herders. Plünderfuhren (procession floats), Goaslkrocha (whip crackers), Schuhplattlern (folk dancers) und and musical entertainment.

Sheep’s wool felt of Villnösser Brillenschaf sheep for children in the Puez-Geisler Nature Park Visitor Center. As part of the Lamb Weeks of the "Villnösser Brillenschaf", an afternoon of handicrafts is organised. For children from 6 to 12 years. Free of charge, but registration required by 6 pm the day before.

The traditional music band Welschnofen | Nova Levante invites you to a concert in the parish church of Welschnofen | Nova Levante. Saturday, 12.10.2024 | 7.00 pm

The festival will begin at 11 a.m. at the elementary school of Avigna. There will be a lots of tasty local delicacies with roasted chestnuts.
